What went well?!? Hmmm welllll I basically bought one of everything and was so thankful I did! We took a bite here and a bite there. A bite of everything everywhere! It was all so delicious! The staff were so fun and helpful (and didn't judge us getting more goodies to take home! lol). The ambiance... let's just say it's absolutely perfect in there, so clean, so chic! I loved it. Excellent desserts! My favorite is the fruit tarts, however you really can't go wrong with any of their treats. My other new favorite is some kind of puff pastry with strawberries, cream, and chocolate(maybe Nutella)... dusted to perfection with powdered sugar. This was my first visit to Rome, and my first time trying HoneyMoon Bakery. They have an incredible selection of cookies, gourmet cupcakes, as well as exquisite, small decorated cakes and gelato. I had arrive near the end of the day, thus I was able to take advantage of their Bogo on cookies and mini crème brûlée's. I ordered one of their chocolate walnut chunk cookies and one of their crinkle cookies. Both cookies tasted fresh and very flavorful. They were slightly crispy or crunchy around the edges and super soft in the center. I also tried one of their mini chocolate cupcakes. It was packed full of concentrated chocolate goodness, which was so extreme, yet good, that I ended up taking a slight break in between bites. The shop has the look and feel of an upscale, professional bakery, and there are plenty of tables if you'd like to sit down and enjoy your sweet purchase. The staff was friendly and welcoming. As a new customer, they took the time to graciously answer all of my many questions. I would definitely consider returning the next time I visit Rome, and I would highly recommend you try this one-of-a-kind bakery too. Dense and disgusting. We ordered a cake for a 90th birthday event with light icing. They filled the cake with icing and not one of the 50 guest had more than one bite. They even decorated it wrong. They offered to fix the decoration but so late in the day there was no time. It tasted awful and they really don't care once they get the money. Before my Ironman Chattanooga race weekend there tradition make stop in Rome, GA. Good friend lives in the area and been many small rural towns in US. U really find some hidden gems. Honey Moon Bakery is definitely one of them. I was looking to get birthday cake or cupcake for friend that also doing Ironman Chattanooga. Her birthday weekend. Plus I was craving sweets anyway and perfect recommendation. Bakery totally legit! The minute walk in forgot in small town but bakery see in big city. Interior is really nice and modern. The display cases were filled with mouth watering sweets. Diversity insane. The first display had different cookies non cakes or cupcakes. The next two had assortment of cakes and cupcakes. I like cupcakes have regular and mini size each flavor. Last one gelato section. So many and only so much can eat. Rough choose couple. I ended up two oatmeal cookies, macaroon (huge twice size regular one), and four cupcakes take with me to Chattanooga. They do custom cakes that am sure are da Bonn. So, a couple days ago, I visited your local downtown bakery. I've seen Honeymoon Bakery on broad street numerous times as I was formally employed at a nearby establishment. I always thought of going in and never did. I finally did today and it was wonderful. The outside of the bakery is welcoming and has plenty of outside seating. The aroma that emerges from the inside is very nostalgic and fills you up with happiness and warmth. I got the Smores Brownie and it was delicious. You can taste the flavors with any of them overpowering each other. Super soft and will definitely satisfy that sweet tooth. Staff is amazing and is a must go when craving a bakery item. My family and I have been coming here for at least a decade. We usually get cupcakes and they are always among the best we've ever had. They are more expensive than you will find in grocery stores, but they are also significantly better. The cakes are really where they shine and are a value in my opinion. Split mini cupcakes with my husband, and sampled the cheese straws, and devoured the best dang creme Horne I've ever had the privilege to taste. It's one of their top items. Another highly recommended place by locals when I first moved here and it pretty darn obvious why. Their cupcakes are soooo good, as they are all made with love by sugar angels. Their cream cheese icing has to be the best I've ever had. Not too sweet!! I like my cream cheese icing to still taste a little bit like actual cream cheese and this is exactly what it is. My favorite is their Italian cream cupcake (which has coconut shreds and pecan bits)!!!! But all of their cupcakes are to die for As far as their specialty desserts, I have tried the eclair and cream puffs. I hate fake custard and whipped cream, but these were obviously homemade and man their are good!!! And now they DELIVER!!! Best dessert place in Rome hands down. The only and biggest con: parking. I've only been here once, with my family, but we all had a good time. Here's what I like: - It's in a neat section of downtown Rome. We'd just finished up at Mellow Mushroom and decided to walk over. - It's well lighted and roomy inside. They resisted the urge to fill every square foot with tables and chairs. Thank you, Honey Moon peeps. - I had some black-berry sorbet that was amazingly incredible. It seemed like it was at least 50% smashed up berries, just exploding with genuine blackberry flavor, seeds and all. LOVED it. - Each of my kids and my lovely wife found a flavor of ice cream that they liked. - The young folks working there were attentive and respectful, as if they enjoyed working there. I can personally vouch for the eclairs and cream puffs, both of which have generous amounts of cream wrapped up in positively delicious, fresh pastries. I am a fan of their miniature cupcakes, which allow you to try a couple of flavors when you're not in the mood to commit. Today's flavor of the day was a banana cupcake - banana bread cake, banana and caramel frosting, and a sweet banana chip on top. My inner monkey is swinging from the trees today. In the summer, check out their gelato case. They also have a few brownies every day in flavors like turtle, peanut butter, and s'more. Discovered a hidden gem in downtown Rome Honey Moon Bakery, upon entering it is an immediate feast for the senses. Everything and i do mean EVERYTHING looks incredible, food channel gourmet quality....which explains the tropies on the wall. You can pick anything you wont be dissappointed 3 trips later with 2 weeks. I went for a cookie and left with 6 cookies, 4 brownies, a creme brule, cannoli, 2 cupcakes and a ridiculous awesome rice crispy treat...that was only first trip. The staff is even better than the treats...if possible, remarkable pleasant friendly and helpful. Particularly Jimi who not only remembered me from intial visit assisted me in trying new things. I highly recommend you stop for the occasional, treat, event cakes and desserts or in my case a cheat snack. Extremely reasonably priced and definitely worth the stop. read more
