Jim is great! Very personable, and I enjoyed his sessions, especially the laser therapy and antigravity treadmill.

I can genuinely and wholeheartedly say that the owners, physical therapists, PTAs, billing team,…read morefront desk staff -- heck, even the volunteers -- at Jaco Rehab truly have the patient's best interest at heart. Every single person there is supportive, compassionate, and deeply committed to helping people heal. This is a demanding profession, and you can feel that they chose it because they truly care. Every workplace likes to call themselves a "family," but the team at Jaco Rehab really is an Ohana. They work together like a well-oiled machine, and the result is patients who not only get back on their feet, but leave empowered -- armed with the knowledge and education to care for themselves long after discharge. Their saying is "movement is medicine," and they absolutely embody it.

If you're going to Jaco, here are two questions you should ask before you start:…read more 1. "Will I have the same personal trainer each session?" That's a reasonable expectation. A consistent PT can track your progress, understand your limitations, and adjust your program the way true one-on-one training should. 2. When they ask, "Have you been doing your exercises?" Respond with: "Did you review my data and history before this session?" My experience was being passed between multiple trainers. Without getting into the weeds, no one consistently reviewed my charts before sessions. That matters. Without context, it's impossible to ask the right questions or receive targeted guidance. Each session, I was measured and data was recorded--but no one explained what it meant. I was never told how I was progressing, especially regarding range of motion or outcomes. Jaco uses a high-tech system that allows them to charge a $50 cancellation fee within 24 hours, yet trainers weren't consistently inputting or reviewing data to deliver informed sessions. At one point, the lead PT had to step in mid-session to guide the trainer I was working with on what I should actually be doing. After two months of this, I canceled my sessions and am now looking for another PT provider.

Julie was really a great PT, she helped me to regain normal movement in my almost-frozen shoulder…read more She is very patient, and has amazingly strong hands and fingers! She's also kind and has a fun sense of humor, which helps when going through the treatment procedures. After I shared my background with her, she provided me with lots of physiological information which may not be of interest to everyone but that I really appreciated. Hopefully I won't need to, but if I ever need PT again I'd definitely try to get referred here again!

I got referred to Holomua by my PCP back in December of 2024(I believe.) I was skeptical at first…read moreand didn't want to do therapy, but my PCP always told me if I didn't like it, then I can always stop. I was also worried about missing work since I had just started a new job. The staff here was so nice and understanding about that and was able to work with my schedule. The office is located in the Aloha United Way building on the corner of North Vineyard Blvd and A'ala Street. There's a lot of parking in the building itself(make sure to check in at the security desk) and also street parking(metered.) I recently "graduated" from both pelvic floor therapy and physical therapy for my knees. At first I was seeing Julie for my pelvic floor therapy. She was so amazing with helping me figure out the cause of my pain and has taught me how to be more aware and mindful of my body. She also encouraged me to start my running journey. I had mentioned how I was thinking about signing up for some races, but I wasn't sure since I was having all that pain in my pelvic area and my history with pain in my knees. Julie encouraged me to just start running and even gave me some tips for my knee pain. I ended up running and was having problems with my knees again. My PCP sent a referral to Holomua for that as well and that's where I met Steph and Neil(the owner.) Steph and Neil helped me so much with my running journey! I learned a lot and will forever carry all this knowledge with me along my running journey. I've gotten physical therapy services elsewhere before and it didn't help. Holomua made me feel heard and didn't make me feel like I was being a "baby" about all the pain I was having. So far I've ran the King's Runner 2025, Hapalua half marathon 2025, and will be running in the Honolulu Marathon this year as well with the help of Neil's advice and words of encouragement. Julie, Steph, and Neil have been wonderful. I'd highly recommend them to friends and family in the future.

Dr. Dean Yoshimoto is AMAZING!!!…read more My mom has been suffering from extreme knee pain for some time now, and even seeing a sports medicine doctor and physical therapists back at home in Chicago, nothing was working - the pain was still there, if not more so, and there was never a clear answer or a treatment plan that was offered by any of the specialists. Here comes Dr. Yoshimoto, who literally decreased my mom's knee pain by 90% after 1 visit. Yes, you heard that right - 90%!!! He was extremely patient, kind, and really broke it down in terms of pinpointing what exactly was going on, what treatment was needed, and what exercises to do at home. He was so shocked and was left speechless that my mom was dealing with inept individuals all this time - clowns, I tell you! Unbelievable. You can tell that Dr. Yoshimoto genuinely cares for each of his patients. He's not the typical physical therapist who gives you some stretches to do, hooks you up to a muscle stimulating machine, and/or gives you a head pad and calls it a day. He actually tries to target the source of pain! I am so grateful that I was able to find him for my mom, and I was actually kind of serious when I told her that maybe she should consider moving to HI permanently, just for him. AHAHAHA Thank you, Dr. Yoshimoto - you are the bomb dot com! +Dr. Dean Yoshimoto! +friendly front desk
