Stay far away! I ordered take away: ma po tofu, rice and pork dumplings. Just tried the ma po tofu and I was scared to eat it when I opened the container: it had tofu, beef chips, and sliced Szechuan cabbage in a thick brown gravy. WTF?!! Have they ever had this dish before? And beef? What happened to the pork?? Then I tried the dumpling. There were four very small boiled dumplings filled with just pork--no cabbage or chives and no sauce. Very gristly meat. At least I know now that they do have pork; why they didn't use it in the ma po tofu is a mystery.
So naturally, I thought well, at least I got white rice. How the hell can they screw up rice, right? Wrong!! The rice is a very long grain basmati that they boiled with salt and MSG. Foiled again!
So now my husband will say it serves me right to attempt to get any kind of Asian food in Sicily. And he is correct! But at least we had just finished eating a traditional Sicilian lunch and had also filled up on Sicilian pastries and pistachio and lemon gelato. And this "Cinese" 2nd lunch only set me back 11,10 Euros. Oh, and the hot sauce was good. Probably because they did not make it. read more
