In town for business had a taste for Buffalo Wings and Lo-mein; went to Wings Express for the wings and then came to Hong Kong Restaurant for the Lo-mein. Both were conveniently located by each other. When I arrived, I was the only customer. Promptly greeted and order taken, overall smooth transaction. The food was ready in 10 minutes. Mom-and-Pop location, so it had more of a basic Chinese take-out restaurant vibe. There are tables for you to eat at the restaurant, I went at 6 pm so there wasn't a buffet available at that time. I ordered the House Lo-mein, my total was right at $10. Great price, great portions, and the food had a great taste to it. If I come back to Tupelo and have a taste for Chinese, I will return to Hong Kong Restaurant. read more

Best Chinese food in the area!!! Love the family vibe. All orders are cooked perfectly every time. I love the Chicken Lo Mein.

Don't expect the food to bust out of that kitchen immediately, but when it does, you're in some good food! I recommend the Ma Po Tofu or the Mongolian Beef! The service is pretty good, run by an older Chinese couple. I never have an empty tea pot when I'm there. If you don't mind a heavy Chinese accent then you're in good shape read more

Very clean, solid Chinese food! The kitchen is open and the Chef wears a mask to keep things extremely sanitary! Good steamed dumplings, fried wontons, cashew chicken. I'm not a fan of the Lo mein, I think they use spaghetti, apart from that everything is great! read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Tupelo. No braggies, but I grew up eating really good Chinese food and feel I have a pretty good idea what quality authentic Chinese food tastes like. Went to Hong Kong Chinese restaurant today. We went in and the hostess had an attitude when we came through the door. She did not greet us and she made our drinks but was not hospitable at all. The buffet had little to no food and when I asked if they would put more food out she said in a minute but it never came. She saw to the other patrons which were white and police officers. My husband and I are black and she was mean and disrespectful to the other black patrons that came in. No one refilled our cup or anything that a resturant does to make you feel like a welcomed customer. We waited for like 20 minutes for more food it never got there until another employee asked what i wanted him to cook. I told him but it was sadly put together. I did not eat but my husband did. I just sat and fumed. When we got to the register. I told her that the service and everything else was awful. I told her i did not eat and did not want it but she charged us for two meals and acted like she didnt hear me when I said ma'am you charged us for two meal. She said my husband ate too much but there was no food on the bar to eat. Anyway how do you eat too much at a buffet? That's what buffet means right, all u can eat. Anyway luckliy the cops s were there and I told them this woman robbed me for my money. I guess they were suprised a black person went up to the cops because her other employee gave me my money quickly. If u are a person of color and eating in Tupelo, Ms dont ever eat here. read more

Our first experience with Hong Kong Restaurant was very enjoyable! From delicious food, well prepared in generous portions to exceptional service in carry out (helping me carry out my bags), we are very glad we followed through on a friend's recommendation. The fried rice was not greasy, the egg foo young and gravy were not too salty, yet very tasty, and the egg roll was larger than other similarly priced at other restaurants. Our only minor complaint would be less filling in the crab rangoon than usual and smaller quantity at higher price, but the exceptional value of other item's price and portion more than offset that. Don't let the shabby sign and no cars in the parking lot put you off. Glad the other reviews mentioned that or we might not have gone in. The atmosphere is so so but the food is great. Huge portions. A bowl of soup is jethro sized- not a cup. Good menu. Lots of choices. The beef on the Mongolian beef was so tender. Fabulous taste. Husband had sesame chicken that was good sized pieces. Food was made fresh and fast. The kitchen was spotless. They do a booming, regular take out business as you can tell by all of the customers that came in and chatted with the girl at the counter. Best Chinese food in town! If you are looking for atmosphere or in a rush, this place is not for you. If you just want delicious, fresh made Chinese food this is the place. It's worth the wait. You can watch your meal being prepared in the wok after you order it. Only reason I don't give it a 5th star is lack of atmosphere. read more
