I brought my dog there for shots and a nail trim I was there last a couple of years ago. They had lost my records stating they had a new system. that's an excusable whether or not you change a new system that mistake should never happen. I even gave them my receipts of my dog the last visit. They scanned them into the system as I watched. I specifically asked for 3-year rabies shots they gave me rabies shot for one this was never communicated to me. after I saw the bill I saw it was one year instead of three actually nine months it would have been expired according to the expiration date. I asked why and they said because I was overdue by many years which wasn't true. Later I called him on the phone and said it was about a month or two the rabies shot had been expired and the lady didn't give me a definite time span regarding when they actually had to do the one year versus the three year. She said that is too long we will have to start over doing the one-year rabie shots. Later that day someone contacted me and told me they found my records which is false I am the one who gave them the records and saw them enter it into the computer. It appears it was some sort of a cover-up they weren't being totally honest with me. They never did tell me how many months rabies shot could be expired without having to revert to the one-year rabies shot. However, they did change my next vaccination to 3 years which they sent me some paperwork via email. Also when my dog got trimmed they brought her back and her nails were bleeding. the older lady veterinarian didn't even know it. For some reason they used to always do the shots and everything right in front of you in a back room but instead she took our dog to another room. I was never asked about any other vacation shots which I may or may not have taken. She just put denied treatment or something to that which wasn't true she never asked. Anyways not a good vet I don't think I'm going to be going back. I think the communication was very poor as well as the service. read more

I made the mistake of taking my 15 year old dog for a quality of life check up, and it was her first visit here. We stopped going to the previous vet because they didn't see an obvious bone break on an X-ray (the U of M saw it on the same X-ray) and never seemed to remember anything about our 3 dogs. My oldest dog had been suffering from a collapsing trachea for almost a year and she declined quickly. By the time I made the appt, I had accepted that it was near the end of my pet's life; even though Rilo was still herself between coughing/collapsing episodes. In the last month, she had started to faint/collapse/stroke/seize? after her coughing fits; while urinating a couple times. It's Covid, so animals are taken in w/out the owners and they call you; I hate it. She was in there for 1.5 hrs alone. The vet tells me her heart & lungs sound good, and she has severe trachea collapse. She still eats, drinks, and is interactive so it's not her time to go yet. Vet said she has severe dental disease, and it probably hurts to eat and she may be causing her weakness/falling. She gave us cough suppressants and a piece of paper about home euthanasia, as well as a glimmer of hope that my baby had more time. Lastly, vet says if she falls over and is unconscious for more than a minute, to call the animal hospital. I had gone to appt expecting to be told to end her suffering in the next few days. As I drove out of the parking lot, my dog had a coughing fit and falls over limp and defecated, I thought I lost her right there. I pulled over and called the vet (I was 5 blocks away) and no one answered, so I raced home. She perked up by then and ate and drank, and was never unconscious, just dazed. I still had the vet's words in my head and weeks of cough suppressants-I had false hope we had more time. Rilo got worse the next night; drastically. I called and left a message and no return call. She continued to have coughing/collapsing episodes, and pooped and threw up a couple times and I could tell she was suffering. I should have taken her to ER, but that didn't register with me. I made her comfortable and called for a home euthanasia appt for the next night. 3 hours later she had an episode and stopped breathing. She died within 55 hours of her vet appt, where I was told it wasn't her time yet. I failed her because I didn't end her suffering, because I trusted the word of a vet I had never met, because it didn't register to go to the emergency vet to save her from suffering because I didn't understand her illness and all her end-of-life symptoms. I wasn't prepared to know the signs; I kept focusing on the time between her episodes. She was acting like herself. After her traumatic end, I researched tracheal collapse, quality of life & signs death is near. Rilo checked lots of those boxes, but I wasn't informed on what to look for. There was no transparency of how her disease would kill her or to go to an ER vet for emergency euthanizing. I thought I had more time before the home euthanasia. I had previously accepted she would pass peacefully and she didn't. I have extreme guilt on how the end of my pet's life was. At this point; I feel like I'll never get over it. My mind was in a weird pre-grieving spot, and I didn't get the right guidance and knowledge. I had never dealt with losing a pet firsthand, and I am ashamed I didn't do my own research until it was too late. Maybe if they had answered their phones/returned voicemails, they could have given me guidance. I was in a state of shock about losing her. We rely on doctors to give us all the information to be prepared. She had all the signs of nearing death and the vet missed them all, and I trusted their advice. I'm devastated and I failed my pet in many ways. I can't help but think the vet visit had something to do with this. Before the visit Rilo was collapsing 1-2 times a week. After visit she was passing out every 4 hours while vomiting and pooping. Did they press too hard? How does a vet not realize the collapsing was fainting because of her trachea? Brand new? Honestly I used to love this place the staff was great the place was clean and it was a great price. I don't know what happened this place is filthy. The floors I get with the construction but they don't clean exam tables. Hair/treat pieces/gunk all over. They have a sign that warms of dog flu but they don't believe in preventing your pet getting sick by cleaning? The vet for some reason wanted to exam my puppy on her 3rd visit by herself. What if I had questions? I was paying for a vet visit. So he came in the room and sprayed that fake cheese on their dirty exam table so she could lick it and gave her shots after a quick exam. The veterinarians here are wonderful, but trying to call to get an appointment or refill a prescription is an exercise in frustration. If you can get to a human, it's an answering service & when they transfer you to the Chaska clinic, it goes to voicemail. I live in Chaska, so it's not that hard to just stop by, but if I need to get hold of a vet, it becomes a problem. There was never an issue until Value Care put in a new phone system to accommodate their clinic in Richfield. Unfortunately, if this issue is not resolved, I will be forced to find a new vet for my 2 dogs & my cat. read more

I had a great customer service experience with Carrie from ValueCare Vet today. I had a mixup trying to get heartworm from Chewy and I wasn't sure how to resolve it. I'm very lucky that I got Carrie on the phone because she carefully looked through our dogs records and said that she thought she could help us resolve this. Carrie took my number and called me back in a couple hours to let me know that she got the issue resolved with Chewy!! I love Value Care Vet. I have been bringing my cat and dog here for 2 years. They are always very attentive to my concerns and very thorough in checking my pets over. Their customer service has greatly improved also. They were never rude just super busy and understaffed so it was very hard in the past to get calls back or schedule appointments. Now usually they answer right away or call back within an hour or two and can get my pets in pretty quickly. I recommend ValueCare to all my friends and co-workers. read more

The rescue group that I foster with started using Valucare Vet Clinic. So I thought I would give it a try with my animal. My dog needed his teeth cleaned and possibly pulled. He was also due for shots at the time so why not do it all. I came in for the free consultation to get the price. The tech was so friendly and wonderful with me and my dog. The day I came in for the teeth cleaning, they were very busy checking in everybody and unfortunately, a dog that had passed away had come in too. The person at the clinic checking everybody in was so wonderful handling every situation and taking the time that every animal and person needed. I was extremely impressed with the price and I felt the level of care was wonderful. My dog, Perry was well cared for and received all the necessary shots for the year. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. I had to go to this vet to get my pup spayed as she is a rescue and this is where they wanted her to go. When I first walked in I wasn't greeted by anyone. I also watched one of the girls drag a pup by it's leash while it yelped and got choked by it's collar. I heard the poor dogs nails scrape on the floor the whole way back to it's room. Then they just took my dog without giving me any information. The girl told me I would get a call in 10 minutes to explain some stuff, I waited an hour then I had to call them to get my information. I dropped her off at 8:00am and waited till 3:30pm to call and ask if my pup was ok and ready for pickup. They responded with oh she's been ready to be picked up for a while. I proceeded to tell them that they never called me to tell me she was ready. When I went to pick her up I told them again that I never got a call and wished they had informed me she was ready, as I had been worrying all day about her. She then told me that they tried to contact me multiple times which is completely false because I had my phone on me the whole day and I have no missed calls from them. So many things wrong with this place. Please do not take your pets here!!! read more

Worst vet clinic ever. Took our dog in because she had been panting and shaking. Vet looked at her briefly and said she was fine. May be going deaf as she is 10 Panting and shaking continued so took her to another vet. Turns out after xrays and bloodwork which was never done at value vet, that she has a heart condition. She is now on three medications. Worst vet ever. And the people that handle the phones and charges are horrible. Tried to give us someone elses bill that was twice the charge read more

This review is not based on the veterinary clinic but the salon inside of it. I took my dog in to get his nails trimmed and the lady trimmed it too short. Five of his nails were trimmed too short and caused him to bleed. One in particular was trimmed so short that we had to take him to the vet because it wouldn't stop bleeding hours later. Now, I understand that his nails are black and it's harder to see where the nerves starts, however, she mentioned that his nails on his hind legs were already short but she continued to clip them. She seem cold and wasn't sympathetic as he cried when she did it. I'm fine paying for a nail trim, but I don't need every nail to be trimmed. Just the ones that needed it. You're dealing with pets, some owners including me are over protective of our little ones. Tenderness and care is a must. read more

They wont return my call. My dog suffers from severe allergies starting in August every year. Last year they finally prescribed prednisone and that gave him welcome relief. This year, his allergies have started again and I cant get anyone to return my calls. I have left four different messages and spoke with a receptionist that said someone would call me back. They called me to bring my kitten in to be nut. they called me at 4:18pm and said they had to do it the next day and to bring him in 7:30-8:30am we got there at 7:35am and was told they can't do it because they had no vets in for the day I drove 38 miles each way they should have called me or some thing there was another person there and the same thing. We got the cat from forever homes and the nut. was to be inc. in the fee also the day before i asked if the mirco chip would also be done and they said that it had already been done. I took my cat to my reg. vet to have the surgery done and they said they could not find any mirco chip. in short don't use this vet they only have one vet there as fare as I know and the customer service sucks. it cost me over $400.00 to have the surgery done and I will be sending them the bill. and if they don't pay it I will sue them in a hart beat. also do not deal with forever homer pets the are just a pain in the ass. read more

We had to bring our 18 year old dog in and have him put to sleep because he was having walking issues and pain. The staff members and the doctor were completely amazing. They helped make an unbearably awful situation a little better. I even felt they understood how hard it was for our family and they were totally accommodating. I would highly recommend the clinic. We received a sympathy card a few days later and I believe they were completely sympathetic and understanding of our difficult situation. read more

I took my dog to ValueVet after my regular vet told me he needed a dental and a possible tooth extraction to the tune of about $650.00. ValueVet got me an appointment within a few days. The checkup was free and the vet told me that there was no need to clean the dog's teeth (which I already suspected because there was almost no tartar) and that the suspect tooth just had a minor chip that was so minor she couldn't tell if it wasn't just the way the tooth was. Since then, and going to another vet at my regular vet practice, they confirmed that he does not need a dental. I'm pretty sure the first vet was trying to upsell me. But, after that, I tried 3 times in two days to make an appointment for another dog at ValueVet in Richfield. All 3 times I got a voicemail, left a message and never received a return call. I also sent an email and never received a response from that either. So, that rules them out for me in the future because if I need to schedule an appointment I need to do it and not putz around and never hear from the vet. That's just really crappy customer service. Also, not all of their services are cheaper. I compared costs of their basic services to my regular vet and found that the base vet visit was much cheaper ($25.00 vs $70.00) but that some of their vaccines were actually more expensive than at my regular vet. When I figured in my drive time and gas expenses (45 minutes each way to Chaska) and the fact that they were no unresponsive to my calls I decided to just stay with my regular vet for now. Though, I may try out VetPartners Vet Hospital and see what I think. read more

I've been bringing my shih tzu here for a few years now and the times that we have seen Dr. Thoreson I was impressed by how much interest he took in my dogs health issues, listened to my concerns and has helped me in finding ways to make her more comfortable since she has epilepsy and suffers from recurring seizures every other month. I've brought my dog to many vets over the past 5 years since my dog began having health issues to diagnose her and find affordable treatment and am really glad I was able to find this clinic. They are much more affordable than other places we have been. The only issue I have and continuously have is that because my dog takes 2 different seizure medications, I have to call in every other month or so to get them filled and every time I call I am told they will call me back when its ready...I never hear back and when I call back I am told they never filled the prescription and ask who i spoke too. This is incredibly frustrating when my dog relies on these medications and also that it happens almost every time I need one refilled. They could use a little help with their communication and organization, and also getting a hold of someone can be a hassle since you typically have to leave a message and wait for someone to call you back. That would be my only concern. read more

I had my first appointment for physicals for my two dogs 1-14 2019 with a vet named Bauer. It was their first appointment so I went and personally a week and a half in advance with photocopies of all their records prior to their appointment. I waited in the room almost 35 minutes before the vet came in. My husky was an abused dog and is timid he's 14 years old I've had him for nine years. He was afraid and she refused to touch him until he was muzzled which added to his anxiety. She checked both dogs ears and her gumline listen to the heart and that was the end of their physicals. My husky needed surgery on his front leg as he had a growth and he had had one removed about five months prior to that exact same thing well obviously she didn't read the records I had supplied her with a week and a half ago because she had no idea. My Collie has a gum disease and had gone to blue Pearl earlier and had his gums re-defined she had no idea about that. Which was also in his records. And said all your dogs have gingivitis. Well if she had read the record she would have seen that they had their teeth cleaned about five months ago and I do that yearly she replied that it needs to be done every six months and baseline will cost me $200 each dog. My dog was also supposed to be on an anabiotic per his former vet. She knew nothing of that never wrote out a prescription or Filled a script for him. I keep my dogs on heartworm year around because of the up-and-down winters we've had in prior years. And guess what they had no heart worm there. I came to this clinic because it was recommended by my brother who sees a guy doctor there. I wouldn't let this woman take care of a pet mouse. read more

I was referred to the Valuecare Veterinary Clinic by a good friend. She has brought not only her own dogs to this clinic, but also the foster dogs through her rescue, so I knew she had a lot of experience to base a referral on. My friend and I both have a rare breed of dog (Chinese Cresteds), and the vet tech told me that she had read up on the breed to be more knowledgeable when my friend started going there. She knew that they have dental issues due to genetics. My dog Murphy needed his teeth cleaned, and I had gotten a quote of between $500 to $750 from my previous vet, which didn't include any extractions. I contacted Valuecare and was given a quote of between $120 and $160, which did not include extractions. I brought Murphy in, I could see that he felt comfortable right away. We discussed what I expected of them, and they came through with flying colors. Murphy came home with shiny white teeth and a healthy mouth, as well as nicely trimmed nails. He had one extraction of a broken tooth, and my total was $180. That's a huge savings. I live approximately 30 miles away, and it was well worth the drive to save a *minimum* of $570! Murphy doesn't take to strangers very easily, but he loved this vet tech. I gave the clinic 4 stars instead of 5 because they don't have xray equipment. I feel that this is an important part of veterinary care. I will continue to bring my dogs to the Valuecare Veterinary Clinic. I feel that the services they provide for the fees they charge are great, and the staff truly cares. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. The service is great which is exactly what you are looking for when looking for medical care for a family member. read more

Will never take any of my pets to the one in Chaska again. My two kittens were fine then after we started taking them in here they both got sick and stayed sick. When we tried to take the kittens to another clinic we requested the records be transferred to the other vet. we didn't receive a response from this clinic either time. finally had to have the clinic we went to request them to be transferred. both kittens are gone now. one passed away yesterday from illness, the other we had to have put to sleep today because he was too far gone. not happy with this clinic. read more

My puppy got spayed there for free as part of her foster adoption agreement. She got done at noon and despite calling 4 times and leaving a voice mail, they did NOT call me back and tell me she was ready to be picked up. When we dropped her off, we were told we would be called when she was done. My boyfriend had to drive there before closing because they had not gotten back to us. When he asked them about it they said they "forgot to call". I was seriously worried about my puppy and not happy. ALSO, sent us back with the blood results for the wrong dog. But don't worry doggo Lima Johnson, your blood work came back normal! ALSO X2, was told boosters was included as apart of the vaccination price, but still charged us $25 for each so it was the same as the original cost for the set of shots. Like seriously??? This is my fur baby and honestly I'm pretty upset. She's alive and seems good which is all that matters though. read more

Although the prices are good I will not return for services. I brought my dog in to get spayed and update shots. When I dropped off for surgery I wrote all over the paperwork as a reminder to do the shots. I was informed that it was required in order for surgery to even be done. I spoke with the vet tech and she said it would get done. After I picked up my dog and got home I noticed on the printed receipt that only the surgery was done. My dog did not get any shots at all, which I've been told can be dangerous going into surgery. I called the clinic and spoke with the vet tech. She informed me that she had to check the paperwork I signed and her notes. After doing so, sure enough she even had it in her notes to do the shots and never did. Then they proceeded to tell me that it's $25 for a visit because I needed Rabies, which is with the Dr. I don't live close and my dog just had surgery, there was no way I was going to transport my dog back or pay for something they clearly missed. I also referred my friend to go there for surgery because of the cost. She was scheduled the day before me to go in. After I told her what happened with our dog she looked at her receipt as well and sure enough they did not give the shots needed required for surgery. They gave her the same run around. Check and double check your receipts and make sure before you pay or leave that they completed all services. They claimed that it had never happened before when in fact it happened the day before me. Although this place is cheap, they are too cheap! I will be going back to my old clinic at any price. It's worth paying for the sincere customer service and knowing that all services will be done properly. Same with grooming, although it is cheap there its much more worth paying a higher price and knowing that everyone in the clinic is on the same page. Cheap grooming equals a noticeably cheaper haircut. My dog is my baby and I want the best. I would pay anything to have a better experience. They haven't been open a full year and they can't even keep their staff stable. If you go to a higher end clinic, I suggest you stay. And think back about your other clinic, how often do you see the same people every time. My dog recognizes the staff and loves being there. This place replaced their groomer who was ten times friendlier than who they have now, in no time and last I walked past I haven't seen the one very friendly front desk lady anymore. She would be the only reason I would return. Most likely replaced as well. I hope this helps others. It's worth paying a higher price for your furry friend! I'll never return... read more

We have two cats we rescued from a farm and they needed to be declawed. We priced it out with a normal veterinary clinic in Chaska and knew there was no way we could afford just to have them declawed at that clinic. Value care vet is good for routine shots and surgeries. We have always trusted them but recently we brought in our GSD in for severe diarrhea and weight loss. They did a fecal study and told us everything was fine. I insisted on starting him on Flagyl for the diarrhea, which the vet did only because I requested it. Told me they were happy with the weight loss. My GSD had lost over 20 lbs in 2 months. We left started my GSD on the antibiotic, but nothing improved. Still having watery loose foul diarrhea with more weight loss. Called the Value care vet they couldn't get him for a week. Finally very worried I took our GSD into a Vet clinic in Chanhassen. Found out our GSD colon contained 90% bad bacteria and only 10% good bacteria, which is causing the severe diarrhea. Value care vet said they had done a fecal study everything was fine. What a difference in the results. Chan Vet Started our GSD on higher dose of Antibiotics and Probiotics, which helped for a bit. Now we have found out our GSD might have insufficient pancreas. If I would have listened to what Value care vet said we might have lost our GSD. Because of this we are no longer bringing our dogs to Value care vet. Nice to save money, but may cost you more in the end. read more
