Absolutely speechless. Unbelievable.
After searching for a good tailor shop, I finally decided to choose Hong's Tailor after being recommended by my brother and seeing all the positive reviews on the affordability and quality.
I purchased 2 brand-new Uniqlo shirts and wanted the sleeves hemmed for both. I pinned exactly where I wanted it, and brought it to her. She said she would be able to do it, and there were no further questions asked.
Yesterday, I picked up the clothing and was astonished by the first-look. I couldn't believe my eyes that this was the "finished" product. Immediately I directly pointed out multiple issues:
1. Stitches are completely uneven.
2. The fabric is pinching in at random spots.
3. The original sleeve was slightly tapered, and now they are flared.
Her responses were:
1. The Uniqlo machine is able to do both lines at once, and our machine is single line only so we can't make it even.
2. That is just how it is.
3. If you want to make it tapered, then it will be an additional cost.
To be completely honest, I am beyond disappointed at the sewing quality and responses I received after pointing out the flaws. This is absolutely unacceptable work for a seamstress to give a client their "finished" product like this. There was no accountability, little to no attention to detail, and a complete lack of understanding.
It is also crazy to charge additional cost to taper when the original was already tapered. She either should have mentioned that in the beginning, or knew by looking at the piece before working on it that the original was tapered and that the end result should be the same.
Please DO NOT go to this place for any of you're tailoring needs. I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. It is crazy that the reviews are good, yet this is the quality of craftsmanship I received. Had I known that this would be the result, I would have much rather kept the original instead. I never even got to wear it, and now both new pieces are completely ruined. I am at a complete loss of words. This is definitely a case of "you get what you paid for". read more
