It wasn't the closest one to our home but the reviews we read were amazing so we were willing to drive a little further. This is an all woman staff including the 3 veterinarians who are all excellent. They are extremely caring, personable, timely with appointments and the techs are outstanding too. Dr. Bush wasn't in that day and I needed help as my cat was very sick after starting a new medication. I begged to talk with any Dr. on staff or have someone call me back before the end of the day. I was told point blank "it probably won't happen, but if they have time then they'll call." I didn't receive a call that day. Next day I was more worried about my cat and was met again with rude front office staff sighing loudly on the phone and interrupting me as I try to explain my situation and asked for Dr Bush. This time my vet was in but now I can't talk with her, but I was told to make an appointment with a tech, no Dr was needed. They wouldn't listen to my cat's situation yet and dismissed me at every opportunity. My cat lost half her body weight, continued to decline and I felt helpless. The next day I received a call from Case Manager Danielle who said she doesn't want to make excuses for how I was treated but went on to list excuses- " We are short staffed this week, Julia just doesn't realize when she's being rude but it's a problem they're working on with her.." I am so disappointed in Shakopee Vet. I have since found a wonderful place to take my aging pets. They took gentle care and concern with me and my pets and immediately found the issue with my cat. If you want supportive customer service and good veterinary care for your aging pets, I'd look elsewhere.

One concern involved a child who was repeatedly running through the hallway and looking into exam rooms. Based on interactions with staff calling the child to the back doors after he was running in the hallway, I understood the child to be associated with the clinic named Ambrose. Given that many animals are uncomfortable around children, including our own pet, it was surprising to see a child allowed in areas where patients were being examined and treated. This created an uncomfortable environment and raised concerns about animal stress and safety.

I love the photos they send each visit of my kitties! One of my cats is a senior kitty who has strict dietary concerns and needs medication twice a day. The pet sitters were great with him, cajoling him to take his meds and making sure he only ate the approved food. That was quite the feat, considering the other two cats are on a different food and can be very shy. I can't say enough good things about Preferred Pet Sitter. Knowing my cats were well cared for, including with additional dietary issues and twice daily medication, gave me the peace of mind I needed to take the trip. Unfortunately, my experience with them was horrible. First, they were unclear about their charges. When I dropped off my dog, they told me I would be charged with Standard rate. But after I picked him up, I was billed with Deluxe rate & no explanation provided. In addition, the boarding rates they listed were only for a sleeping space. You had to pay for Daycare fee if they let your dog out to play with other dogs and a bunch of other extra charges (such as the $8 for hugging/cuddling service which I never asked for). With a 12-day stay, this place costed me almost $700 total, far more than many other places would charge. Second, despite such an expensive bill and a promise for personal attention, my dog went home with open wounds and a claim "we don't know what happened" from them. I took him to the vet and found out that he was bitten with 3 deep marks. I had to pay hundreds of dollars more out of my own pocket for him to get stitches. When I called them back to express my disappointment in a very polite way, they said "We're sorry, but we really didn't hear or see anything. Plus accidents happen sometimes, you know." Overall, super sketchy & irresponsible business. Please stay away from this place if you can.

There are three different packages to choose from. It's convenient, at times pricey and not exactly stress free. I would give it a try once if you prefer to have a mobile groomer come out.
