I absolutely love Honey Hut. It has became one of my go to spots whenever I'm in my hometown. On the 4th of July, my mom and I went out for ice cream. Upon arrival, not many people were there so we're able to park right in front of the ice cream shop. By there are plenty of spaces available. Upon entry, an employee greeted us immediately and started taking our order. And we were able to get our orders pretty fast. The shop was clean and inviting. Fabulous & locally owned! They started many years ago on the westside of Cleveland. When I moved east, it was one of the many things I sorely missed, so i'm very glad they have branched out onto the Eastside finally. Their honey pecan is better than anything at Mitchell's. Ice cream! Need I say more? Yah I should say more. Ok so what makes me drive 25 minutes to Solon just to go to this place for ice cream? When a couple of other places nearby but the one unique thing that makes this place cool is the toppings. You can get ice cream in a waffle or regular cone or a cup. But then there are the toppings you can get that range from marshmallow whip topping to strawberries to peanut butter to chocolate sauce and on and on! Its sooo good and you can get really creative with it. They also make their own ice cream so the flavors they have, besides the classics, are very different and unique. Pretty good, but I'd never choose this over Mitchell's if they were both nearby. I had the chocolate pecan. The pecans themselves were much better than the chocolate flavor. My wife had the honey pecan. It was good, but again, the pecans were better than the ice cream itself. Consistency wise, very similar to Mitchell's, the flavors just didn't pop as much. Compared to other choices in the immediate area, Honey Hut is just OK. The feng shui inside is odd. The flow is confusing, and when you walk in, it's a strange buildup of people confused who is in line, who is waiting for their ice cream and who is just trying to look at the menu. Our ice cream (the mint chocolate and the turtle sundae), were good, but nothing spectacular. The flavor selection was very basic, so you won't find anything super unique here. My mint chocolate was very minty and tasty, but I can't imagine craving it all the time. There's no ambience or décor except for one clock and a bee painted on the wall. They have a nice outdoor seating area, but it was totally full when we were there. I also have to give them props for their huge portions. While they don't have smalls (just mediums), a junior cup probably would've been enough for me. Overall, just fine all around. read more

Love honey hut ice cream! Absolutely the best. One thing I do not enjoy is their mask policy. I was told they will continue even after the state has lifted the mandate on June 2nd. We love this hidden treasure. There's 3 picnic benches outside that are always clean and are spaced apart. Okay- yum. Love this place so much and we were so excited it opened so close to our home . All of this ice cream is made with honey and it has a fab taste- so creamy and sweet and perfect. The orange blossom, peanut butter chocolate, and honey pecan are to die for. So is the coconut. It's the full deal here as far as ice cream shops go- sundaes, to go, dine in, scoops, comes, all of it. In the summer, the place is mobbed and you may have to wait a little to get a table, or you can sit in the nearby area outside. For now and in rainy Cleveland weather, perfect and just got three pints to take home. The prices are so great as far as premium ice cream goes - 3$ for a large scoop and 5.25 for a pint. So worth it ! East Siders rejoice; Honey Hut has finally crossed I-77 and arrived in our neck of the woods! The ice cream is fantastically rich and, considering the prices at places like Jeni's and Ben and Jerry's, impossibly cheap. It's the best ice cream in Northeast Ohio or anywhere else, and it's finally here on the East Side! Because Honey Hut was always a 20 minute drive, I only partook in the same two flavors to avoid the prospect of disappointment. The honey pecan and the chocolate pecan flavors were my go-tos, as they're the ideal combinations of sweet and salty delciousness. I hear the seasonal pumpkin is excellent, and that the coconut is tremendous so, now that Honey Hut is closer, the possibility of branching out has increased significantly. As I'm writing this, Honey Hut's only open from 12 PM to 6 PM in its opening week. Starting this weekend, March 31, 2012 I think, it'll begin its regular hours of 11 AM to 10 PM. Yet another ice cream place courts my taste buds east of Cleveland. We were pretty excited when this place opened up and it definitely wasn't disappointing. The price is great compared to other local joints. For what it's worth, the ice cream is pretty darn good. I've had Honey Pecan and Banana Chocolate Chip and they are both well-balanced, not overly sweet flavors. The banana chocolate chip was the better of the two-- really deep chocolate flavor without overpowering the banana. Would have liked to have seen some actual banana in it, though. The Honey pecan, although I think it's supposed to be their signature flavor, was less memorable. Good, but not great. It had a nice little bit of salt to complement the honey, and not too many nuts. It's not super decadent, and didn't have the richness I look for in ice cream. You can feel the lack of smoothness compared to something you might get at some of the other places nearby. However, I've been spoiled by the awesomeness of the ice cream that's popped up in Cleveland lately, so don't get me wrong-- it's definitely decent ice cream. They don't have a ton of variety of flavors but what they do have definitely seems solidly good. the layout of the store is confusing-- they have a long counter set up (like at the solon Mitchell's) but they only take orders at the registers at the end, so you end up with a lot of waiting around being confused. It also seemed like, even though we were in line, there were employees just kinda standing around doing nothing. They also don't tightly pack their pints. What's with that? All in all, you get what you pay for-- it tastes cheaper because it is. For the price, portions are ridiculously big. The ice cream is a little more plain and less rich, traditional flavors abound. I had the coconut with raspberries and it was lovely. Whichever employee picked the playlist really knew what they were doing because every song is a straight up BOP. Yum! I was finally able to check this off my Cleveland bucket list. A nice walk-in shoppe in Solon. I had their signature flavor, honey pecan, which was creamy and very smooth. Not overly sweet. Loved the ice cream. Glad to have tried it before I moved out of state. Their sizes were generous, especially the larger sizes. The junior is $2.00. The store is nice and clean, including the bathroom. The employees were attentive and helpful even providing restaurant recommendations after we tried to go to the Shinano Sushi bar next door but was closed. read more
