Noticed this place and recently and read a review that they load it up, so I came an eh. I am pretty sure the styrofoam boxes are smaller and my food was not overflowing. I got there around 11 at open and all the food looked fresh, I went with bbq pork and orange chicken. The pork was flavorful fatty and delicious and the orange chicken was fresh crunchy and good. This is good combo Chinese but don't come expecting a massive amount of food.

I had another craving for Chinese takeout, but trying to be healthy. So I opted for beef and broccoli, steamed rice, and chow mein. But then Husband had to get the BBQ pork and orange chicken, which I wanted to eat way more which caused me to have to steal food from his order lol. That orange chicken is YUMMY! So my suggestion, get the orange chicken and chow mein. Eat healthy another day.

This place has one of the most friendliest workers; I love coming here! The food is always freshly made and hot. They seem always busy which keeps the food coming freshly made! They have a wonderful selection and pretty anything you order is delicious! I didn't order it this time but their curry chicken is good and I also recommend their bbq pork. I will be back soon!

Had to come check this place out after seeing so many Instagram videos about how much food they give you....and it's all true! Hong Kong Express absolutely packs your container to the brim, with the box literally bursting out on the sides. On my visit, I went for the three-item combo, but honestly, the two-item would have been plenty. Every scoop is generous, the portions are huge, and everything tastes fresh and satisfying. The combo easily lasted me two full meals, making it one of the best deals I've had in a while. If you're craving something quick and flavorful, this place won't disappoint.

This place is a hidden gem with generous portion for the price! Hong Kong Express is located next to a gas station, interior has seating but we have only done take out. Have gotten the two item combo and its only $11! They give you choice of two entree and two sides from the hot plate. Their chow mein is pretty decent and i love their BBQ pork. The workers their are so nice, they load you up so its 2 meals worth for me. Overall solid meal that is not overly greasy and affordable! Would love to try the seafood my next visit!

Friendly staff, great portions, and great prices. I'm not originally from California, so I still can't get used to California Chinese food spots. This place is great for a quick budget friendly dinner or lunch. A three meat choice meal, can easily feed two adults with some food leftover. The place is casual, offering to-go and dine-in.

I was on a work trip and was looking for a place to eat dinner. I found this restaurant on yelp and social media foodie influencer. When I entered the restaurant I was greeted by staff. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I ordered white rice/fried rice with mushroom chicken and teriyaki chicken. The mushroom chicken and teriyaki chicken was tender and very delicious. The rice was soft and the perfect side dish to the mushroom chicken and teriyaki chicken. I also ordered chicken wings and those were phenomenal and crispy. You get great portions for the price. The ambiance is customer friendly. This is a great Chinese restaurant with great choices.

First time visit. I was really craving some Chinese food and one that had BBQ pork or Char-Siu. Did my research, found this place on Yelp and read some great positive reviews. With that I saw they also had BBQ pork so of course we had to make a stop. Stopped by for dinner on the way home from Disneyland. Very convenient, prices are fair, staff are awesome people, very helpful and courteous and the location is right off the freeway I-5. Many great looking dishes but went for the basic and yummy combo(please see pics). They have a nice and simple dining area that we ate at and rested for a bit before we went back onto the road. I would definitely come back and try other dishes with BBQ Pork, lol. Hope my experiences help others. Have an awesome day!

Is this the same ownership as the other Hong Kong Express locations, like the HB one?

Does anyone know when they will reopen?

I drove by there yesterday and it looks like there's a new sign on the front, which seems promising.

There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. And I know this is weird to say, but the combination of beef, hoison sauce, and veggies almost tasted like pho flavors...but crispy? Yummy! I personally again wanted a bit more salt. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I really loved the flavor of the broth. It was spicy and also had a really clean flavor. It looked like it would be a watery broth but WRONG! It was so flavorful. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.

We also had the golden beef noodle soup. I wish they had a non spicy option because it was too spicy for us. The drinks on the other hand are amazing. I had the passion fruit green tea and really liked it. It had real passion fruit in there, not just powder. Kiddo also enjoyed their matcha strawberry drink. It was very creamy and rich. The drinks were pretty cheap, I think mine was under $5 and the matcha was like $6.50.

The lamb skewers were juicy and perfectly seasoned with cumin, and the grilled beef tendon skewers had an amazing crispy, chewy texture. We also tried the beef paomo for the first time--it was warm, comforting, and packed with rich flavor. We tried a variety of items: Shrimp egg rolls, fish with seaweed, fried pork buns, Shanghai rice cakes, and salt and pepper pork. All the items were really tasty except for the fried pork buns - don't get those. The bun part was very mushy and you didn't get any soup inside. The fish with seaweed and salt and pepper pork chops were excellent. Very flavorful and not too salty. I would definitely get those again. The Shanghai style rice cakes are also very good, nice and chewy, definitely cooked correctly. And you can't go wrong with the shrimp egg rolls - they came with large chunks of shrimp which was nice. I really wish they would bring it back because it was one of the restaurant's signature dishes and a favorite among many customers. During this visit, I ordered the sliced pork and the jelly noodles. The sliced pork was incredibly tender, with a clean, fresh flavor that let the ingredients' quality shine. The jelly noodles were refreshing, spicy, and full of bold Sichuan flavors.
