Front end manager is extremely nasty for no reason. I was returning two picture frames that I bought a few months ago and never used I had a valid receipt for the return and expected to just receive a store credit but she made the interaction very hostile and more difficult than it needed to be she definitely needs to be brushed up on customer service skills and retrained on how to speak to ppl read more

Lines always take forever, employees are rude and can't be bothered, stuff is scattered everywhere and unorganized. Pass!

As an almost retired interior designer who frequents these stores regularly, I've seen my fair share of goings on. The management in this store are depraved. I don't bother the workers unless I need help with something heavy but I've seen managers called to the cashier for questions and returns. And every. Single. Time. I've seen customers treated like less than dirt. Even the cashiers look embarrassed that they work there. Sad people. Eventually they'll lose business if nothing is done to address it. read more

This home sense is very unprofessional. I had a run in with a employee named Tom and he was very rude when he was supposed to be helping us move furniture into the car. He said something along the lines of this isn't sesame street. He's lucky i was having a good day so I talked to his manager instead of saying something directly. The manager said the he went home even tho he's on the floor still. Will not be shopping here again considering how management doesn't know how to address employees regarding respecting customers. Save yourself the trip of going to this location and go to a different one. read more

Let me start off by saying the typical "if I could give this store negative stars I would". First, you have to understand that this store is located in Stony Brook in between the hospital and the mall on a busy road and it's one of the "nicer" stores around this particular area. I have been on the search for Kate Spade lamps for about a month. I originally saw these lamps at HomeGoods down the street three weeks prior with a price of $79.99. Knowing that I needed three for my new apartment I knew I could not make spending that much money on three lamps makes sense. Overtime I went to TJ Maxx, different HomeGoods locations and HomeSense a few times constantly checking to see if the price was lowered considering they all had the lamps in stock. On this particular day two weekends ago, I walked into Home Goods in Port Jeff Station and found this lamp on clearance for $49. This lamp had absolutely no damage, had a shade, had the screw cap for the shade, and to my surprise they let me keep the lightbulb. I drove down to HomeSense hoping that that lamps were still there and that they would have marked down them as well considering it is the same affiliation. ---- I want you to keep in mind, I used to work for this company for many years and know how their markdown process works---- Upon walking into Homesense I see three of the Kate Spade lamps. Two are marked clearance for $49.00 and then one of them had a regular price tag of $49.99 without a shade or the shade screw cap. Now, keep in mind, the original price was $79.99 for a "fully stocked lamp". I was inspecting the three lamps very carefully trying to decipher which one had the least nicks, paint chips and dents. I took one of the clearance lamps that had a different color shade with the shade screw cap, of course people change the shades all the time, they should really attach the shade to the lamp with a security tag like other stores do so customers cannot take the shades that they want. And I took the regular price $49.99 with no shade and no shade cap. I waited on a line for about twenty-five with five people ahead of me with one woman working the register while all other employees were gathered talking about plans for the night, two other flirting by the pillows, etc. This poor woman was so overwhelmed, you couldn't tell and I was dreading being THAT customer asking for a price adjustment for the lamp. I walked up, she greeted me very kindly and I said "I'm so sorry to do this to you but "and I explained the whole story"...she called over her manager who looked at me, looked at the tags and said "no, they are different there is no price adjustment". So I stopped her and I said, the style and item numbers are exactly the same and the full price lamp is missing two pieces. She walked away and said "then don't buy that lamp." While she was walking out from behind the counter I heard her say to another employee "well that's just too bad" then laughed. The woman she said that to looked directly at me knowing I heard her. I told the cashier that the other lamp is marked down as well with the same missing pieces however it is also missing both pieces. Another employee stepped in and painstakingly took her time to find me a shade and a shape screw cap to try and make me happy. I was and still am very grateful for her help. However, the other lamp had lots of damage, there was black marker on the side, the paint was chipped, the ceramic had tiny chunks out of it, etc. I was not paying full price for a damaged lamp, I wanted the one that was not damaged, like anyone would. I also want to say that I offered to step off of the line that was building behind me so the one cashier could help other people while this other woman was looking for lamp shades and I was told not to move. Eventually once more cashier ended up coming up front. Another employee walked up and asked me what the problem was and insisted on arguing with me telling me that even though they are the exact same lmao, exact same style and item number this one is regal price because they got it in stock last, the other lamps are a month older. I'm sorry, but that means absolutely nothing to a customer when ITS THE EXACT SAME ITEM. If you had to go to Macys and you wanted to buy two of the same shirts that are hanging on the same exact rack they would not charge you a different price because one was from a newer shipment. I proceeded to tell the young lady that I used to work for the company and I know how markdowns work. The longer it sits the more it gets marked down. She said "okay, and what do you want done about it". I said I want the lamp that is not damaged for the clearance price. The price that it is marked in every other store, and again I was told "no". Mind you, at this time the woman at the register next to me was doing a price adjustment for something she bought that was now on clearance and they did it without any question. I will never, ever return to this store again. read more

Here's the Scoop: This store is simply fabulous. There's something here for every decorative taste and every room in your home. Prices are reasonable and this store ignites creativity. As you walk through the aisles you must use restraint because you will definitely want to just shove things in your cart. I purposely got the smallest cart to help me and it didn't work. Lol! In Every section I saw something I wanted. As I perused the store I was impressed with how the colors meshed from each dept. The color palette was soothing yet gave off a creative vibe. I purchased 3 pillows and several other items. Sales and floor workers were very helpful and courteous as they worked feverishly in the aisles. I will definitely return and I will place this store on my monthly visit shopping list. My fellow Yelpers definitely give this store a walk through, you never know what will spark your interest. read more

Unfriendly and unprofessional. My return was rejected, because I bought the item at homesense in Commack, NY. Nevertheless to say, the item was in the original condition, bought two days before and the receipt was included. read more

I walked in and the associates looked at me and didn't greet me at all. I wouldn't go back here based on the customer service alone.

It's the same company as home goods and marshals so much of the stuff is the same and the price is the same. They have a few more hanging light fixtures that HomeGoods doesn't have but definitely come and check it out because as with home goods it's a hit or miss. No clothes like marshals it's strictly a clone of home goods maybe a little bit more furniture here. read more
