Like Ms. K I worked for this horrible company started in the Marketing Dept. under that incompetent manager Shauna Larmond Phillips. I thought it would be a thorough analysis but I was so disappoinTed.it was a very basic grade school test using water colours. anyway after a THREE hour demonstration and sales pitch, I was pressured into buying their $9000 system. She was always on the phone making personal calls to her family. She spent a lot of time in her office where she laughed so loud that we all heard it. She literally yelled at grown women and made them cry. She encouraged bullying within the dept. There was a lot of gossip and backbiting. She ruled by divide and conquer. Everyday was a battleground. The turnover was incredibly high. There was no motivation to perform. There was inadequate training. There was a lot of yelling, hurling of abuses and infighting. It affected the mental health of many employees so they just left. They pay minimum wage and there are no medical/dental benefits. There is no room for advancement. I lasted just four months. Strongly advise anyone who is researching this company to do more research into this company. All I am going to say is that I am surprised that this company is associated with Home Depot. Water softener and filtration is a bang-bang product with plenty of literature available. Provided you are in the city and getting city supplied water, the water quality to your house are published values by the city, no one really has the need to come to test your water unless you're using a well or other source. A good system (installed by professionals) including a water softener, reverse osmosis (for drinking water) will cost about $1,500 to $1,600 (it's cheaper if you buy the parts and install yourself if you have the know-how). The system these guys are pushing you for are in the range of $5,000. I regret starting my research at Home Depot and hopefully this comment will prevent readers from going through the same mistake. read more

This company raised so much red flags with me, trying to push a free water testing for you. They arranged a time with me and then called me the day of the testing and they told me that the technician would ONLY do the test if my wife and my kids were there as well. This raise another red flag with me as well, since I've been a salesperson before for some health supplement company, there was a tactic that one of my co-salesperson used was to have convince or sell to the spouse and then turn to the husband and say "don't you want what's best for your wife's health?" I told them that I had to set time aside for this test and that if the technician wasn't willing to do the testing without my significant other there, then to cancel the test altogether. They would rather cancel the time and waste my time (i set time aside for our arrangement) and tried to set up another appointment with my fiance there. I told them to cancel it altogether and don't call me back. At this point, i decided to do a little investigating and found so much negative experiences that was being shared on everything from Google to yelp to glassdoor. I used to be a Home Depot customer (98% of my home renovation supplies) but with the direction they have taken with customer care and being associated with companies such as this one has made me a (80% Rona, 15% Lowes & 5% Homedepot) customer now. read more

The representative that came to my house to do the demonstration was very knowledgeable and gave me some good advice on what we should do. Seeing these reviews I regret not listening to my gut and doing my homework about this company. I am taken aback by all the negative reviews I feel sick inside. I did for quite a few years now was wanting to get a water softener system but when they called me through Home Depot I thought ok lets inquire about it. First off the sales person walks into my house not even wearing a mask and didn't even attempt to put one on. So I put my mask on. He went on and on about how good the system is and what it does for you and your pipes and all that jazz. Now I did my research on the Rain Soft system which I know is good because I have several friends that have it and love it. And now that its been installed for a while I do feel the benefits of it. My skin and hair is super soft and drinking water tastes great, and my laundry detergent and fabric softener work better. I really like the system. My review is on the sales tactics they use to get you to sign up for this. My head was spinning after with all the talk of 10 years of cleaning supplies, shampoos, soaps, and conditioner. I felt uneasy and a little bullied to leave a requested 5star review before he left my house. And I wish I asked more questions about the financial company they use. ECOHOME Financial. They have horrible reviews and my heart just sank even further, and now I fear the worst for my account. How can Home Depot associate themselves with such a company. This truly is giving me anxiety. This is a SCAM! No matter who you are and where you live, your water sample will be at the least "Hard Water". This is the first thing they say to hook you. Then offer a free water inspection that will take 30-45 minutes. It was funny when they called I wasn't available to take the call. When I called back the lady I spoke to, without asked me for my name and was able to tell me my water sample had come back as "Hard Water". I said, "Okay, so?" She said they can do a FREE detailed water inspection and tell me what exactly is wrong with it. Then proceeded to ask me for my address!!! -Lady if you don't know where I live...how do you know it's my water sample that tested positive for "Hard Water"??? Politely ended the call. Stay away from these people (they do their sales mostly door to door anyway). They aren't exactly a scam but they are a rip-off. The name of the company is actually Rainsoft but they operate under this name in Mississauga/Oakville/Brampton, google Rainsoft and you'll know what I mean. You can get everything they're selling for cheaper elsewhere. If you go to Home Depot, Sears, Costco, etc, you can find fairly good reputable filters for $500-1300 which do the same thing (at regular price, sale would be cheaper) and reverse osmosis filters for less than that. This company is not the Sony of TV's and their products have problems too so why is their product so much more expensive? Their business is mainly selling water treatment systems and reverse osmosis filters for the water in your home. They'll send someone to collect a sample and then tell you you need to make an appointment (even if you got the sample of water from a distilled bottle). Do not let them make an appointment because when you do, they won't tell you that it takes a minimum of 2 or 3 hrs to do the whole "presentation." Hopefully you've eaten dinner beforehand. They'll start the presentation by saying "we're just interested in learning more about your water." At this point, they'll conduct a bunch of tests to show how bad the water from your fridge or tap or whatever is compared to water run through their ion filter. The problem however is that their experiment and the drops they add are designed to react with the minerals found in city water. Search up water filtration on CBC marketplace on youtube and you'll know what I mean. Of course the water is supposed to have minerals in it, it's treated in order to kill bacteria and we've been consuming it for decades. One of the demonstrations they use will show you how their treated water is more efficient at laundry/dishwashing because it reacts better with soap since the minerals are removed from their filtered water which is true, the laundry/dishwashing/shower do work better. BUT from what I've researched, it doesn't save you the amount of $ they claim even if you will use a bit less detergent or soap. There are also questionable effects of using their water without minerals because it can allow for bacterial growth in your pipes (since minerals are removed), the sodium is bad for watering the grass outdoors though they claim it's good, and they'll nitpick some studies from the 90's saying even low levels of chlorine are bad for water but you can find other studies saying a complete lack of minerals or what they're adding (sodium or potassium) is even worse in drinking water. We've been drinking city water for decades, people haven't been drinking this type of filtered water for decades though en masse so we can't measure the effects and say it's better or worse for drinking. The presentation will be very convincing and then they'll try to sell you the product....it's around $6000 plus installation or whatever other charges. They'll provide incentives like a lifetime warranty (which other similar products often have) and what they claim is a 10-12 year supply of laundry/dish washer/shampoo/soap/cleaning detergent etc however, they deliver this all at once in boxes as a concentrated solution which you have to mix at home. Most people can't pay $6000 at once so they'll say that you have to pay around $80/month for 10 yrs which works out to more than $9000. They'll then proceed to show you how you're paying almost nothing by saving on water bottles/fridge filters/cleaning supplies/water heater bills. Other stuff I've found shows you actually don't save 20-30% on your water bill and spend more so it's not worth the risk and why would you buy all your cleaning supplies at once? You might save but not the amount they're saying. The company is very persuasive but the one tactic they use is to tell you that the offer is only valid right now and you have to buy it right now otherwise they won't give the 10 year supply of shampoo/soap/detergent/cleaners. This is the trap which a lot of people fall in. The company will pressure you into booking an installation appointment the next day if you choose to buy so that you don't get a full refund in case you cancel the contract within a 10 day period. The reason they want you to commit right away and give you that now or never incentive about the cleaning supplies is because I don't think they want you to go out and find a different company which will sell you the product for cheap or do outside research on their own product. read more

The truth is the appointment is a minimum of 2 hours long and this is not disclosed to you. You will also NOT receive the gift card because the sales person is not allowed to carry these with them and you will need to mail a document into their head office to receive the gift card. Once they are at your house they will take 2 hours of your time and then try to convince you to buy a $7000 system for almost $11000 (with monthly installment interest rates). When you will refuse to buy they will then try to push you to buy a $2000 water system which is available in the market for $300. When you call them to return the solution they will slap a $500 restocking charge. A complete waste of time and a huge trap. I am really surprised Home Depot is working with such companies. Had an overflow problem with the system. Reported it, and was told it must be from the laundry faucet, not the system. Things got aggravated when I received a letter from the City alerting me that my water consumption was more than 3 times the norm. Called in again. This time the response was fast and the problem resolved on the first (and only) visit by changing a major part. Service was covered by warranty, no questions asked. Cordial, prompt, fast, clean, and effective. Minor details like reprogramming my profile into the system were missed, but that is something I can do. Wish this was the response on the first call, now I'm dreading what my water bill will be like. Otherwise, love the system. read more

UGGGG..... someone from lifetime water systems just left my house. He was here for almost 2 hours!!! The only reason I agreed to have my water tested was because the person on the phone misrepresented herself to me. Someone claiming to be from Welcome Wagon called and asked if I had received all of my free samples and gifts. When I told her that I had not received these things yet she said she would make a note of it. She then offered to have a professional test my water. She made it sound like it was a courtesy because I have a new baby. I asked if the person would be trying to sell me something and she said "NO". She also said it would take a half an hour.
