Dr. Jennifer Blum was knowledgeable, compassionate and was able to diagnose and treat our pet rabbit without making me feel as if I was being charged for a bunch of unnecessary additional tests. They also were able to see us the same day that I called without expensive urgent care costs. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

Now stay tuned for entertainment from the manager trying to deny how they ripped me off. Make sure they discuss how much the whole visit would cost you, and keep your pet with you every time they inspect your pet so you, and witness what they are doing to your pet. This way you know they are charging you for something they do rather than play a sneaky game like this clinic did. I had my pet with me and still they charged for services they didn't perform.

Having said that, I've been taking my dog to Rum River for 3 years now and have never had a problem. They are great about getting him in on short notice if need be and the staff has always been very pleasant. Even my dog loves them and what dog loves going to the vet? We've had services done ranging from dental surgery/cleanings to tumor removal to vaccinations and routine check ups. They have always been very thorough and explained things well. They even call up afterward to check to see how he's doing. I'd recommend Rum River to anyone looking for a vet. In fact, I just sent my neighbor there last week!

I adopted my handsome greyhound from Northern Lights about 8 months ago. I have been blown away by the love and compassion provided from every employee at this clinic. I get phone calls from the clinic just to follow up and see how my dog is doing. They have covered ALL fees for anything pre-existing before the adoption such as the removal of a broken canine tooth. They even offered to keep my dog overnight after surgery just as a courtesy and peace of mind for us. Overall this is such a wonderful clinic. I am so happy with my greyhound adoption and the clinic we connected with in the process.

They also only push the rx diet when any complications arise - even if said animal is allergic to ingredients - causing more problems and more bills. They used to have 2 really friendly vet techs but not anymore. After they left the vet office became pretty toxic. I went in to get confirmation on a med due to there being no label and the staff mocked me in the backroom... I HEARD EVERYTHING. If you want to be the best you really shouldn't be mocking ur clients in general but def not when they're in a earshot. I will now be looking for a new vet because of this. Do better. My original issue with Wellhaven certainly put a bad taste in my mouth but since then I have had nothing but great service. My kitten was spayed here recently and had no complications. Attempted to refill simpirica trio 6 months later and was told we needed to come for a visit every 6 months. When asked why this is necessary was told it is their requirement for a biannual exam for all prescription refills. We complied with this even though that has never been required for our pet (a healthy 10 year old dog) in the past and went in for a visit. Preface all this by saying the tech was great. While at the visit they requested lab work even though it would "likely not change" the treatment plan or refills (also to note dog is extremely anxious and nervous when lab work is drawn. We try to avoid whenever possible). When asked to talk with the vet about the pros and cons of doing the labs vs not and if we would be able to get refills without seeing the vet the tech exited the room and came back stating there would be an exam fee if the vet spoke with us as it would be a consultation and exam and they would not be refilling our simpirica trio script. While it is understood there is a need for exams and tests (after calling other vets in the area) a biannual exam for heartworm protection in a healthy dog is not something other clinics require. Many things seem like money grabs or just checking boxes with this clinic vs doing what is actually in the pet's best interest.
