However, the process of obtaining a quote was indeed as easy as Zen Windows website makes it out to be; check out their website and watch the videos. I completed their form with the number of windows, approximate size and the requirement that the windows must meet a minimum efficiency. A reply was quick and thorough and above all easily understood and answers to questions were immediate. Dennis provided all the information needed should a permit have been required. Once accepted, Kevin came out within a few days to take specific measurements needed for ordering the windows. Within just over a month, we received a call asking if the installation could take place within 48 hours as they had an opening. Ed, Jimmy and Daryl were the installation crew who arrived promptly and you could not ask for a more conscientious and professional team. They seemed to get along and worked well with each other. Care was taken to protect floors and carpet, the installation and operation of the windows was explained, and clean up was meticulous. I had planned to shampoo my carpets after they were finished and Daryl did such a good job of cleaning up the floors I did not have to vacuum first! We had 6 windows replaced and opted for the Endure EN600 series double hung, Energy Star Certified windows. These windows were installed on a warm day in rooms that get the afternoon sun and it was immediately apparent that the sun gain was much lower than the previous windows. The wind is gusting today and there are no drafts! The total cost was a bit above some of the other estimates but after our previous experiences as well as the ease of the ordering process, the personable and professional installers- much less the quality of the windows- it has been well worth it.

Their seasoned installers were very professional, prompt, and respectful of our home. They worked hard to replace our entire two story home in one day before bad weather was supposed to hit the next day. We feel like we got a great product that will last for many decades which also has a great warranty. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting the best customer service and no pressure sales with a great buying experience.

My neighbor explained the scope of the job to him before I explained the job a little more in detail. Mike gave me a quote over the phone and told me that it was a verbal agreement. He also stated that he was booked solid but came out the next day anyway. His crew showed up bright and early ready to work. We walked around to look at the work to be performed and the only negative thing he said to me was that he didn't know that the garage was so high which has 10 foot walls. I had to go out of town for work around lunchtime so I told Mike that my wife will pay him while I'm away when he's finished. He stated that he'll finish installing the roof shingles but will have to come back on some other Saturday to finish the rest of the work on the fascia, soffit and ridge vents. I told him that would be fine. I arrived home a day later and text Mike asking him when he would be able to return to finish the job so we can be on the same page. He told me that before he comes out again, I will have to pay him almost double the price he originally quoted or he's not coming. That's not how you treat your customers especially a disabled veteran. He should have told me that the price needed to be adjusted before starting the job and not complete just some of the work. He also had ample amount of opportunity to say something when I talked to him on their lunch break so that's twice. Now I'm stuck with either paying someone else, paying him more for something we've already agreed to or doing the job myself. I can't afford to pay him or anyone else more than what I have in my budget so I'll just screw it up myself. This was a horrible experience and totally unacceptable! I would not recommend Crotchett Construction! A man is only as good as his word so thanks for not honoring your word Mike.

For something so time-sensitive, that kind of delay is unacceptable. On top of that, after all the waiting, we were then told that our windows do not qualify for the rebate that was discussed earlier in the process. This was extremely disappointing and feels misleading, as this information should have been clearly communicated upfront before we moved forward. The lack of timely service and clear communication made this a stressful experience. I would strongly recommend that others get everything in writing and confirmed before committing, as this process did not go as promised.

Disappointing Experience with Universal Windows Direct…read more I originally chose Universal Windows Direct based on a positive interaction with Darren, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and emphasized the company's lifetime warranty. We decided to move forward with a window installation on March 15, 2023, despite the higher cost, because of this promise. The installation itself was excellent, but after a few months, the clasps on the windows began to fail. A technician replaced them at no charge, which was in line with the lifetime warranty. Encouraged by our initial experience, we decided to contract with Universal Windows for siding on June 19, 2024. Brandon, who handled the sale, again reassured us that the same lifetime warranty would apply, with no fees involved. While there were some delays and scheduling hiccups, we were willing to overlook those as we wanted the job completed. Unfortunately, the siding installation on September 12, 2024, was a major letdown. The installers faced communication issues, cut our cable line (disrupting my work), and rushed through what should have been a two-day job, finishing it in under 8 hours. Within a day, the siding began to detach. Additionally, there were holes under the sunroom, trash left in both my yard and my neighbor's, and missing flashing. When I raised concerns, the installers' only response was "it's not in your contract"--which was incredibly frustrating. A technician came out and suggested a full reinstallation, but when work was done on January 2, 2025, only the loose pieces were nailed back up, leaving the job looking poorly done. By January 28, 2025, the siding had detached again. Another technician came out, but once again, only nailed it back up. The real shock came on March 19, 2025, when I was informed about a new $149 service fee. This was in stark contrast to the terms of our original agreements, which had no mention of service fees. I was told the siding would not incur a fee because I was still within the one-year warranty, but my windows would be charged since they were outside the warranty period. However, my window agreement never mentioned a service fee, and the siding agreement stated that such a fee would only apply if the damage was outside the warranty coverage. When I raised these issues, I was told that the company could change the terms of the warranty at any time. This felt incredibly unethical, as I was never informed of these potential changes at the time of signing. In conclusion, while Universal Windows Direct initially seemed like a solid choice, the ongoing issues, poor quality of work, and changes to the terms of the warranty have left me deeply dissatisfied. I would caution potential customers to carefully review all terms and conditions before moving forward with this company.
