If you stay in the park proper, there's not as much risk for kids wandering around..... The restrooms were clean, and there were some  nice picnic areas.

After a few laps around the dog park, we walked the trail around the park. This was nice aside from the rattlesnake near the path -- yikes! Luckily it was early morning enough that I don't think it would have really done any harm but definitely keep an eye out if you go. The park is cute too with a large children's play area. There's something for everyone and even in the hot summer months there was a good crowd here.

This family-friendly park offers about three miles of hiking trails, and we decided to do the Honeybee Canyon Loop Trail. Being mostly flat, most of the trails are rated "easy", but there are a few short areas where the slope is a bit steep and you need to ascend/descend on slippery sand or gravel. Entrance to the park and parking are free; there are about 20 parking spaces. Per my AllTrails app, we walked about 1.6 miles on a route that included the rock dam, but turned back without completing the loop as it was starting to get hot, there was limited shade in the desert, and, most importantly, there's limited signage on the trail (or anywhere in the park for that matter) so we kept going off-trail. This would've been a 5-star review if the signage was better to keep us on trail.

I thought it was pretty cool the way they reflected pictures onto the ground of the animals they discussed. They taught us not just about the animals of the desert, but also about the rock formations, and constellations as well . They did an introduction before we set out on the trail and an icebreaker, which I also thought was a cool little activity to help us all feel more comfortable. I would definitely do this again, and recommend it for anyone who's never done it. This would be a great activity to bring an out-of-town friend on. FYI- the hell when you first start, the trail is pretty steep.. I was huffing and puffing a bit lol. If you have any knee injuries or struggle with steep land, you might want to sit this one out. The rest of the trail is flat after however the hill is needed to start and end the trail (it probably took like 1-2 minutes to scale it). Also to find the area where the hike starts, you'll want to drive all the way through the park until you get to the parking lot on the left. For some reason, I thought it would be pretty close to when you enter the park, however, it is a little drive.

There are four or five picnic tables and plenty of space for a bounce house. Great place for birthday parties. There are only two big kid and two baby swings. The dog park is partitioned into two separate areas based on weight. One area is designated for dogs that weigh greater than 30 pounds and other area is for dogs that weight less than 30 pounds. Each respective area has its own grass and dirt fields. For the large dog area, the dirt field measures 100 x 50 feet and the grass field measures 100 x 85 feet. There is a water spigot with community bowls, three seating areas, several community toys/balls, a few built-in obstacles, and lighting which allows the park to be open until 10pm. This dog park checks off all the boxes but I do wish there was more shaded area. At the end of the day, a dog park is only as good as the behavior of the dogs and their owners. I've only had positive experiences.

Hey, they've been standing in the corner ,neglected, and he agreed to try it. What I love is you can park at the park, or any other on the route, and just jump.on. also you will see all age groups out here. People on 10 speeds, mountain bikes and some nifty elliptical kinds. I've seen strollers, skaters, joggers and runners and four legged fur babies. The best part is we all get along. Sure,some of us are slow and others are speedy , but it gives me incentive to push myself. The park and the others along the way have restrooms, water and places to sit and relax. It has given me more insight into all the neighborhoods in the area. Yup, still a newbie here I absolutely love this resource we have available and I can say I'm loving it.

Admission for this event was only $5 so it's less than regular admission but you don't get to explore as much for the gardens and it's a bit cordoned off at night. Since it was so hot I went for the watermelon and cucumber gazpacho and their refreshing Chul 75. We also shared the carnitas nachos which were more like pulled pork so that was a little disappointing. But overall it was a fun date night where we go to see some cool art and live music with lots of cute and cozy places to explore and relax. Definitely worth checking out!

Today I started at…read morethe parking lot across from the YMCA on Shannon and took the trail along the Cañada del Oro up to La Cañada Drive. Due to all the construction on La Cañada, I was a little confused on whether the trail ended or continued across the street. I crossed LaCañada and started up a dirt trail for 100 yards but turned around since it didn't appear to be part of the linear park and I didn't know where I'd end up. There were a few other walkers and bikers that I encountered along my path and all were friendly. Signs do warn to beware of venemous creatures and one should always keep their eye on the path ahead of you. Today I encountered a medium sized rattlesnake sunning itself in the middle of the path. I've also experienced the other end of the park off Thornydale and it's a great stretch along the Cañada del Oro as well. The Christina Taylor Green Memorial Linear Park is such a wonderful way to get some exercise, enjoy beautiful views, nice people and the occasional wildlife.

The park consists of approximately 1.75 miles of paved shared-use pathway stretching from the north end of the Omni/Tucson National Golf Course on the east bank to Thornydale. It passes under at Magee Road and Ina Road, and pedestrian bridges are strewn throughout for drainage purposes. The landscaping is beautiful and helps to enhance the beauty of the walk! Two parking areas are provided: one near the Shannon Road and Magee Road intersection across from the NW YMCA/PCC and the other east of the Thornydale Road bridge across from Costco. If you haven't tried the walkway yet, its a fantastic addition to a strength training workout at the YMCA!
