BLT taco

This is a welcome addition to the Point. This is where to go for Austin-style breakfast tacos, which are served all day. I've tried their food at other locations and they're consistently good at making a variety of tasty flour soft tacos. I particularly like the egg/choizo, egg/bacon/guac styles. Others include the BLT, various vegetarian, the Fred Armisen with guac, black bean, cabbage, and chorizo Batman with soyrizo. We tried the loaded queso side, but it was too cheesy rich and hard to scoop out with chips. You can order beer, soft drinks, and margheritas, too. The place is roomy and open.

HomeState Tacos is now at The Point! This Texas inspired Tex Mex restaurant is the latest spot to open up at The Point and they specialize in breakfast tacos, fresh flour tortillas and brisket. I recently had the chance to check this new spot out and tried their Pecos Breakfast Taco. This taco was amazing. It had lots of tender brisket and fluffy eggs. It was the perfect taco to kick off the day. Paired with their coffee, I was all set for the morning. I'm a big fan of the eateries at The Point and I am so excited that HomeState is now part of the restaurants there. I'm looking forward to checking out more of the tacos here.

I was thrilled when I heard HomeState made its way to El Segundo! I had tried some breakfast tacos a while back at a location in LA and really enjoyed it. Yesterday I chose 2 tacos- a safe and a more adventurous option. The brisket taco (safe) & the chicken blt by leon bridges taco (adventurous?)! The brisket was tender and juicy. It was a little oily but the fresh green salsa paired well with it and added some freshness to my bites. The chicken blt was well, a chicken blt in a flour tortilla! I guess I thought it'd taste different since it was a taco but it tasted like a chicken wrap. Good but I think I probably won't order it again. Service was excellent at this location. Interior was clean and bright. The crispy potatoes were great to share. I had such a pleasant dining experience- I look forward to trying more off the menu!

I love Homestate and glad to see they're in a new location. The food here has the same taste as the other location I usually go too. Generous portion sizes for the fillings in the tacos. Very spacious inside and lots of seating. Staff was very friendly. If you're a Texan, you'll appreciate the wallpaper in the bathroom if you know you know!

Brisket taco and queso con carne w/chips

Been waiting for quite awhile for this location to open and it was definitely worth the wait! Everything tasted fresh and delicious, from the crispy tortilla chips to the homemade flour tortillas. We'll be adding HomeState to our list of favorites for lunch or dinner!

As a Texan, I was so excited to try HomeState because one of the things I miss most is a good brisket breakfast taco. The space is lively and inviting, and the service was great. We were even greeted with a "Howdy!" by the person delivering our food, which was a fun touch. We ordered the brisket breakfast taco and the chicken anytime taco, both on flour tortillas. The ingredients tasted fresh, the freshly made tortillas were delicious, and the brisket was definitely Texan approved. We also ordered chips and queso, and the queso was probably the most nostalgic part of the meal. It really reminded me of the queso back home. That said, there was something a little "off" about the tacos that I can't quite put my finger on. Despite the quality ingredients, both were unnecessarily greasy and felt much heavier than the breakfast tacos I remember in Texas. Maybe that's just personal preference, but hearty doesn't necessarily have to mean greasy. We were also given salsa verde and salsa roja. Both were fine, but neither really stood out or added much to the tacos. I really wanted HomeState to completely satisfy that Texas breakfast taco craving, and while there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially the tortillas, brisket, queso, atmosphere and service, I'm not sure it quite hit the mark for me. I genuinely wish them the best and love seeing a little piece of Texas in California!

This might sound a little cheesy, but I honestly don't think I've ever felt happier this year (apart from a recent trip to Hawaii, which maybe makes sense). Just that happiness that comes with feeling so warmly welcomed and put at ease,, comforted by the most delicious food that nourishes both body and soul, and the warm glow of the sunset outside, coupled with the cozy lights overhead. I don't know, it was such a sweet memory ... made possible by the sweetest team cooking up some seriously bomb food. The loco moco was hands down the best I've had, and I've gone searching across cities in both California and Hawaii for a good one. The poke was chef's kiss. So tender, juicy, and flavorful, without any of those weird gritty bites you sometimes get elsewhere. I think the lovely gentleman we met may have been the owner, who shared that he was born and raised on Oahu and was lovingly bringing a taste of home here to SoCal. And boy, are we lucky to have it. Such a treasure for the South Bay. So grateful we got to experience it!

Its a pretty friendly spot - Guy who runs this place is great fun and I just love the vibe here. I got their Ali'l Bowl - Its a mix of 2 Pokes, 1 base , 2 sides and a Kalua Pork + drink and it was very good ! I also tried their Spam and it was excellent ! I will definitely be back to try out their items or anytime I am in the area.

So like yesterday, I decided to stop by and grab a burrito, but unfortunately, this will be the last time. I usually visit this location with my dad. He's been coming to this location since before I was born and I'm damn near 40. But this time I came alone and the place was packed. They don't have a big seating area. It's like a bar with about four seats to the right and four seat seats to the left so it doesn't accommodate many people, so people order to go. And that was my plan. I walk in and the server (with his chef at and money taped to it) and I grab the same menu. He allows me to have it, and he grabs another and gives it to one of the customers. I say all this to say that he definitely knows exactly when I arrived. However, A white man walks up less than a minute later and for some reason he decides to ask him if he ready to order, as if I'm invisible. This was the second time that this happened to me today and God knows how many times has happened to me in life. So at some point, I just have to stop ignoring the fact that Black people aren't welcome in certain spaces. Maybe we are by law, but not at all met with respect! That is all!
