5 Stars - Honest, Fast, and Friendly! I brought my car into Hometown Auto Repair for a routine oil change, and I was really impressed with the whole experience. The team was fast, professional, and very easy to work with. While I was waiting, I remembered a strange noise my car had been making and asked them to take a quick look. They found that a bar running along one of the axles had come out of place. Without hesitation, they took it apart, fixed the issue, and had everything back together in about 15 minutes. The best part? When I went to pay, I realized they hadn't even charged me for the repair. I would've gladly paid for the work, but their honesty and kindness were such a pleasant surprise. After seeing a drop of oil on my driveway I dropped my car off to be evaluated. They discovered a hairline crack in the oil pan. Since my car is a Hyundai, they had to order the new part. They went out of their way to work with me on scheduling the repair even to the extent of providing transportation to and from the shop. I took my car a second time because of the auto stop/start control. I didn't know my older car was equipped with that and wish it weren't. But Chris ( I believe that was his name) explained it thoroughly and told me of a way to turn that function off. The staff is very friendly, efficient and customer oriented. Let me just start by saying that the owner Phillip is a stand up guy. We had been having overheating problems with our 1994 Chevrolet C1500 tried everything on our own to figure out what the problem was. We came to him with our truck and let him figure out what the mystery was. He definitely had to think outside the box but figured out the problem and now it runs amazingly with no overheating issues. Update: "under new management" = Run. Tried to charge me $1,000 just to open my car up without diagnosis so I told them I'd go back and pick it up. Then decided to call me back stuttering saying they made a mistake on the amount of hours they were charging. I drove 45 min out of my way because I had great previous experiences & trusted them here but wow. How disappointing. read more

Thumbs way Up to TXEngineWerx. We were working in the area and had trouble with our truck that wouldn't start. My wife found Phillip here on Yelp and we decided to give it a shot. Phillip hooked me up with a tow truck and got my truck to his shop. He found the problem that other mechanics couldn't find and got my truck back in the road after like one hour and a half, including the new part delivered. What a great coincidence this was today. We were already looking for a new mechanic and it looks like our search is over now. We live in Katy and we will drive all the way to Magnolia because trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanics are super hard to find nowadays. 5 stars to Phillip and his crew. read more

Took my 1985 k5 blazer to get a new wiring harness after sitting for a month at the shop I got a call giving me a quote of 2 to 3 grand. After many frustrating phone calls and almost 8 months and only 20 hrs of labor on my car I was charged 5 grand and drove home with some things fixed and others worst like my speedometer no longer working and the car randomly stalling out. Although nice people at the shop I wasn't impressed at all with their pricing or timely ness. I wouldn't recommend. read more

I live 1.5 hours away and pass numerous repair facilities but I will not let anyone else work on my 2014 Mustang. With over 200,000 miles these guys keep it running like brand new. Recently had the struts and a sensor replaced and they did it quickly and their rates are always reasonable. I'm very happy with their service and professionalism. read more

I went to get my 100K service done here and Mr.Philip and his team of mechanics do a great job here. They are a great alternative to going to the dealership. My last dealership experience was fair at best, I went to get a recall issue addressed and their customer service was lousy and indifferent. Here it's the complete opposite. You get the attention and personal care that you may not ordinarily get from a dealership...unless you're buying a ride and you haven't signed the contract yet...haha! But seriously, a very great plus is the fact that Mr.Philip runs an honest business and is very knowledgeable. They treat every vehicle as if it was their own. I live a solid 30 miles from this place but found it on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. I arrived at 7AM and as soon as I got there, they took my car to the back to get started on it. I really appreciated the promptness. All I needed was a brake job. They checked out my brakes, let me know what was needed and what I didn't need. My car now has that good bite when braking again. After a bad experience at a different shop, I was given the number for Phillip at TXengineWerx. After speaking with Phillip on the phone, I knew that it was going to be a pleasant experience. He worked tirelessly to figure out what the issue was with my vehicle's a/c system. Though it is close to an hour drive for me to get to TXENGINEWERX, I will be taking my vehicle there for all its repairs. I can't thank Philip and his team enough for such outstanding service. I am not one to trust mechanics but Philip put my mind to ease when he took care of my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. He diagnosed the engine and actually saved me quite a bit of money by finding the core of the problem and not just putting a bandaid on it. He explained the cost and what would need to be done and he finished a day earlier than expected. But he followed up with the repairs to make sure that I was not only satisfied but my Jeep was in top condition. He explained in detail preventative maintenance so that my vehicle will run for a long time. Bravo Philip for a job well done. Feel like they got me for all they could because I appear young/inexperienced and didn't fix the main issue I took it in for. If I could have spoke to the mechanics prior to dropping the car off, I probably wouldn't have left it. Speaking to them about the issue still being present after the work they did to it I was disappointed in their explanation of the issue and just telling me to bring it back if I have more issues. I didn't say much, nodded my head and moved on. I already was thinking I should have gone somewhere else dispute reviews. Took my vehicle to another place and they told me it was the issue I originally thought. Thankfully, after another $3000+ later, the issue was resolved before my car left me sitting along the road in the Texas heat. And not even 100% if they did all the work that I paid for after changing my own oil a couple weeks later. Not saying everyone that goes here will be unhappy with their experience, just wanted to warn others of my own. However, my recommendation, go elsewhere. read more
