Hands down the best place for breakfast! The portions are huge, and the pricing is perfect. I travel cross-country a lot, and to this day, I have yet to find a restaurant that serves breakfast at the price of Checkers Grill. Prowling around the back roads of central PA, I started to feel a mite peckish. And when you feel peckish in the middle of nowhere, good luck! Because the first few towns I went through had nothing. Those are always the best, and Checker's is no exception! The prices are a throwback to days of old. We came at a busy time before an event. The staff were overall friendly and working hard but struggling to keep up. I don't fault them for that. The chicken itself wasn't my favorite. Breakfast is great too. Large helpings. Burgers excellent. No complaints. 1 waitress alot of times but she is quick but be patient if you are there at rush hour. This is not fast food. Stopped in while in town at the recommendation of a local. Had the BLT which was great, thick cut bacon, fresh tomato (tasted locally grown) and plenty of mayo. I also had the house made Checkers Chips with salt and vinegar seasoning. My husband had the Philly omelette and it was great too. Quiet diner, definitely a spot where locals go. Some food was great - burgers, appetizers, kids meals; however, fries were underdone (almost raw) and there were only 2 waitresses for the entire lunch rush. Where to begin.... if you like classic american food like steaks, chicken, BURGERS, fries. This is the place to go. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, where we are known for our cheese steaks. But let me tell you, this place here has one of THE BEST sandwiches i ever had. I ordered the big dixion, came with mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, fries, steak with american cheese on all one roll! it was by far the most delicious thing i have ever ate, second to a philly cheese steak of course! hahah, but this is a great, clean place. service was great and quick. great food at a great price. highly recommend to anyone of any age. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat and wasn't disappointed. I forget what the sandwich was called but it had chicken fries and BBQ sauce and I wasn't disappointed. Only two beers on tap however and a small dining area. Quick service even though they were busy and waitress was friendly. read more
