I took my pets here for 4 years and was happy with the care they received until this year. During this incident, front office staff told me I couldn't speak with a veterinarian if it wasn't the one that I took my cat to recently. Dr. Bush wasn't in that day and I needed help as my cat was very sick after starting a new medication. I begged to talk with any Dr. on staff or have someone call me back before the end of the day. I was told point blank "it probably won't happen, but if they have time then they'll call." I didn't receive a call that day. Next day I was more worried about my cat and was met again with rude front office staff sighing loudly on the phone and interrupting me as I try to explain my situation and asked for Dr Bush. This time my vet was in but now I can't talk with her, but I was told to make an appointment with a tech, no Dr was needed. They wouldn't listen to my cat's situation yet and dismissed me at every opportunity. My cat lost half her body weight, continued to decline and I felt helpless. The next day I received a call from Case Manager Danielle who said she doesn't want to make excuses for how I was treated but went on to list excuses- " We are short staffed this week, Julia just doesn't realize when she's being rude but it's a problem they're working on with her.." I am so disappointed in Shakopee Vet. I have since found a wonderful place to take my aging pets. They took gentle care and concern with me and my pets and immediately found the issue with my cat. If you want supportive customer service and good veterinary care for your aging pets, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Before we got our got new little puppy we went thru the checklist of what we all needed. There are the basic things like a kennel, leash, dog bowls and toys. The list is really endless but one of the biggest decisions was who our vet was going to be. We were dog owners before and we were happy with our previous vets but I was interested in searching around. We landed at Shakopee Veterinary Clinic. It wasn't the closest one to our home but the reviews we read were amazing so we were willing to drive a little further. This is an all woman staff including the 3 veterinarians who are all excellent. They are extremely caring, personable, timely with appointments and the techs are outstanding too. Anoth amazing visit. The boys regular doctor, Dr Spanish is on vacation and my puppy needed help the staff was wonderful stressed I should come in which I did. The dog didn't geel well, they were able to find what was wrong and get him assistance and she was gracious and wonderful about it. The staff was wonderful talking me through it answering my questions even after I left and returning my phone calls they are wonderful at this location I will never go anywhere else. read more

I moved here from out of state five years ago with a couple mature dogs in tow. I Didn't know anyone for recommendations so googled vets and found these guys. I hit the the vet jackpot. I have been happier with these guys than any other vet I have had (I fostered for different organizations so have seen quite a few). My boys were adopted so obviously came w their fair share of problems. This team never judged and always went the extra mile. One of my boys had to be let go during the pandemic and they let 3 of us in to be with him which meant the world to us. My other boy passed very unexpectedly last week (he was 14) and they were all so great. They got us in with no warning and didn't rush us even though I know they needed the room for scheduled visits. When I picked up his ashes last night, they had saved a lock of his hair as a keepsake and I can't find the words to describe how much that means to me. Okay I'm not going to lie, the building this place is in leaves something to be desired. I often wish that they'd somehow put in at least some decor in the waiting room. It's just so... bleh. That along with the wait time, which we have experienced a handful of times, can be rough. These are the only two reasons I am not giving this place a five star rating. But these things aside - both veterinarians here are fantastic. They have both been thorough and answered any questions we have about our pup. Often times we'll call in "freak out" mode and these guys will reassure us, gladly. They are VERY thorough, to ensure your pet is getting the best care possible. I have a soft place for Dr. Spanish, but Dr. Kelso is also great! read more

I really like the clinic, and the vet techs/vets are great. They don't pressure you or try to "up-sell," they just give you the facts and let you make the decisions. The quality of care is excellent, and it isn't outrageously priced (I wish that wasn't a factor, but it does help!) That said, the receptionist is horribly rude. Every time I have called she has snapped, interrupted me, spoken in clipped, half-sentences and been generally abrupt and harsh. Having to take your pet to the vet is stressful enough without someone sighing at you and cutting you off in the middle of a sentence to growl at you. I wish she would take the time to collect herself before answering the phone. I like the care enough that I'll give them another chance or two, but if I keep being treated like that on the phone, I can't say I won't start looking elsewhere. read more

Horriable customer service.. Lady had no time to listen to me and was absolutely disgusted with me because i did not know exactly what my dog needed. I have not brought her to a vet yet so i was not sure what she may or may not need. The lady made me feel like a complete idiot and this is just on the phone. I would hate to see what she is like in person or how she treats the animals when she is having a bad day. Not going to find out just going to go elsewhere. Yikes read more

I've been here a few times with my cat that I adopted recently. I have always been able to get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time, and the staff are friendly. My cat has been having litterbox problems, and the veterinarian went out of her way to tell me to call her with any problems. She told me not to feel like I was "alone" in this, which I really appreciated, as my situation has been very frustrating and disheartening. She has always returned my calls in a timely manner, and I have never felt like I was being rushed through the phone calls. She has offered many suggestions (which don't involve me coming back to the vet, so she clearly isn't primarily concerned about selling me unnecessary services), and she is very sympathetic to my situation. It's comforting to know I have a great professional to give me advice when I need it. (Also they have a Keurig in the lobby which is great for early morning appointments!) read more

I cannot say enough great things about the staff at the Shakopee Veterinary Clinic. Our dog was 13 years old and his health was failing rapidly for the last 6 months of his life. I was waiting for him to give me a sign to let me know when his time was up. When the time came I called our regular vet, the prices involved were outrageous. Losing a family member of 13 years is hard enough, then to have to break the bank on top of it is criminal in my mind. The Shakopee Veterinary Clinic Staff was so compassionate both to Willie and my family, I will never forget it. I won't bring any future pets anywhere else. Thanks again to all of you!! read more
