Have you ever made an incredible discovery, but not wanted to share it with anyone else, lest your…read morespecial spot lose some of its magic? That's how I feel about Village News. However, I'm terrible about keeping secrets. Plus, especially in this challenging business climate, local shops need all the support they can get. If you are a beer lover who enjoys rare and aged bottles of hard to find or out of production beers, this unassuming spot has a remarkable and delightful selection of brews I never expected to stumble upon in a tiny Pennsylvania town. Part of me wanted to buy everything and find a way to schlep it all back to Michigan. Instead, I chose to just get what I could enjoy on this trip, and save the other bottles for those fortunate souls who might learn of the treasures that await inside. I got: The latest vintage (2020) Bourbon County Barrel Stout, but the Kentucky Fog variant which I had never seen before. It was the best BCBS I've had to date. A large format bottle of Goose Island Halia from 2016 which was simply delightful! It was drinking perfectly, and I was tempted to go back and see if they had any more. A large format bottle of Goose Island Lolita from 2016, which was also drinking well, and was a pure pleasure with the integrity of the raspberries holding up to the years. A New Belgium La Folie from 2017, which I had the chance to try back in 2017, so it was super fun to taste a funkier version of it with more years in the bottle. The Smuttlabs Brett & I may not have held up quite so well since its 2016 bottling. Most of the carbonation had dissipated. That said, its brightness was the perfect pairing for some charcuterie back at the family farm. Similarly the Wild Devil Brett IPA from Victory Brewing, aged in red wine barrels, didn't quite hold up as well to the years. However, it was still fun to drink. But I didn't even scratch the surface. I asked the bartender if I could take a snapshot of the beer list to show my friends in case they wanted additional bottles. She said yes. And since I consider so many folks in the Yelp Community to be my friends, here it is. Hopefully I can make it back to Bedford in December. All I ask is that you leave me a couple of bottles so I can try some more rare and old beers without having to stand in line with the bearded masses of craft beer chasers. The weird gray market of beer trading is just not my scene.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Salad portion was a bit small, but the coffee was delicious.read more

I was told it's a great place to eat if your in the area. Its located in one of the busiest parts of Elk Country, near Benezette PA. During leaf peeping time-this place was crazy busy but we took our chances. Being very loud... I pointed to the item on the menu, simple chicken tenders and a side salad. She asked what dressing I would like ect. I got 4 chicken nuggets and no salad. She said it would take a while for a side salad, and charged for the side of ranch dressing? My sister, another simple order, chicken tender dinner that came w fries. she asked to upgrade the fries to add chili, waitress say ok. She got her chili on a separate side of fries which she was charged for Next, a bowl of chili- he got a bowl of cream of Broccoli- The only thing that came out right was a cheeseburger! I swear no one is trained right And I'm not sorry for saying this, but if you know that it's the busiest weekend at the end of summer, GET SOME REAL HELP! PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT PEOPLE ARE ORDERING! Besides the gripe, they said the food was good but the service was terrible, at the bar at least.

There was a great blend of spicy and a surprise sweet almost maple hint that I wouldn't think I'd like if I saw it beforehand. It's next door to the hotel and when we went it wasn't so busy that we were ignored but they staff were certainly being kept on their toes (Father's Day weekend, graduations, hotel guests...). They have both indoor seating (complete with a bar if you'd like to sit there) and a really nice looking patio area. The food was fantastic. Our server was great too; she was really friendly and helpful with recommendations. I ordered the reuben sandwich, which was deeeelicious. The salmon was apparently wonderful too, from what my partner said. And I ordered the macaroni and cheese from the kids menu but it was huge. My baby loved it and since it was so huge there was too much for her, so I had the rest at a later time. They had a really good strawberry lemonade, of which we (my daughter and I, because of course she had to have some) drank several glasses. Our server even brought me a to-go cup of it because she said it looked like we were slowing down and may be near finishing. I didn't ask her to bring me a cup of it to go, and wouldn't have thought to ask, so I was very happy she brought it for the rest of our ride to Cleveland. But perhaps my favorite part of the meal were the appetizers. We ordered some macaroni and jalapeño bites which were a hit as far as myself and the little one were concerned, with not too much heat that she could enjoy them. The restaurant has a Brussels sprouts appetizer, but they do it as an "of the week" special. The week we were here it was inspired by elote, so it had some corn and cheese and stuff on it and they were so good. I love Brussels sprouts, and will happily try them prepared in a new way. As of June 2026, I think they are short staffed. Our food took a little longer than usual but that was ok; it gave us a chance to chat and relax. Just be patient if you visit in the near future since they are down an employee or two! But even with that, it was a pleasant evening, the staff were fantastic and helpful, and the food totally hit the spot.
