These items should stay in their original sale areas. Then, to add to my unnecessary trip upstairs, signs are posted to check out with customer service. I must wait for the staff to finish ringing up purchases if I have a customer service issue. Customer service should be customer service and nothing more or less. We strongly desire to maintain the traditional department store experience with available customer service personnel whenever needed. If I wanted the off-price store experience, I would visit an off-price store. Give us back our customer service personnel and place all sale items in their respective areas.

Since I was on my way between two work function I had no time to head back home to pick up what I…read moreforgot. And to add insult to injury, I had the head of my deodorant pop out and fall on the floor. So needed to restock on at least one item. I am sure I had more items on this visit to get, but I was hyper focused on the need to not stink. First, I hated how hard it was to navigate in the parking lot. Why did it feel like I was a pinball going up the track to plink my way down to a parking spot? Next, the layout of this store was a bit hard to understand. I felt like this location didn't follow the norm for the layouts that stores usually follow. I was about halfway through the store before I felt like giving up and finding a register. Not to worry, I did find my deodorant, saving me another stop on my way to my destination. Made my way to the registers, and I feel like this location pushes you towards using the self checkouts. There were not many registers open that allowed a customer to be dealt with by an associates. In fact, I feel like there were more associates surrounding the self checkout area. With that, why only have four of these and push a majority of people here. Not everybody knows how to use them, and with that, not everybody SHOULD used them.

She wasn't wearing a uniform or any identifying items so I disregarded her and thought she was a regular customer. The…read morequality of the groceries, especially meats and cheeses, is outstanding and they carry the bread I like in two packs, meaning that even this single person can buy a reasonable amount and put one in the freezer and one on the counter. The eggs are terrific, you can get pasture-raised, cage free or just standard eggs. The fruit is hit or miss, and the selection of veg is limited but what there is, is excellent. I buy the mini peppers, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, all excellent. Alas, the onions and potatoes are in larger bags than I can use. So I have a friend who likes to split some orders with me. Milk is more difficult, cottage cheese is only in large tubs. Good for a family, not so good if you are a single person or even a duo. There are prepared foods, and party trays. And the sushi is good though it tends to have some kind of hot sauce on it (local preference.) The baked goods are so good, we gift our clients the pies at holiday time, and the cakes are also good. Previously, for our pie giveaway, we had gone up to Costco (a horror show in horror-show Christiana) and the pies weren't any better and were priced a bit more. Getting in and out of Dover Sam's is a piece of cake compared to dealing with Christiana. If you are trying to stretch a dollar or you are doing entertaining, this place is a gold mine. I haven't done much with the non-food items except bought slippers. The dog food is also the one my pooches like and costs less per can. The lines can be long; the self checkout will have an associate to help you and even the full-service line moves quickly. There is "scan and go" but I haven't tried this out (I think you scan items with your phone and it tots up your order as you get ready to depart.) I went two days before Christmas Eve (I know, crazy) and it was quite bearable, though you couldn't get near the rotisserie chickens--the line for the freshly made ones was down an entire aisle. The associates I have dealt with have all been extremely friendly. Summary: If you have a big family or do a great deal of entertaining, the membership will pay for itself many times over. You may find the quality is better than the local grocery store.
