I always feel that they are giving us honest information and appreciate all of the communication touch points from booking to when the technician is arriving and follow-up after the visit. We've been lucky enough to have Darren for most of our visits and he always puts my mind at ease. We also are signed up for their annual membership, where they come twice a year to tune up our air conditioner and furnace when the seasons change. I called the company to discuss an issue I had with the technician who came to perform a seasonal tune-up. During the appointment, the technician told me that cleaning the flame sensor would cost extra, even though I believed it was part of the tune-up service. When I questioned it, he then said he would go ahead and clean it at no charge, and the process took only a few minutes. When I called afterward to clarify why this happened, I spoke with the owners. Unfortunately, the conversation was difficult -- I felt talked over, and the responses came across as defensive. I did not feel that my concerns about the service or the upsell attempt were listened to or addressed. I don't think I've ever had such fond feelings for a company! I've been working with Homesense this week and it has been a roller coaster for me and they have been so helpful through the whole thing. To make a long story short I thought my ac broke 2 days before the hottest day of the year and I was going to have to replace my whole unit. Jason was able to come out the next day and give me a quote and schedule time for the replacement. After Jason left it was brought to my attention that my AC unit had been tampered with and with an easy fix we were back in business. When I mentioned to Jason he was so understanding. We agreed to have one of their techs come out to take a look. Chuck was so great and did a thorough job assessing and gave it AC a clean bill of health. So many times in these situations I feel ill equipped to speak intelligently on the subject and leave it up to the pros to help. Right as the temperatures got down in the teens, our furnace started acting up. Of course, it was 9:00 on a Friday night so I was expecting to pay a pretty penny to have someone come out. Homesense had come highly recommended so I decided to give them a call. To my pleasant surprise, they were able to have someone out that night for a very reasonable price. They did a great job keeping us updated on the process and letting us know when our technicians was on the way. Before he arrived, we received a detailed text with some information on the tech, his experience in the industry and his picture. I thought it was a great touch and it's a great safety feature so that people know who should be at their door. Darren was professional, efficient and told us exactly what needed to be done to fix the issue. I didn't feel like he recommended unnecessary maintenance and we felt he had our beat interest at heart. The first time I used Homesense was out of nessesity - the other company I called had an 8 day wait to get appointment to fix my A/C. It was going to be 90+ those days! I called Homesense and they could get me in... *that* day! Woohoo! On top of that the service was great. They send you a text with a photo, small bio, and qualifications of your assigned tech. You also get a text and phone call when the tech is on their way. Very professional and friendly. There's no up-selling but instead will inform you of your options and potential issues down the road. Again, no pressure. So when my furnace acted up this week I called Homesense first. My info was stored with my phone number so it was super easy. They actually had a cancellation in the area so a tech was at my door 10 minutes after I called! The same great service was provided at reasonable prices. I dealt directly with the President of this company, Brady Wilson. They have competitive pricing and I felt like Brady was honest with me about what we needed for our home. Installation went well however, after that, my experience unfortunately took a bit of a turn. I wanted to upgrade our thermostats to something that would have internet accessibility utilizing our existing Honeywell RedLINK zoning system. Trying to get this accomplished was an absolute nightmare. The wrong thermostats were brought out at installation so I spoke with Honeywell myself and directly provided Homesense with the equipment that would be needed for my system. I had to go back and forth explaining why this was the correct setup and even sent direct hyperlinks to the equipment they needed, which was very self-explanatory considering I am just an average homeowner and in no way and HVAC expert. Finally, I was told Homesense was sending out their best zoning expert to finalize my installation. He showed up missing a thermostat, installed extra equipment that was not needed, programmed my zones incorrectly, and left hours later needing to come back to complete the job yet again. Ultimately, I ended up troubleshooting the problem myself thanks to some internet research, removed the extra equipment, and figured out how to program the system which now works as I originally intended. I explained my frustration to Brady after multiple failed attempts to fix this issue, who now has just stopped responding to my emails. Overall, I think if you need basic installation of HVAC services, Homesense may perform just fine, I suppose time will tell. Any troubleshooting needs I would be highly skeptical of this company's ability to handle appropriately. read more

EDIT: they finally were able to get the AC system working after two more visits. Thanks to Darren and his amazingly hard work. I'm still disappointed that I didn't receive calls or texts back when I tried to contact them, but because of Darren and his kindness/understanding/compassion I felt like I was taken care of. He is a truly important part of this company and because of him I'm changing my rating from 2 stars to 4. I'm truly disappointed because I started out with a positive experience when I first called this company for a second opinion on a broken furnace. Such a positive experience that I ended up ordering a new furnace and AC from them a few weeks ago. However, since installation it has been nothing but problems. Our thermostat keeps breaking and we've had someone out 4 times now to try and fix it. Still not fixed! To make it worse twice I've called the emergency number because it was broken after hours. No one called me back either time. So here I am still with a broken thermostat and it's 75. You'd think when paying almost 12k for a new ac/furnace there'd not be all these problems and certainly better customer service. So disappointed. read more

Here's the honest truth. If there's one thing that completely sucks about having a significant disability, it's that you get so used to being sick that you tend to not realize it when you're actually REALLY sick. The same is true for my home. I'm just sort of programmed, I think, that things are going to go wrong. So, when things go REALLY wrong I tend to not notice. Such was the case two days ago when I noticed a burning smell in my home. I checked outlets, cords, etc. and couldn't quite find the culprit. Yesterday, I noticed as I was going to bed that the burning smell was back and my furnace was "on" but not running all the time. Sigh. When you have a disability, especially when you're alone, you tend to be an easy target for exploitation. While I'm pretty good at seeing through it all, it gets tiring and frustrating. I dread it when mechanical things go wrong because I have no mechanical knowledge and in most cases my disability will limit my ability to do heavily mechanical things due to a lack of fine motor skills. I put out a call to friends on social media sites this morning asking if anyone knew any heating folks. My furnace is only six-years-old, but my experience in buying it hadn't been very pleasant and I didn't really want to return to the same company. I got 3-4 tips, but decided to check out Yelp. I noticed the review from Britt S., former community manager turned regional guru, and the fact that Homesense had a five-star rating plus positive reviews on other sites. I had contacted one other company via e-mail, but decided to reach out to Homesense as they're close to my Glendale area home. I initially wrote through their impressive, friendly website that provided a wealth of info. I waited a little bit, but started to get nervous and decided to call them. I spoke with Mandy by phone - super friendly, was actively writing me when I called and had clearly checked my e-mail as she could reference things I said in it. After chatting for a few minutes, we made arrangements for someone to come over at a time that would allow me to stay at work for my work day. I appreciated her concern for and accommodation of my schedule. I was given a general time range to expect and told that someone would contact me 15-30 minutes prior to confirm they were on the way. Within the given time range, I received a call from Samantha, "Sam," who gave the "on our way" call and I received by e-mail the name of the technician - this is a terrific way to handle things and much safer. The technician, Kary, arrived at the scheduled time. Kary arrived in a Homesense van and was dressed professionally. He was super friendly - I thought it was a nice touch that the Homesense e-mail had given me a little bit of info about him. It wasn't two minutes of listening to the furnace that he had a good idea of what to look for...I appreciated that he looked at the least expensive answer first. Sadly, that wasn't the answer and he took time to explain to me why that wasn't the answer. I needed a new motor, no small investment for a six-year-old furnace, and initially he didn't believe he had the right one. However, he took the time to take everything out and, in fact, he had one on the truck. I was given a price in writing and that price was honored. Kary got everything done, explaining things along the way in a "101" style that I could understand. I appreciated that he also explained preventive things that could be done, things that I missed and things to watch for in a way that was not condescending or judgmental. I also was impressed that when I explained my issues with the company that had sold me the furnace, he took the high road and didn't jump on the bashing bandwagon. In short, while the repair was expensive it was done as requested, on time, correctly and the furnace now works beautifully. I was happy with all three employees encountered and was able to use credit to pay. If your only concern is the lowest price, Homesense is probably not that company. However, I feel like I got a fair, affordable price with great customer service and high quality, timely work. I also appreciated little touches on their website - for example, explaining some of their community involvement (which means a lot to me) and having quite a bit of info available on the site. It allowed me to make a quick, informed choice. Nobody likes it when the expensive hits happen, but it's always made better when you're treated with respect, treated fairly, and you feel like the company actually cares about you as a customer. I didn't feel exploited here and I didn't feel like I was being faced with upselling. As I sit here in my warm home and my much quieter furnace, I'm grateful for those who wrote reviews of Homesense and grateful for their quick, reasonable and accommodating response in my time of need. A couple months ago, I had an issue with my AC and Homesense was very quick to respond. They fixed the problem at a reasonable cost. During that visit I signed up for them to do the yearly check ups on the unit. Today they came and checked out the furnace. They sent a text and email detailing who my technician would be, and I received a phone call letting me know they were on the way. In the past when I have had other companies come out for the same routine service, they have tried to sell me other items or tell me about issues I wasn't experiencing. Our air conditioning unit broke last week. The first company I called charged me $99 to confirm it was broken, told me the product was out of warranty and would cost between $3000 and $5000 to fix. I called Homesense for a second opinion/ estimate. They immediately told me it should NOT be out of warranty and that I needed to find the original installer to make it right if they had not registered it. After a couple of days of getting the runaround and figuring I was going to have to pay one way or the other, I called Homesense again and asked if they could come look at it to see if they agreed with the prognosis. Dylan came out, looked at the unit, confirmed it should still be under warranty, and went so far as to fix the wiring to check to see if that was the problem since we were not getting any traction with our original contractor. Unfortunately it was still the condenser. Ultimately, Homesense went above and beyond with no guarantee that I'd ever give them my business (In fact, the original contractor did finally get in contact with me and will be taking care of the problem). I highly recommend Homesense - honest, on time, trustworthy, and willing to do the right thing even if they don't land the business that time. They went out of their way to help and saved me a tremendous amount of money. I certainly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services or an estimate. read more

My heat went out on a Tuesday night, I had an appointment by Wednesday. I got two options for the fix, and I chose to have a new furnace installed. They had it installed by the next day! The 1st tech Chuck was amazing!!! He played with my dogs, spoke about children while waiting to get the quote for the new furnace. Then Poohbear and Tim, (I hope I am remembering correctly) came the next day and had everything installed and working. Even after having to having to make another stop at the shop! I've had a tune-up and a $700 duct cleaning from Homesense, both of which went wrong. Normally with such a botched job I would give one-star, but they generally had good attitudes through it and tried to remain professional so 2 stars. I didn't want to leave a review for my appointment from 3 months ago, but they are still nagging me for reviews and surveys, so here goes: Tune-up: I had a regular tune-up appointment when during the tune-up they broke my HVAC in the middle of winter. They blamed it on a bad humidifier, but it was clear the tech shorted my board out. After I took pictures of what happened and called them again, a second tech came out to replace the logic board for free. The second tech didn't know how to program a Nest correctly and I noticed both my AC and heat were running at the same time after he left. I called them again to come fix it. They tried to blame my HVAC and said it might cost me for the repair. After some arguing, they came out and rewired my AC for a third time. Fixed finally... but it turned out nothing was ever wrong with my ac. Duct-cleaning: They cleaned all my ducts but rushed the job and coated every room in the house with dust from the vents. Not sure if it was intentional bait-switch but the pricing communicated over the phone was roughly $300 less than what they made me pay at the end. Other thoughts: They complain about Nest and other e-thermostats. It's 2019 and energy companies are practically giving them away. Might be a good time for HVAC techs to stop complaining and start learning something new. My appointment was 3 months ago, now please leave me alone! read more

When my A/C went out in mid-August this year, I was quick to give Homesense a call. I've known one of the owners for ages, but have lived on the West Coast for the last decade and never had a chance to use his services. My misfortune turned into a good deal, and I even found a discount on Yelp. I specifically avoided dropping names, because I wanted to be a "mystery shopper" and see how good this guy's team really is. Homesense was quick to return my call, and had someone out within 24 hours to take a look. The technician (Kary) was super-friendly, and the company was good with sending emails and texts to stay in good communication at all times. The job ended up being quick, and Kary pointed out that many companies would try to upsell me on a new A/C system since mine is 15 years old. He said I didn't need it, but encouraged me to service it regularly since he could tell from my system that I was a "full time" HVAC user. Yes, as a California native I survive in the Midwest by transitioning seamlessly from heating to A/C and back again as the seasons change ... with no break in between. The price was reasonable, they honored my coupon even though I didn't print it out, and had multiple options for payment. They even sent me an email survey as follow-up to make sure I was happy with the service. Needless to say, I was impressed from start to finish. Couldn't be happier with the process or the results, and will definitely use them again! read more

This is a good news/bad news review of Homesense Heating and Cooling, who installed a furnace and air conditioning unit exactly one year ago in May, 2022. For the record, the owners of Homesense asked me to write a review of my experience with their company, and so I am obliging. Less than a week after having the A/C installed, it was blowing lukewarm air, so Homesense sent out a technician. The technician noted that it was slightly low on coolant and added more, then proceeded to tell me that the reason my house was taking hours to cool down had to do with poor attic insulation, the age of the house and windows, and other factors unrelated to the A/C unit itself. I went through an entire summer with the A/C only partially functioning but assuming there was nothing that could be done. Then, when I turned the unit on last month for the first time of the season, again nothing but lukewarm air came out of the registers. I called Homesense again and this time, they sent out one of their most experienced technicians who diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes and fixed it. He reported that the unit had been installed improperly and a nut inside the unit had not been sufficiently tightened, resulting in a slow leak of coolant. The A/C now runs like one would expect a one-year-old A/C unit to run (that is, very efficiently despite the age of my house, poor insulation, etc.). While I was happy to finally have a fully functioning HVAC system, the misdiagnosis and lengthy process of remedying the malfunction left a bad taste in my mouth. Finally, the good news part of this review: Homesense honored their commitment and I was not charged for any of these services, so for that I will commend them. read more

Chuck made sure I understood how our unit works, what to watch out for and even changed the filter for me and took the dirty one with him. When explaining to me what a strange noise was I've been hearing he told me what to expect cost wise so it if breaks we can start saving for it now. The house started getting warm and a check of the thermostat and feel at the vents gave us a good idea that the air conditioner was on the fritz. When I went to the fridge to get an ice cream sandwich to cool down, it squished in my hands. That's right--our fridge and AC died in the same night! I called Homesense the next day and they were able to get out immediately. Unfortunately, our 22-year-old system was completely dead. The very friendly repairman took the time to show me everything wrong with the system and was more than willing to take whatever course of action I wanted--sink varying levels of money into putting a bandaid on the old system or get a new one. I went with getting a new one. Unfortunately, all the sales staff were out that day. But Brian, the owner, didn't want me to go without AC in the sweltering heat we've had lately. So he came over personally and helped me get my new AC order in. His installation team was out quickly and we had new AC running and cooling the house better than it's ever been cooled since we bought it. In 2016 we had Homesense install a new A/C unit though it seemed to work our house was always humid. We assumed it was just the poor insulation in our walls and learned to deal with it. They came out twice to inspect but never seemed to check the actual A/C unit, just the furnace. To be fair, they could have checked the A/C without us noticing but I dont think so. Let's fast forward to August 2019. I called Homesense because our A/C started making a loud noise and seemed to be running more than it should. I left a message and no one called me back. The following week I called again and left a second message explaining again about our A/C making a loud noise and that we were wondering about our extended warranty that we had purchased. Again, no one got back to us. Finally, we called another company who came out and checked our A/C and explained that it was way, way, way overcharged. This other company thinks it's probably been overcharged since day one, back in 2016. Also, our compressor was bad. We were able to still use our warranty and get our unit fixed (no thanks to Homesense who had still not returned my calls). Now my house has A/C that actually works and our house is no longer humid! I wish I would have went with the other company initially and then we wouldn't have spent the last 3+ years with a brand new A/C unit that wasn't installed properly. Might I add I was pregnant most of that time and hated being at home because of the humidity. So frustrating. So there, if they would have called me back I would have added more stars but no. I have little ones and it's summer, take care of your customers. Even if your schedule is booked have the curteousy to call someone back. read more

I made an appointment with these guys to get my AC and furnace cleaned and tuned up. The first guy only did the AC, despite being told he was going to do both. The second appointment was scheduled for today, a friend stayed at my home and waited for over 3 hours, after I received an email stating he would be there between 15-30 minutes. No one ever showed up! It took nearly 45 minutes to get a response. At which time, that person told me the guy was still at the previous job. They will not do the job after 5, they should be more flexible with this rule since they didn't complete or do their job for the second time! Now I have to take unpaid pto and receive a write up so my furnace can be done. Why am I dealing with this? It took them missing another appointment at that time. That was August. I have only had my heat running for 2 or 3 weeks, I'm never home and use electric blankets. The furnace has been squealingI have been contacting them and trying to follow up about this problem. I would expect them to check it out at a reduced rate to back up their work but no. It's taken over a week and they won't check it out. I checked out BBB and was not surprised to discover this to be their regular practice. I filed a consumer complaint with the Attorney General. They did send a guy out after this post. He spent maybe 10 minutes and told me it would be around $600. I got a second opinion and it cost $100 because a small piece needed replaced, not the entIre blower motor. We have used Homesense exclusively since moving into our 1958 Cape Cod. We purchase their service plan each year for service 2 times per year. It came in particularly handy on the coldest day of the year, 6 degrees (also 3 days after bringing our first child home). Brian, the owner, is very active in the community and cares deeply about customer service. We called at 7:30 in the morning and they were able to have a tech to our home between 10-1. Dustin arrived at 10 to inspect the issue and determined that our 20 year old furnace had indeed bit the dust. Dustin rearranged his day, made a ton of calls to find replacement parts, but ultimately determined that we should buy a new unit. We felt that the price was very fair, especially considering the last minute need. Dustin and John were at our home all afternoon installing the new unit, including work outside for a new exhaust. It's 8 pm and they just left. After learning that we had a brand new baby at home, Dustin indicated that there was no way he could leave us in a lurch. He absolutely went above and beyond today to ensure that our home was warm by bedtime. It's also important to mention that for our service call this year, when scheduling I mentioned that we needed it done before Baby arrived--not only did they accommodate, but Ashley from the office sent us a congratulatory card in the mail. read more

I relied on Yelp reviews to find a heating and cooling company when we moved to the Carmel area. Great reviews so I thought I would give them a shot. It is terrible ironic that their name is Trust Home Sense since unfortunately for me, I don't trust them anymore. Sept 2015: First maintenance for the winter by Darrin. Everything looked good and they said we were good to go. Nov 2015: We got a Nest Thermostat and needed a C wire put in. Called Home Sense since they were our go-to heating and cooling folks. Was told by the Ashlee that all their techs are up to speed on smart thermostats. Turns out not so. Thankfully for me, Nest Support had told me what to do in order to get to the setting that checks if the C wire was putting out power to the thermostat. During that same visit, I asked about why the heat from our heat pump was so poor, turns out we had a freon leak because the cap was not screwed on tight. $600 later, we got that fixed. How the hell did we get a freon leak a mere 2 months after our checkup and who unscrewed that cap? Who knows but we're nursing suspicions. Spring 2016: Next maintenance check also by Darrin. Again all good to go. One month later 2016: HVAC is leaking water. Turns out the drip drain was jammed. All good a month ago eh? Apparently not. Had to call Home Sense again. Would have made a fuss but they didn't charged me for this visit. Dec 2016: Last maintenance check - this time by Cary. All good. 3 hours later we find that our auxiliary heat keeps kicking in even if the temperature differential is 1 degree or less. It was working FINE before the maintenance check. I should have listened to my spouse and just ignored the last maintenance check. WTF?? Trust Home Sense? Sorry - I think not. Maybe its our dumb luck, maybe the HVAC gods hate us but damn, I need to find another heating and cooling company. All in all, look at these stellar Yelp reviews with a grain of salt. As someone who has family in the restaurant business who has been approached by Yelp to "sort" their reviews and ensure high reviews for a fee, these reviews need to be taken with a ton of salt. Also perhaps you're wondering if I'm of those people who just rate all businesses badly - honestly no, we're actually really easy going folks. Since moving to Carmel, we've had plumbers, electricians, contractors, and I've had the pleasure of rating every single one of them as amazing. So all 5 star reviews for HomeSense? We woke up about a week and a half ago to our hvac spitting out warm air instead of cold. I'd previously had out another company, with whom I was not impressed. I looked online to see how people had reviewed different companies, wanting to not waste my time with another bad home visit. Homesense, while unfamiliar to me in name, was #1 on Yelp, so I gave them a call. They were able to have a technician (Darren) out that evening, fitting around my schedule, to troubleshoot the issue. He was exceedingly polite and helpful, and we really appreciated how he explained what he was doing, what he was looking at, and what needed repaired. I liked the price he gave me, but then gave me his opinion that the amount would be better spent towards the cost of replacing the 20+ year old system. He helpfully scheduled another member of the team (Jeff) to come out first thing the next morning to give us a quote. Jeff was again, extremely nice and helpful, really taking time to explain things and answer our questions. He took his time to come up with an appropriate quote, which also included discounts for the cost of the technician's visit, as well as another "new neighborhood" discount. We liked the price, and agreed to the replacement. They were unable to schedule my installation until Friday (5 days after Jeff's visit), but graciously lent us a window unit for our bedroom at no charge to keep us cool until then. It helped ease the pain quite a bit. Friday came, and Chuck and his assistant came to install. I was likely told the other technician's name, but unfortunately I forget. However, they were both very polite and friendly, and very communicative throughout the day's process. They were timely and wrapped up as quickly as they could (efficiently!) so I could leave town on time to see family. Chuck was very insistent on making sure all of our questions were answered and we were comfortable before they left the home, which I greatly appreciated. Chuck and Andy came out to my house to clean the air ducts. They were thorough, cleaning out every vent. Chuck even noticed our whole-house humidifier had somehow been shut off, and was nice enough to turn it back on, because #winter. They came when they said they would, and did a great job. Of course...it's only the second coldest day of the year and the heat is OUT at my moms home. Fortunately my brother and I were able to assist her with the problem until we realized, OH NO!, it's still not working! I called Homesense Heating and Cooling for help since they put the system in 2.5 years ago. Called the office and got the after hours service, they took my info and said someone would be calling me soon to assist. Well, it wasn't more than 3 minutes and Mandy called! She did a great walking me through some help tips. Although we couldn't get the system working, she set up an appointment for first thing the next morning. (And yes, we did have Mom spend the night at my brothers home!) Kary was dispatched and arrived a few minutes early and immediately went to work on the issue! Great help, suggestions, and courteous service, he was able to install our new thermostat, get things operating, system programmed properly and heat pouring out of the vents!! What more could anyone ask for??? Well, with this company, their customer service and their techs, you can't ask for anything better! You need your heating and cooling done right?? I've received nothing but amazing service from Homesense! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to family and friends (in fact, I already have). My A/C was acting up a few weeks ago, and at first, I was at a loss as to who to call. Then I remembered that Brian (co-owner) is a Twitter friend of mine and served in a volunteer group with me! I reached out to him on Twitter, and he immediately put me in touch with his scheduling staff. They had a technician out to my house quickly. The tech thought it was just old batteries and some loose wires in the thermostat, so he fixed it and only charged me their flat rate for a service call. Two weeks later, the A/C acts up again. It was a holiday weekend, but I was desperate and it was getting hot out. I messaged Brian on Twitter once more...while at the Indy 500 no less...and he responds saying he would immediately contact his on-call guy and try to get someone out to my house on Memorial Day! Dustin showed up bright and early, on a holiday, and set to work problem solving. He discovered the wiring had gone bad between the thermostat and the rest of the HVAC system in the basement. Because the problem was not properly diagnosed the first time they visited, I wasn't charged for the second visit. Dustin put a temporary fix in place, including a "loaner" thermostat, to keep the house cool while some new equipment is ordered. Every step of the way, the staff has been honest, friendly, and extremely speedy in responding to my needs. I can't recommend a home services provider higher! read more

About 8:00am this morning, I heard a loud pop and then the furnace quit working. It's 16 degrees outside, so it's going to get cold in here. I immediately called Homesense. Anyway, long story short, Kary came out and by 11:20am the furnace was fixed. He even went to get a part, came back and fixed it. All in less than 3 1/2 hours!! We had not had our furnace checked in a year, and with the cold weather already upon us, I knew it was time to get the checkup done. We have had some bad experiences in the past, so we looked for someone with great reviews, and Yelp came through. Dustin arrived on time, even called ahead to let us know what time he would be there. Did I mention this was shortly after we made the initial call to Homesense this morning. He wore the little boot covers to keep our floor clean, and was very professional. He answered all of our questions, and had some great advice as well. He did not try and push any sales items on us, and even explained that at the age of our furnace, if we wanted to upgrade anything, it would be better to buy it as part of a new furnace. He took the time to make sure everything was good, and went the extra mile to clean areas that had be neglected for years. We purchased the annual checkup package since we were so pleased, and we look forward to having Dustin back in the Spring for the A/C check. read more

Because of my condensation drainage pipe not functioning properly, my home has damage on the ceilings of two rooms. I called Homesense Heating and Cooling, knowing exactly what the problem was and asked to make an appointment. The woman on the phone took my information, including address, phone number, email, and more, and stated that someone would call me within the next few hours. That was Wednesday morning at 9am. Today is the following Monday. I'm not sure if they'd do great work, but I do know I had to go with a different company because they didn't call me back. It's definitely disappointing after having called them because of their good reviews on here putting them at #1. Maybe they live up to that when they call back, but I'll never know. read more

This review was written about 4 months ago - I'm just now getting around to posting it. I need to start off by stating that the last 9 months (from a homeowner's perspective) has been extremely rough. Our house is at that age where everything is needing lots of tlc either in the form of replacement or major maintenance. Saturday evening, I heard a drip drip drip coming from our ceiling in the master bedroom on the first floor. It only seemed to happen when I ran our dryer (which is two rooms away). That sounds crazy, right? Something told me though that it was Hvac related and not plumbing related. I came here to Yelp to see if I could find a locally owned business with a proven record of integrity. That's when I saw the feedback on HomeSense. I looked the company up on the BBB, other review sites, and then I spent some time on their website. When I was convinced that they were the company for me, I completed their contact form and was contacted via email first thing this morning (my preference). I was added to the schedule for late in the afternoon and 20 minutes before arrival, the technician (Derrick) called me to let me know he was on his way. Derrick listened, asked questions, and did lots of investigation before we agreed that he needed to cut a hole in my ceiling. Sure enough - there was a huge pipe (Hvac not plumbing) that had come apart - some corrosion too. That experience (the first visit) was top notch. I didn't feel like I was being pressured to purchase anything more than what I needed/was interested in. Scheduling the initial work was easy and I was generally pleased with the amount of time it took to complete 90% of the job. There was one area that made me pull back from giving a five star review. The length of time it took for a sub-contractor to come out and repair the ceiling in our master bedroom was excessive. Additionally, there were some communication/coordination issues - the subcontractor did not realize that I had already paid and the amount he quoted me was about 1/3 less than what I had paid. That did not make me happy. I had to follow up twice with HH to get this subcontractor out to fix the ceiling - the young lady I interacted with was great to talk with and her replies to me were always very timely. We did have one follow up call because the humidifier piece/part in the garage was not placed properly and that resulted in water in my garage. They came out the same day and took care of the issue. I know that this review is a lot longer than most - I just wanted to present a full picture of my experience with the company. Will I call them again for service? Yes, no hesitation. Darren rescued us tonight!!! After a nightmare with One hour heating and cooling, Ashley offered us a slot that opened up to bump up our appointment. He came right away, was professional, fast and had our air running again in less than an hour! He also educated us a lot about our units and we happily paid a little extra for on going maintenance. I've used Homesense for multiple reasons; 1)installing a new energy savings Carrier AC system, 2)troubleshooting a cool-blowing, aging heating system, and 3)annual preventive maintenance to my HVAC systems. The Homesense service staff are always very professional, on time, and do not talk to down to me as a lady homeowner (major pet peeve). I made the dumbest mistake, forgetting to change my heat system filter, and the Homesense professional highlighted the problem without furthering my embarrassment. I like that they use newer diagnostic technology and have a modernized website. I recommend subscribing to their home maintenance emails, as they actually provide helpful energy savings tips without resorting to sales pressure over new products/services. The emails also sometimes provide discounts for preventive maintenance services and other deals. The Homesense owners also participate in community events and are a personable group. I've seen Brian Schutt talk to the Indy Girls Pint Out group over basic HVAC home maintenance tips, and again, there is never any sales pressure/coercion. We've all had horrible repair/service experiences, so it can be difficult to trust a new service provider; however, I trust Homesense, based on my personal experiences. read more

When we first moved into our older home 3 years ago, our furnace quit working. Homesense was 1 of 3 companies we called out. The other 2 HVAC companies wanted to replace my furnace because they said the mother board isn't carried by distributors anymore. Homesense fixed it for under $300 and within 2 hours. So, when our A/C went out this summer, I obviously called them for help. We had a new A/C unit in 2 days and well under what we thought we'd pay. We always had trouble with cooling our upstairs, but the new unit works perfectly for the entire house. They are honest, efficient and know how to give the best bang for your buck. One word SERVICE- something missing these days and delightful surprise . We have had many contractors and suppliers come work on our home and the one thing grossly lacking was customer service . To me that makes all the difference . They came out when they said they would and Chuck was transparent and honest about our options and extremely knowledgable about HVAC. We had another company that was due to come out for a quote , but due to Chuck Delong and his exceptional service I didn't even care about the other quote and went with a new AC unit from Home Sense same day at our request. I am confident that we will be well taken care of moving forward and that security is very important to us and gives Home Sense a leg up on not just other HVAC companies but most other companies in Indy in unrelated fields .As a former business owner i can testify that word of mouth is absolutely the best advertising ( and the worst if you don't come across with the value ).
