Let's file this writeup in the category of "Things I never Thought I Would Review." I mean if anything, I'd probably think I'd be penning some negative words for a furniture store, especially after all the odd, awkward, and uncomfortable experiences my fiancée and I had prior. But no, my friends. Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is the opposite of all those unfortunate things you often run into. They shine through as a true winner when looking to furnish the interior of your home (don't let the low Yelp score fool you!) Why? Well let's start with the variety of items available. Ashley balances their styles between modern/contemporary and a more rustic/farmhouse vibe to give you a nice range of furniture to choose from. I'll add in that the prices of their stuff is totally reasonable and probably falls in the middle tier of affordability for furniture (maybe even a little cheaper). Throw in quality that (to this point after a few months of owning our items) seems great and you've got a recipe for success. Though when you really stop and think about your experiences with furniture stores, one of the largest parts to it all is your interactions with the employees. My fiancée and I have quickly skimmed a store and bolted after being hounded, heckled, and followed by staff (even at other Ashley's!). But at Lake Grove, the people working here are exceptional. It's not just one of them. They're all a class act. Let's start with Marcel. He spent a good two hours with us going through bedroom sets, mattresses, payment plans, and even some living room furniture inquiries. The whole time it almost felt like I was talking to a friend who just happened to work at Ashley. Marcel is kind, informative, and honest with his sales tactics which makes you want to return. We did just that a second time a month later. Marcel happened to see us, remembered our names, and even though he was helping other customers, he said if we needed anything to let him know. Wow. You'd say it almost doesn't get better than that, but when we returned to Ashley a third time to finally purchase some living room furniture, we were helped by Patrick (Marcel's partner) and Jeff. Both gave us the same thoughtful attention that we encountered with Marcel. They spent plenty of time with us checking out different sofas and chairs and discussing options. Never did we feel pressured to buy anything. Patrick even took a pillow around from the living room set we wanted to help in matching colors that worked for what we were looking for with an accent chair. It was just another fabulous experience. Overall, Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is so much more than the 2 1/2 stars on Yelp that it unfortunately has. It deserves the five star treatment because that's how you'll feel after interacting with this staff and finding some furniture that you'll really love (which we do!). Oh and one final tip: If/when they offer you water, coffee, or a chai latte, take the chai latte! It's delicious. read more

Went to Ashley today 11/25 specifically to purchase the enola sectional 4 PC. Jayson who was our sales agent, he was ok it was really the manager Mitch (? not sure if I got that right, it began with an M) who basically stepped in to do the deal. All seemed good until we were told the item was not in stock and wouldn't be available until January. We would have to pay in full but no delivery until January 9th....I wasn't willing to do that. I would be happy to give a deposit for the furniture and once it was available to be delivered, then pay in full, they weren't willing to do that. We were then offered another option, to change the configuration, get the same result but make it a 5 PC set instead of 4 pcs (basically change the 3 seat sofa part to a 2 & 1 seat arrangement) which would leave a seam as well. Ok, fine but what???? it didn't cost the same, it's more money??? No thanks. We basically wasted today and got nothing for it.... except free pretzels, granola bar and water..... so I guess we are ahead. Oh well, $1800 walled out the door and no willingness to make it work. So 2 stars 1 for the pretzels and 1 for the Granola bar. Seriously though. it wasn't your fault Jason. It's a shame when management steps in and can't make it work, you and I lose out and so does corporate who probably has no clue. read more

I'm so surprised this place has 2 stars on Yelp. Well, we walked in here and I knew what to expect because I used to work at an Ashley's 10 years ago. The staff has to literally be up your butt the entire time watching your every move, just catering to you completely. But that's why their service is spectacular. We were greeted by Stevie, who I have to say is the nicest/sweetest person. We told her we were only looking for mattresses, so she assisted us by getting Dawn. Dawn had been with a customer at the time but she kept us company, offered us Mimosas, Coffee or Hot Coco and we chatted until she came. It was perfectly fine. We were just laying on the variety of beds they had. The main reason for buying a bed was back problems, and only looking to spend maybe a little over a grand or two. Dawn came along and sat with us on different beds that would be best. Stevie was there as well along with us the whole time. They were extremely professional and personalities are so fit for a sales job. Dawn told us ALL about the beds, even stated that she went to a "mattress" school they send her to - which I can tell. We ended up spending TRIPLE of what we wanted. They did have a sale, no interest for 5 years. That was kind of an amazing deal. They had that on all their furniture. They did have next day delivery to only certain towns on LI. They stated that their warehouse was in Jersey, so if you wanted to pick it up, it would be located there. The temper-pedic bed and adjustable zero-gravity frame only came a week and two days. We were also greeted by other floor staff who offered us drinks, also the owner came up to me while I waited at checkout. He had asked what we bought and thanked us for our service. Obviously he's happy we're making him money, but nobody who owns a company does that. So I find it extremely professional, and definitely appreciated. read more

DO NOT SHOP AT ASHLEY FURNITURE. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE. Bought a bedroom set (headboard, footboard, box spring and mattress) for $3,000.00. It was delivered on a Saturday, After sleeping on the mattress for just one night, felt such a huge discomfort with that mattress, I am now suffering from back issues. I called to have it exchanged on the second day when it was delivered. I was told the Ashley mattress don't have any return or exchange policy ( just keep in mind the sales person never mentioned this to me ). I pleaded with the manager DANIEL L. who offered as a one time courtesy to have me choose another mattress but there would be a 10% restocking fee and I will need to pay for delivery again. I said ok and it was agreed upon. I went to the store to choose another mattress which I was told I have to wait they don't have the approval yet. Next day I received another phone call from a different Manager URIEL R. who stated that the information was incorrect and that they don't have any return/exchange policy for the Ashley mattress and because it was already offered to me they are still willing to exchange the mattress but the restocking fee will not be 10% anymore but 40% instead. I am a returning customer and was planning on purchasing a sofa set. This company has loss me as a customer. They have no customer satisfaction and no conscience. I will figure out another way to make this mattress work for me, either purchase pillowtop etc but I refused to give this company any more of my money/business. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE. they sell fake warranties and their warrenty company platinum warrenty refuses to cover anything. they fixed my armless sofa 3 times and because they screwed into the frame they compromised the structure now it's breaking. Ashley and platinum now after the third time say they won't replace the section because it's not covered through structure damage. which is strange since they worked on it 3 times already. i have all my original orders and all my other items are covered for structure damage just not this one. they are a scam and their furniture is shit. the do everything they can to scam people out of money. and I hope they go out of business, they don't deserve to be around. We were looking for a new couch. We first stopped at Ashley in Riverhead, worked with Catherine (who was lovely) and found a couch we liked but wanted to look at a couple of stores to be sure that was the couch! Once we checked the other stores, we decided the first couch would be the one we stopped at Ashley in Lake Grove as we wouldn't be able to return to Riverhead before closing. In Lake Grove we worked with Jeff who was fantastic; I explained our situation that we had worked with Catherine and wanted to be sure she got her credit for the sale. Jeff was very courteous and helped me finalize our sale exactly how I wanted it done. The staff we worked with at Lake Grove as a whole were super nice. Would recommend. For the first time shopping at Ashley's home store will definitely not be my last. Every store I went into I was ambushed by three to four people that it became extremely overwhelming to the point I walked out. Also, every other store told me it was going to take months for my dining room table to come in. I was also settling at the other stores. Then i checked Ashley's and not one person ambushed me. They said good afternoon and if you need help let us know. And that's exactly what they did. Once I found the table I wanted i found someone to help and they made the process so easy and out of everywhere I went they were the most affordable and my tables real wood. I couldn't find a solid wood table anywhere. The guys who delivered the table were so friendly, neat and professional. If I could give zero stars I would. Their communication is horrendous. We ordered our couch in October when our sales associate gave us our delivery date of THE LATEST mid November. Early November rolls around, we hear nothing. So we call and ask about the estimated arrival date..when they tell us it's been delayed for another month (end of December). We don't hear anything for a couple of more weeks so we call to check back and it's now January 7th. January 5th rolls around and they call to let us know they're rescheduling again. They reschedule for today, January 8th, and they call an hour before and suddenly their "truck broke down". I can't say enough bad things about Ashley furniture. Their customer service is horrible and never get back to you. Also their sales reps not only mislead you but lie to you just to make a sale. My bed and bed frame were a headache from the beginning, from being installed wrong to breaking because it was installed wrong, and they sent one box spring for a cali king bed. The mattress is messed up because of how the bedframe was installed and customer service basically told me too bad on top of having warranty. The problem from the start never got better. Any other corporation would put their customers first, but that was simply not the case here. I would not recommend Ashley Furniture to anyone. If you want a smooth and easy transaction, this isn't the store for you. Their customer service is terrible. They try to say you are the problem, not their product that you spend thousands on. Here's the Scoop: Stopped in Ashley's to check out their sale and see just what she has to offer. Living room, dining room, bedroom sets are gorgeous and affordable. Many choices and combinations that you can create. They also offer a protection plan for your furniture which protects your investment. William a sales associate there assisted as we looked at different pieces. He was very knowledgeable and had a down to earth demeanor. The store is laid out with beautiful earth tones and hues of greys, blues and beiges. Living room sets are springy and comfortable. Construction is tight and built to last. I am currently in the process of trying to add a piece to an order that I placed back in January 2019. At the time of purchase, I was in the process of finishing my new house, and had discussed with the sales rep (Luke, at the Lake Grove, LI location) that I would like to add additional pieces based on the size of the room upon completion. At this time, I was promised that if I wanted to add more pieces all I had to do was "call the store" and it would be handled on the phone, and that they would honor the discount. To back track, the entire experience with Ashley Furniture just leaves you feeling dirty. Like buying a car from a used car salesman. There is ZERO transparence, even different sales reps will promise you different prices to make the sale. They will say whatever it takes to make the sale, promising you the door. Fast forward to now, I have called Ashley well over 20 times and have been passed on to the next rep over and over. I have spoken to multiple people at the Lake Grove and New Jersey customer service call center (when I can't get through to Lake Grove). No one yet has been proactive in helping me solve this issue. Although they have agreed to the 35% off, they are insisting I need to pay $80 in delivery for a single piece (armless chair). I have even offered to drive to any Long Island location to pick up the piece. Today, after speaking with Marcell at the Lake Grove location, I was told that Luke was terminated because he "promised things to customers that he could not deliver on." I am confused as to where this leaves me as a customer? No one has offered a solution to right their wrong in that their sales rep was misleading, misguiding, and employing bad business practices. At this point it is clear that Luke was saying whatever he wanted in order to make the sale which goes against the ethics of a sound business. The store manager, Marvin, has yet to be able to speak to me on the phone. If the store knowingly had an employee terminated because of bad business practices, they should be the ones offering sound solutions as a remedy. The only solution I got today from Marcell was a snarky comment that he "does not have a time machine" so he doesn't know how to help. Save yourself the hassle. ITS ALOT BUT IT MAY HELP U IN THE FUTURE Really horrible experience with Ashley in general. Purchased a sectional which was delivered a week later. The delivery guys stained 4 spot on 2 different pieces of the sectional. 1st mistakeI didn't thoroughly inspect the furniture before signing the delivery paperwork. Advice : check it once, check it twice, even have another family check it.. they delivery guy will rush you but f them they have to wait till you sign off...So after finding the stains about 30 mins later I call the store to let them know, they said once it's delivered and I signed off there is nothing they can do and it becomes a warranty issue. I say ok no biggie that's why I bought the $299 5 year warranty. I contact customer service, explain to them the current situation and see what my options are.. At this point I was a little aggravated but was like ok let's see where it goes... 2nd mistake Not having the warranty throughly explained... In a nutshell this is how it works.. Ashley's cs orders the damaged part to your home ( which takes a 7-10 days if the parts are in stock). When the parts arrive you have to call them back and schedule an appointment for a tech to come and repair or replace all damaged parts ( which takes another 7-10 day if ur lucky ). Back to my story.. So I call for an appointment, they have nothing available till 2/9/2019.. mind you it's 1/12/19 and the parts will be delivered 1/15/2019.. Now I'm fuming .. A brand new sectional that I didn't even damaged is going to take a month to be repaired.. Moral or the story.. don't get f'd by Ashley's.. read more

We bought a couch, love seat, wingback chair, 2 rugs, and a tv console. The love seat came in damaged and was repair by Ashley ( near enough to original). BUT the worst thing was the sales person at Ashley committed what we consider fraud by misrepresenting their "Protect 5 year worry free experience" by saying we could get our furniture cleaned at any time. So 4 years later we wanted our furniture cleaned and were told we had to submit a separate request for each piece of furniture on-line with photographs and we have not heard from them in over a month. Never again. Don't go here unless you're made of money and enjoy being lied to. They use every dirty sales trick in the book, but you don't even realize because they're being so nice to you. 1) They inflate the prices on the sales floor and then they PRETEND TO GIVE YOU GREAT DISCOUNTS when in fact they're giving you the online price. A sales manager runs and "makes calls" to get you these "discounts" but it's bullshit. 2) If you qualify for a big enough line of credit they will try to talk you into purchasing a mattress. After two hours of the salespeople blowing smoke up our asses we somehow found ourselves agreeing to pay $8k over 5 years. The second I left the store I was like "What have I done?" and then I didn't sleep for 2 days. 3) If you leave the store with ANY merchandise, it CANNOT BE RETURNED, refunded, or exchanged so now we're saddled with all this expensive bedding for a bed we didn't end up buying because we canceled the entire sale. I've never heard of such a policy in any other store on the planet. The next time any salesperson comes near me in any store I am going to hiss at them. read more

Never mind that I made my purchase on July 2nd and was told the item would be in, in 3 weeks and then in 3 weeks I was told mid September. I work in retail and completely understand that a lot of factories are still at the mercy of COVID's affects so I really wasn't too upset. I was surprised to receive a phone call in the second week of August saying that my items could be delivered. Delivered on August 21st. Customer service that called to set that appointment couldn't have been nicer! Delivery guys on the 21st were great! Came in and out easily, cleaned up their mess and were very professional! Later that night, sitting on the couch, I noticed that two of the pillows weren't as stuffed as the other two. The couch came with two different style pillows and one of each style was a lot let stuffed. I didn't get a chance to call customer service until today (8/27) and let me tell you, based on that experience, I will most likely never use Ashley furniture again. Patty answered and after I said "Good Morning, Patty. I received a delivery on 8/21 and it came with two different style pillows. I am noticing that one of each style has less stuffing than the others. So it came with two pillows with a triangle pattern... one of them is stuffed nicely and firm. And the other is lacking stuffing and flopping. The same goes for the other style". As I am speaking towards the end, it almost sounded as if she was on a landline and placed the receiver down on the table and then it was silent. Not for long but silent none the less... I very politely said "hello? Did I lose you". To which she replied "No ma'am!!! I am still here!!! You were speaking so in that case I have to listen and cannot speak as you are speaking!!!!" I explained that I am on a cell phone and the phone made a noise and went silent so I was simply making sure the call did not drop. She went on to ask me the phone number and address the order was under. Placed me on hold, told me she would have to look up the model that I purchased, came back on and asked me "ok, ma'am, so which pillows are missing?? The ones with the chaise lounge or the ones with the cuddler?" Wait!!! So you snapped at me at the beginning of the conversation stating that you couldn't speak because you were LISTENING to me speak and then you ask me what pillows are missing when I never said a word about anything missing??? I explained AGAIN what the problem was. She placed me on hold again and then got back on to ask me which pillows I had a problem with. At that point, I made it clear to her that she was not listening at all and that this conversation started off with her on the wrong foot being EXTREMELY rude to me... I advised once again what the issue was!!! I told her nothing was missing (again) and that it was lack of stuffing and that I would even take stuff for the pillows rather than them replacing the pillows because nothing is wrong with the actual pillow. She said "well MA'AM, I don't know if your pillows unzip or not!!!!" Ummm shouldn't that be in a description on your end if you are dealing with getting issues fixed for customers. But that was fine, I told her again I was fine with just stuffing being sent. She then proceeded to tell me that although I thought she was being rude, she was just trying to make sure she ordered the correct items because once put in, it could not be changed. I told her that was probably more of a reason to listen when customers are telling your the problem initially. Patty told me the order would take 7-10 business days and I said "that's great, thank you". I could hear typing still and she said "yes, again that will take 7-10 business days and it will be delivered by UPS. And I just want to make sure you did not need a tech to install this for you and you will take care of that yourself". I said "yes, it's just the stuffing. That is no problem". Again, the line went silent so I wasn't sure if she was still keying in any info and I wasn't dare going to say "hello? Are you still there again" so I waited. With that... Patty says... "Ma'am!!!! I can't hang up on you! You need to disconnect that call". Are you kidding????? I was waiting for maybe "ok, you're all set. Have a nice day" or "thank you for choosing Ashley". ANYTHING. Even a "goodbye". Nothing. So I was supposed to know she was done???? The experience was not the best from again, the store telling me it would be 3 weeks (and then not getting back to me every time I reached out to check), but I let that go. Then calling customer service and was told end of august first and then mid September the next time I call, I let that go again. Being pleasantly surprised by the wonderful customer service rep that called to set the delivery (wish I got her name because she is the ONLY one that deserve praises) then to dealing with Patty today! Ordered bedroom furniture for our daughter. Got s delivery date 3 weeks out. No big deal. Was told delivery would be from 6am till 6 pm. Can't they give a smaller window for delivery ? Took the day off, stuck in the house. It's 6 pm, no delivery and I have been calling the store inLake Grove since 5pm to be sure it was coming. They had me on hold for 45 minutes. I hung up. Called the factory, they told me the Ashley stores in NY are independently owned, gave me the owners number in NJ Called NJ. Robocall machine puts me on hold. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service. After delivery crew left, tried opening drawers. 1 drawer only opens 25%. Called customer service.....9 calls ahead of me. 7 hours later, still 4 calls ahead of me. Don't do it . I don't even want to give them one star but it won't let me select zero . We went there to check out their discount sectionals . Let me tell you , there's a reason they're discounted !!! We barely even sit on the leather sectional we purchased Dec 2016 . There's already rips and locks that hold the sofa together constantly come unlocked so my sofa will be sliding around all over the place and not connected . Don't do it . I'm telling you , the price may look great but , buy cheap , buy twice !!! We are now looking for a new sofa only one year later . Customer service calls this " normal wear and tear " . The leather has been scratched OFF . So disappointing . What we're we doing having a wrestling match on the couch ? I'm also a tiny person so can't say it was my weight . If you MUST buy from this horrible store , do NOT buy their leather . I know it looks good on the show room floor but it's a lie . Buy tweed !! Oh we also purchased a Microfiber love seat that was suppose to be " easy to clean " . Well this thing holds on to smells and liquids ! We just bought our mattress from this Ashley Furniture Store. William Tortora and Marlon helped us with an issue we had at a previous Ashley store in Jersey. They were both so warm, welcoming, and kind. The positive philosophy they have in this store is something I wish that all stores who primarily work in customer service had. They also gave us a very good deal on the mattress we bought, and added our new order to a previous order to make delivery easy on us. My husband and I will definitely get furniture here again once we have a larger house and children down the road! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM ANY ASHLEY FURNITURE!!!!!!! I would give negative stars if it allowed me too. I bought multiple pieces from them. With in 3 months a draw track broke I bought I kept calling for a replacement and after a year still no replacement now they are saying I have to buy it because it's been over a year. 2. I bought a tv stand with built in fire place within 1 week doors fell off it took over 4 months before being replaced. 3. I bought a coffee table the table came with bent brackets after 2 months replacement came broken. Finally it's replaced and still broken. The same coffee table the material is peeling off the top, after 1 month received replacement and the replacement part was delivered destroyed and the repair man wouldn't repair it. I called to make sure him put the order in for new part because they say they and it doesn't get done. Guess what part was never ordered. I will update when I receive the new part. 4. If all of other pieces I ordered all came with scratches and dents everywhere the delivery guy used a black permanent marker to touch up gray furniture pieces. Can't wait to see what run around they give me for this. Bottom line if you still decide to buy from Ashley furniture inspect every piece from top to bottom and if there are any blemishes do not sign this company is one of the worst stores to ever buy from. Customer service is absolutely horrible. There is one rep that I ask for because she is the only one that seems to do thing right. I don't know how this place is still in business. There furniture is garbage, customer service is the worst, the wait time for repair men or replacement parts are the worst I ever seen and what company doesn't give a replacement for parts that were ordered multiple times and because of the reps not doing their jobs I'm now stuck with buying parts that should have been covered under warranty and a bunch of brand new broken pieces of furniture. BUYER BEWARE!!! Purchased sectional sofa and multiple furniture pieces to redo my den in September 2017. The staff at this location is very nice but unfortunately many of the pieces came originally damaged and even replacements were damaged as well. Drivers try to camouflage or hide the issues so that you'll then be forced to deal with main customer service. Three months later, I have yet to have what I paid for. Technicians have been sent to my home on multiple occasions but either were unable to fix the issues or in some cases made them worse. Technicians will openly tell you that Ashley's furniture is poor quality and customer service is not interested in correcting the issues but rather hope you get so tired and frustrated that you eventually give up, which I have totally seen! I was undecided between making my purchases for my den update through Ashley or Raymour and Flanigan. I recommend that if you can get comparable furniture at Raymour and Flanigan down the road, it's the better choice even if cost is a little higher, less aggravation and higher quality. UPDATE: The Corporate Phone Number for Escalations is 608-323-3377. This is the direct Corporate Office phone number with a receptionist, it is not a general Customer Service number where you are put into a que. Ask for Customer Escalation Department or ask to be connected to Tom Wanek's office (CEO). I spoke with a live person and it seems they have internally escalated... we will see! UPDATE: Customer Service "Escalation" Manager scheduled another technician to come to our home and inspect the damaged pieces on December 23rd before the holiday. We took the appointment to just have everything resolved as soon as possible. Technician was very polite when coming to home, assessed the defects, told us he was going to put into Ashley that the piece of the sectional was defective and needing replacement. Today, December 27th, received call from Ashley telling us that technician put in that we refused service to sofa and they cannot replace. This company is just blatantly criminal! I guess it's time to file small claims suit because they just have/send busted furniture and they will resort to lying before giving you what you supposedly paid for. read more
