Stefano not only continued sharing his knowledge of Sicilian wines but recommended Enoteca Picone to further our experience which was perfect advice. Lunch for me was fried octopus, which was 4 legs, each 6" (150 mm.) long and crispy on the outside and tender but slightly chewy on the inside like great fried chicken. I had seen a plate the night before and actually dreamed of them. They did not disappoint. She chose another iteration of cozze from the specials menu. These mussels were steamed in beer with fresh ginger and were comparably good to the sautéed but slightly more subtle. It turns out that dishes on the specials menu can work their way onto the standard menu if the patrons insist and the chef came out to ask for a comparison. We repeated the contorni plate of chef's choice vegetables that repeated the potato slices but added grill zucchini and oven dried onion that was sweet with all of the bitter components gone and the consistency of a very thin potato chip. We tried to rein in for dinner with pasta only. I had the Sicilian classic Pasta a la Norma with strong fresh tomato, soft eggplant, and sweet onion. It demanded scarpetta even with a white linen table cloth. She had pasta with prawns that was subtle and delicate with a lighter tomato sauce with herbs. We repeated the wines from the night before. We left feeling sad to think we probably wouldn't be back on this trip but smiling from the stomach up.

I decided to have a bucket of clams, awesome! Then in addition, the prosciutto with melon, also the carbonara which had thicker noodles. I dont know that I necessarily care for that, but it was yummy, and so flavorful. I loved it. The service was very direct slightly pretentious in a feel good way. So fun and such a good way to end your night in Italy.

The red wine tasted like a Syrah blend, it was easily the best wine that I had in Palermo. Prices seemed reasonable. I had the misfortune of ordering the meatballs, which were cooked with cheese and mash potatoes -- at least according to the menu. They arrived on a skewer, no mashed potatoes, but cut up white potatoes instead. I could barely dislodge them from the skewer they were so incredibly overcooked. The cheese in between was brown and literally rock hard, when I called the waiter over he offered to replace them which I accepted. Almost a half hour later, no communication from the waiter, no new meatballs, no sign or any food, and my husband was now long done eating his dinner. We asked for the check. The owner then yelled at ME for not being patient enough! He said food in Sicily takes time! Really? I waited for the first meal and it was totally inedible, how long exactly am I supposed to wait for you to cook it right the second time? The owners reaction was really over the top, and he should be ashamed. They served me bad, inedible food and then yelled at us for not being patient enough to wait through a second hour for a replacement? Please. You make a poor dish, own it, apologize and make it right. I would happily have waited a reasonable amount of time for that. After one hour and 15 minutes with zero communication, that is not on me,it's on you. Own it! This restaurant is probably still worth a visit as I feel my bad dish was an aberration, but the attitude of ownership was absolutely rubbish, and they should be ashamed.

Boccum's bar is a single-person operation lead by bartender Sonja who at the time of this review had been working behind the stick there for approximately 3 months. She was happy to chat with us about her experience, give us recommendations and discuss the growing cocktail scene in Palermo. Bocum has a dozen or so unique craft drinks on their menu and a good selection of bottles to prepare high-quality classics. My first cocktail was their Vesper Twist, which was quite a twist, as they have swapped the usual Lillet for a quinquina vermouth and added a hint of scotch for a very dry, slightly smokey version of the drink. My partner got a Geisha sour, a yuzu forward drink with Ki No Bi gin, cherry liqueur, yuzu purée, wasabi, lemon juice and egg white. We were also treated to some unbidden but yummy fried, stuffed squash blossoms during this first round of drinks. By this time Sonja started to realize that we were pretty enthusiastic about cocktails and started bringing out some fun stuff she was experimenting with, including a super creamy clarified milk punch and an absolutely stunning porcini mushroom infused Negroni, which sounds like a gimmick but was legitimately the apex of our drinking experience in Palermo. It was super well balanced and the porcini wasn't overbearing at all. To showcase that porcini taste, we were also provided with some panko fried porcini mushroom tapas which were delicious and light. We went to several other cocktail bars in Palermo with varying degrees of success, but Boccum was the only one we came back to again. The second time was for their dinner service, which is also top-notch from antipasti to dessert. I definitely recommend Bocum if you'd like a break from the typical tourist menus and aperol spritzes of the historic district. The drinks, food and service were all excellent.

This spot knows how to bring fun people in thanks to him. When seated you get a complimentary sparking wine and then the fun begins. The beats on the menu are fabulous and flavourful. The Caprese salad had fresh tomatoes and homemade mozzarella cheese that made you want more. We had two Manzo Steak and they made it the way I like it. The steak melted in my mouth. Then they brought out the big guns the Steak Florentina OMG it comes out sizzling on a hot skillet and this sucker can feed 2 to 3 people on its own. Then came out the Canolo and damn it was good. Then the tiramisu and I have eaten lots of tiramisu and this was not that crap lady fingers soaked in watery flavours. This was the real deal Holyfield and was made to perfection. The creamy and smooth flavors were as if it was sent from the gods. This has been the best one I have EVER had and it was so good I had to let them know. It was Tutto Bene!!! And absolutely divine. All of the staff was very friendly including the cat that roams around Mykaela who was introduced to us by another server who was very good but I did not remember her name. While taking photos I spoke with the owner George and he was an amazing humble man and was so happy we enjoyed our time here. I highly recommend this spot because of the service, the food, the drink, and also the live music that calls you like a siren luring you in. #icucci #palmero #italytravel #italy #tripadvisor #yelpelite #vacation
