I hired this company on May 30th for a June 19th move from one house to another within the state of Florida. The man that I spoke with was very nice and provided an appointment confirmation and email quote the same day. I was told that someone would be contacting me the week before the move to visit my home, assess the needs and to make sure everything would be set for 19th.
Nobody reached out to me the week before, as promised. On Wednesday (the day before the move) I got a phone call from the manager that he would show up at 4 pm. I explained that I I would be home. He showed up late - just before 5pm on the evening before the move. He told me the movers would bring 20 boxes with them the next day and a special box for my curved television. I understood I would have to sign a waiver to transport my tv and monitors. I was told that we would be called in advance the next morning to meet the team at the storage unit, this didn't happen.
Moving day: They did not bring a box for my curved tv and only brought us 10 medium sized moving boxes. Three of the five employees that I encountered during that day were very nice and professional. We understood that we had a lot of items and that if it took longer, that we would be charged for additional hours.
4-5 hours into the move, we were informed that the second truck was full and that we had the option to leave the rest of our personal possessions at the first home or that they could call another truck. We explained that we did not have the ability to transport them ourselves and did not understand why they did not say something sooner. The employees then called their manager and we were told that the manager would bring his own truck and be there in 30-60 mins. We told the movers to head to the new house and to start unpacking, as we really had no other choice. We told them to call us if they had questions about placement of items and that I had put signs up in the house of which room was which.
After over two hours of waiting, I texted one of the drivers asking where his manager was and that nobody had even called me to communicate anything. I asked why the manager didn't call me and I was told he was busy. It had started storming outside. When the truck finally arrived, we brought everything into the garage for them and helped to throw items on the truck. We were done loading in 30 mins. The manager arrived in his own vehicle to supervise but left one driver on his own to transport the items.
None of the employees contacted us to ask any questions or give any progress updates. When we arrived at our new home, both trucks were still there, and half the employees were hanging out in the truck while a couple were working. The third truck arrived and that person sat on the outside of his truck and refused to move any of the items while he informed the other employees "I was just paid to drive the truck".
Final invoice and payment: My "invoice" was numbers scribbled on a piece of paper. They tried to charge me almost double the initial quote - every last minute of the move (even with all of the problems) and fees for the other moving truck.
After I reiterated the issues with communication, the tardiness of the 3rd truck, us being left for two and a half hours at the first house with no communication, the fact that we were not there to supervise or guide the movers so I would have to move most things around myself the "manager" slightly discounted the total fee. It was paid. The receipt (16 duplicates received finally in the middle of the night) had a different company name and barely any information.
I was promised a formal invoice and a call the next day, still nothing days later. I received a text with an excuse that Kalib was busy volunteering. We continue to discover damaged items that were labeled fragile. Screws and tools left on the floor. One computer desk that was in good condition prior to the move collapsed when the computer was placed on it, destroying our computer.
This was an absolute nightmare for us. I have all communication documented and saved. read more
