2002 I reported a faulty unit to Homewater & cancelled my account after they failed to address the issue nor reclaim their unit; ..I recently received a bill for $20.00 from Homewater Which they expect byOct 2nd or they say I will be charged $1,000.00 (lol)! They kept sending glass bottles & I kept putting them back into the mail to be returned! But....they could not replace the unit i had or address this issue!??? Its been sitting in our closet for over two years non functional! &now they got the nerve to send me a bill for that?? & basically threaten me ? Homewater are being reviewed by B.B.B. So sad that Just Energy recommended this company. If you want to talk to customer service, don't pay you bill and they will contact you. That was the only way I was able to get in touch with this company. My issue is still not resolved. I was left on hold for over 40 minutes. My emails were not answered. Avoid this company like the plague!!!! Not worth the stress of lack of service or communication. You can purchase the "under the sink unit" cheaper than what they offer. Beware, do the research. I had recently had my water system installed and let me tell you I regret ever getting it. First when they came to install it they knocked something loose under my sink so I had to get that fixed before they could finish. After a week of trying to get my sink fixed I could finally use my system and the reason I wanted this was to have drinking water at home without having to carry big jugs of water up my stairs. All I drink is water and let me tell you this was the nastiest tasting filtered water I have ever drank from, even my cat would not drink his water so I within a week of having this I asked them to come uninstall it since I was still in my trial period because I was not satisfied. Then they proceed to tell me that I have to uninstall it and send it back myself. When I asked them to come uninstall it considering it's still my free trial and it's not like they left me with tools for this thing, they then told me that I would have to pay $100 for someone to come uninstall it for me! They also tried to talk me into keeping the thing saying my taste buds will get use to it, I can't even drink the water now why would I get use to that. So I finally uninstalled it myself paid to have it sent back and they still haven't given me my refund. Also their website is full of fake reviews when I came on yelp I see I wasn't the only one that felt the need to let people know the truth. Unfortunately as with many others my experience with them is horrible. Very pushy door to door sales. They lied to get the sale, they lied about how to cancel the agreement if we were not happy with the product, and lied about how the rental agreement would work, which was if we didn't continue with the 5 year term they would take out the system. Turns out that, in conversation with a lawyer they have on their side...to handle those not happy with the company's way of doing business..I got to keep a useless system which doesn't filter out much at all. Highly recommend people find a much better system that is worth the money you pay. This system in total had we stayed the full 5 years ends up costing over 4000 dollars. I may as well head to Home Depot and find something just like it for a lot less. They really are out to hustle, never wanted to address the very main reason tgat I found out just how grossly manipulating they were, which was that I was promised the right amount of filters for my household only to be told I have to pay for them because it was not stated and if I look at the contract I didn't see a specified number of filters in the contract. Which is why sometimes I would get "complimentary" filters, in reality it's what they should be doing to keep their system at the functioning level it should be at for whatever size household they offer it to. read more

Scammed their way inside my house after repeatedly telling them I didn't want the system. They seen that I was uncomfortable with the confrontation and used it against me to get me to sign the papers to install. I was told 30 day trial and cancel anytime. They want to charge me $295+ tax to get out of this scam. It leaks, I have no water pressure and it's caused tons of damage. I just want it gone and for them to leave me alone. Had this water filtration system installed in February 2016. I was a country boy that moved into the suburbs in the past year and did not have any idea was I was getting myself into. However, the system has been working fine. Except, the advantages that I was informed of (toilet ring, dry hands from harder water, etc...) seemed to be empty promises. Halfway through my fifth year with the system, I asked if they could send me another filter since the one I automatically received for 2020 seemed rather used. They said that it would cost 20$. It seemed rather odd that I was paying 60$ a month for this system and they couldn't even send me 1 extra filter for that year. After my 5 year term, I asked Greenlife (now "HomeWater" it seems), to cancel my subscription and remove the tanks from my home. Of course, they tried to avoid that by offering lower monthly payments. They also mentioned that to have it removed, it would cost me 250$ + the rest of the monthly payment. When they saw that I wouldn't accept the lower monthly payments and that I just wanted to have it removed, they still tried to avoid that by offering to get me to buy it out for 190$ plus the rest of the monthly payment. After many emails, they eventually told me that it may take a long time to get a technician to me. I told them that I understood that this pandemic has changed how many people do business and kindly asked when they could get a technician to come remove the system. Then they flipped the tables and said they couldn't get a technician out. But that I could buy out the system for 0$ and the rest of my monthly payment. At this point, I was fed up with this ridiculous dance and accepted the buy out. Now I will have to schedule an appointment with a plumber to have this system removed. I just hope that it will not be much more than the 250$ I was willing to give HomeWater. Then again, I think I'd rather give this money to a hard working local plumber, so maybe it's better this way =P read more

Had a filter system for about 8 years. Their approach at the time of purchase/installation was dishonest, to say the least... said they had to come in and check my water meter and needed to test the water (all to gain access and try to sell you their system). Anyhow, I had the system installed and it worked okay. There was definitely less chlorine taste in my water; however, the water pressure in the house was reduced noticeably, and they could never fix it. You also have to make sure to get a filter from them every year (supposed to be free), but they often "forget" to send it to you. So if you don't change the filter and contact them on your own, your water will not be chlorine-free and who knows how clean it is. When I finally had enough, I called to cancel. I had to pay an OUTRAGEOUS removal fee. This company is not very honest and the customer service is absolute crap. Recently, I noticed an extra charge on my Enbridge bill (they bill through the gas company), and it was from Greenlife/Home Water!!! Even though I had cancelled for over a year, they mysteriously billed me, then credited the money back, but "FORGOT" to reverse the HST charge. Now I have to contact them again. What an absolute WASTE OF TIME. Someone doesn't know what they're doing, or they often "MAKE MISTAKES" or "FORGET" on purpose where you end up getting charged or not getting what was promised. If this is for homewater.com in Toronto - I've had their full system now in my home for 5 years. They are really good. I was unsure at first but knew someone in business and they said, 'go with these guys' - never had a problem. This is a legit company and they are fair and great service on phone. Personally, I don't understand the negative reviews - I mean yes you can get the pushy sales rep, but whatever. As for commitment to a 5 year term, they are spending a lot of money to install and you hardly pay anything a month - the consumer has to be fair too. This is nothing but a scam. Have been nothing but lied to since the first agent came to my door. Then to make matters worse. I was lied to by the supervisor who promised me a month free. They took money out of my account and said that it was taken out up until the day they took out their filtration system. That it was planned for Friday. And that it would be a few hundred to take it out as it was an 8 year contract appearently but the rep had said his note said it would be free. . . . . Then the rep was supposed to call me back. This company is a huge scam. They lock you in to a contract that, overall, costs more than the water filter itself. The filtered water gives you a sore throat when you drink it. To cancel their services, you need to pay $190+tax fee ($215 total). They do not have an actual office location because of so many people going to complain about their services. Very respectable sales girl came to the door super friendly. Technician super friendly and respectable. I was not sure about the system but they said i can try it out for 10 days, and as long as i cancel before that i would not get charged. I got the full system water purifier and softener. But I did not notice that much of a difference in water quality and i realized after that the system is a water conditioner and not a water softer (both has their advantages and disadvantages). The system did not meet my needs, but i'm sure it might meet other peoples needs. And yes there was a credit check hit, but they let you know up front. I cancelled the system and praise God the cancellation was smooth without hassle, again a super nice technician came and removed the system. and Put everything back nicely. Again, was not for me, but seems like a nice company to deal with, i'm sure it will work for some people. read more
