Twice I have ordered for Pickup. Time slot selected. Travel to store based on agreed upon pickup time only to have to wait literally for hours. Today, for instance I waited from 3:00 PM to after 5:00 PM. I called the HELP line and was informed they were 4 hours behind. Finally cancelled the order and LEFT. I've found this Sam's Club a real help for entertaining and even purchasing regular groceries. The quality of the groceries, especially meats and cheeses, is outstanding and they carry the bread I like in two packs, meaning that even this single person can buy a reasonable amount and put one in the freezer and one on the counter. The eggs are terrific, you can get pasture-raised, cage free or just standard eggs. The fruit is hit or miss, and the selection of veg is limited but what there is, is excellent. I buy the mini peppers, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, all excellent. Alas, the onions and potatoes are in larger bags than I can use. So I have a friend who likes to split some orders with me. Milk is more difficult, cottage cheese is only in large tubs. Good for a family, not so good if you are a single person or even a duo. There are prepared foods, and party trays. And the sushi is good though it tends to have some kind of hot sauce on it (local preference.) The baked goods are so good, we gift our clients the pies at holiday time, and the cakes are also good. Previously, for our pie giveaway, we had gone up to Costco (a horror show in horror-show Christiana) and the pies weren't any better and were priced a bit more. Getting in and out of Dover Sam's is a piece of cake compared to dealing with Christiana. If you are trying to stretch a dollar or you are doing entertaining, this place is a gold mine. I haven't done much with the non-food items except bought slippers. The dog food is also the one my pooches like and costs less per can. The lines can be long; the self checkout will have an associate to help you and even the full-service line moves quickly. There is "scan and go" but I haven't tried this out (I think you scan items with your phone and it tots up your order as you get ready to depart.) I went two days before Christmas Eve (I know, crazy) and it was quite bearable, though you couldn't get near the rotisserie chickens--the line for the freshly made ones was down an entire aisle. The associates I have dealt with have all been extremely friendly. Summary: If you have a big family or do a great deal of entertaining, the membership will pay for itself many times over. I dearly wish this was a five star review. If I review only half of the current shopping experience it's an easy five stars. Add the other half and the stars fall from the sky. Sam's app gets all of the stars. All of them. The scan and go feature is worth the cost of club membership all on its own. Simply download the app, add a form of payment, and shop in your normal way. Then, instead of stepping into the sometimes insanely long lines, simply open the app, scan all of your barcodes, swipe your finger across your screen, and show the QR code at the door. It's amazing, and heads and tails ahead of any other similar store. Unfortunately, the product selection in the actual store is simply not as variable as one might want. Member's Mark as a brand is not as successful as Kirkland. Even the Hot Dogs are somehow not as tasty. I wish I could explain the issue, but here we are. This is the only Sam's Club in the state of Delaware. There's a Costco and a BJ's an hour north, and a BJ's an hour south. Sam's is a great place to pick up the basics in large quantities, but they definitely benefit from being the only game in town. read more

I'm a HUGE fan of Sams Club and even bigger fan of their scan and go app. (Which I've seldom had technical difficulties using) No lines. Leave stuff in your cart where you put it! Scan the barcodes on your phone, pay on your phone and go! Done- well almost. You still have to wait in the exit line. Today it irked me. I bought 6 items. SIX. THE DOOR GUARD SCANNED 3 items to 'verify' out of SIX ITEMS. SERIOUSLY!! I didn't buy steak, or high priced items. I had a clearance shirt, a bag of chips, a tub of M&Ms and 3 cases of Pepsi - I MAY AS WELL HAVE GONE THROUGH THE CHECKOUT! We are not from DE, we were in the area and popped in for a few things since it's closer than the one where we live. Great - all the stuff I wanted was in stock, I picked up a shirt (impulse buy). The bananas looked good. The lines weren't long (3pm on Tuesday.) I'd give it 5 stars if not for the girl I had to wait on, and now I know why. I'm glad I didn't have a cart full of stuff I'd still be there! I've typically been happy with all their Meats and members mark items. I wish to thank the Lord and his blessings on removing Chris an all time worst manager in Dover Delaware. I also wanted to acknowledge the Sam's club's management team for their efforts and commitment in removing the offensive individual from their team. I spoke to different team members or employees in Dover their thoughts on Chris being removed where that no one did smile and said they appreciated the new lady in charge was hands on and they appreciated she worked with them and they positively supported her in reviving their team to its success in their mission and they inspired by the new manager .... And finally it's time for me to fade away I discovered a nasty individual and I told the truth I thank everyone for sharing with me your experiences with the former manager and I apologize for any trouble I caused but hopefully we exposed a bad situation and it's been blessing in someway be grateful and so long Sam's club employees see you in the future read more

I love shopping at SAM'S CLUB for my bulk items and also my gas. Can't seem to beat their gas prices.

I love this Sam's. I'm here 7 or 8 times a week for my job and it's always clean and the shelves are always stocked or being restocked. The employees are always friendly to an extent. Overall this Sam's is better than most I've been to. read more

Better off shopping at Costco! Customer service is almost always a disappointment unfortunately. The staff need to be more welcoming with positive attitudes. ugh it gets frustrating, but you learn to ignore them sadly. No one is ever at the photo booth when you need them, Cafe staff always seem short staffed and items are always out of stock or not cooked. Churros taste horrible mine tasted like dish soap!!!??? I had some family members in Miami that I wanted to purchase some groceries for, after 3 days when it was time for delivery they cancel my order.. No call or email, in search of what was going on I found out they canceled, then I contacted their customer service who advised me to just sign up for a new membership and he apologized for the experience. I went to order again and this time I got the notifications that the order was cancel once again.. Sam's and western union have these Indians for customer care that really don't care about Americans.... That's really disappointing because they're aim is not to please. read more

My mother and I went Sam's Club the day after Christmas to buy an iPad. They were "on sale" for $398 which we were told was a good price. Today at the Apple Store, they had the exact same iPad for $329, regular price. Basically, Sam's Club upped their price and over charged. Will definitely not be shopping there again. Not worth paying for a membership and then paying more for products. Total rip off. read more

We are new in Delaware and are used to Sam's in NJ . We never had a bad experience with ROTTEN meat or poultry in NJ.- so it was a huge disappointment and inconvenience to discover the entire large pack of Purdue thin-sliced chicken breasts smelled so foul. I thought it was my imagination at first but the entire $15.00 purchase reaked so badly, I had to double bag it and keep it in the freezer until trash day so it wouldn't rot in our garage trash can. So I had to return to Sam's club, use my gas, & wait in the customer service line 20 minutes . They refunded my money without argument & said 'they had a lot of people returning chicken lately '( this was PURCHASED in September 2017). So I "thought it must've been an unusual , rare occurrence".... But two months later, on November 5, 2017, I am now FOREVER spooked from buying poultry from Sam's Club and PURDUE!! I bought another large family pack of Purdue split chicken breasts & checked the " sell by date" which was November 9, 2017. It certainly "appeared" good from the outside. However when I got home (excited to have all my family coming from out of town for a rare family dinner)and opened up the package , I was HORRIFIED, GROSSED OUT and amazed. What I saw on each breast UNDERNEATH was so disgusting I was so upset. Again Sam's sold ROTTEN MEAT 2 months later!! Not only did I have to come up with something quickly for dinner as an alternative , but now I have to go back to Sam's , wait in line, waste my time and money on gas ( again) to get my money back. I called Sam's immediately and told a manger who ' apologized' but I was wondering why isn't Sam's Club CONCERNED to get the product #'s and codes and packaging info etc for which I was trying to offer?? Isn't Sam's CONCERNED people could become DEATHLY SICK from eating this bad chicken? Wouldn't they want to investigate ?? Determine what is the problem and where is it stemming from?? WHO is packaging this stuff up and presenting it to be sold???? I will also mention the white absorbent sponge that the chicken was lying on was almost black and thoroughly soaked& discolored with the ROT spreading , it makes us pretty sure that Sam's meat department DELIBERATELY placed these pieces of chicken with the 'good side up' and had to know rot was on all the pieces underneath. I am disgusted and disappointed. It's not just about getting your money refunded. It is the fact Sam's Club doesn't have a system in place to check freshness to prevent food-born illness. I really wish you would change your set up at the gas pump and make it that anybody can go into any lane either direction. You have all these pumps that are always empty because most cars have their gas pumps on the driver side, not the other side. Many People who come to sans gas station are very very slow I get sick of waiting in a long line for inconsiderate people, while there's this open area that no one can use, it's ridiculous read more

I'm not sure how other Sam's Club stores compare to the Dover, DE store as I've not been to any other. I've been a member of this club for 25 years and, while I know Sams Club was never Costco, until recent years, a manager would actually try to be helpful and could do something other than toe the company line and complain their hands were tied.This is certainly not the case today. Sam's has gone to requiring appointments for all installations in their Tire Centers. These invariable run a week and a half out because they under staff. 5 bays and no more than 4 techs on at any time (verified with an employee that let it slip before saying I already said too much) and don't make allowances for walk ins at all. When I said I really needed to get the tires I bought installed earlier because I was selling it. All everyone I spoke to would say was , "That's all set by corporate, we have no control over that." How about if I bring the car in at 7:00 AM when you open? Can't promise that we'll get to it that day was the answer. I finally reached the General Manager. He was surly and complained about payroll restrictions under his breath, but did say he'd take care of the issue. He never called me back as promised to verify he had set up my walk in the Tire Center at 7:00 AM the next day. When I called back to verify, he had left for the night despite having come in at 2:00 PM as the closing manager. Get to the Tire Center the following morning and there's a note from the GM. They said I'd have to wait for the folks with 7:00 AM appointments to get done. I said I'd be fine with that and I walked down the street to get breakfast. Before I get my order in, I get a call. They had brought my car in and there were problems with two lugs on the front, driver's side. Walk back to Sams and they show me one stud is wobbling and say the other is really tight. Can't install the tire on that wheel. I was the last person to touch the lug nuts before them and explain to them that there was no way they were in that condition when I brought the car in. They swear up and down that they didn't damage anything and I'll have to take it somewhere else to get the lugs replaced. They offer to install three tires (unsafe) I tell them, install the two rear tires. On the way home, I stop at a tire store and schedule a time to get the lugs replaced because the spinner is probably going to make my removing the wheel impossible (estimate $150) and I buy two studs at the parts store in case I get lucky. Get home and look to see how bad things really are and if I might be able to get the wheel off and fix this on my own and all 5 lugs and nuts are fine. No problem at all. Take the wheel off and can hand tighten the bad nuts down to the hub. A little damage to threads on the one lug that was spinning at Sams. I now believe is that the Tire Center supervisor was so pissed that he had to come in early to take care of my tires and decided to show me a thing or two. The only answer to the wobble is he loosened the nut, then hit it with a hammer to break the lug free of the hub (the bolt will break before the stud will strip out the hub). The loose one gets reseated when they tighten the nuts down for me to drive home. Not sure if there was every a problem the second one. It hasn't always been like this at this Sams Club. I've been a member for 25 years and never had a problem with the Tire Center before these would have been the 5th or 6th set of tires I bought and had installed there. I believe the corporate focus on maximizing profits while minimizing payroll (under staffing, self checkout and scan and go...) and corporate micromanagement everything to do current state of customer service and lack of helpfulness and professional behavior on the part of managers and supervisors. The same thing is going on at Walmart. I had a nice conversation with the Assistant Manager at my local Walmart where he agreed with me on what I said made no sense as to how product was organized, but corporate send templates for how everything goes on the shelves. The customer may not be able to see what's on the shelf, but the "expert" in Arkansas can't see that. read more

I like Sam's club though I would love if they had an actual deli. Silly as it sounds I have asked frequently why they carry NO rye bread. Really how many kinds of wheat and white do you need to have? Also they carry either peach or lemon crystal light tea. Why can't you carry both? It's enough to make me quit going. read more

So now it's New Year's Eve you only have 2 registers open so I begrudgingly go to one of the stands to check myself out and now I have to do a transfer cart? Which means take everything out of my cart and put it into another one even though I already have the barcodes face up and ready to scan. Nice prices; love checking for new stuff online and off. The cafe staff need a big over haul - by far the slowest people Of all the cafe staff in wholesale clubs. Went to pick up a few things and the lines were backed up. A lady on the intercom said people with ten items or less could get rung out at the tire center. The guy at that counter told me that Visa credit cards were not accepted at Sam's (Visa debit/check cards were ok). How ridiculous! I'll be calling my bank to inquire and/or report about this. read more

I go to this location twice a week for my small business and it's never pleasant. It is poorly organized and difficult to find employees to help with any need (locating items, pulling heavy/large item off the shelves etc.). They also always seem to be running a barebones crew at the registers so your waiting 15-30 min to check out. read more

There are times the lines get backed up but you just have to be aware of the time/day of the week when this happens and don't go then. They do tell you which credit cards are accepted and which are not when you sign up. Cash and checks always work, as well as a master card and it doesn't have to be a Sam's Club credit card. The employees are very friendly and if you happen to encounter one that isn't, you don't see them again usually. It's well managed. I go here weekly and feel like the staff know me. They will talk to you and joke with you too. It's not a huge store like Cosco but it suffices for the area. Some things can be more expensive than the grocery store at times and so you have to be a savvy shopper and compare store ads with Sam's club ads. Their holiday deals in electronics usually can't be beat and they have a liquor store which is awesome. They also have lots of free samples around lunch time too! The gas prices are usually 3-5 cents less than the area gas stations too but you need to swipe your membership card first and this gas station takes all credit cards. It is very organized and easy to find items once you get to know the store layout. If you get a business membership, you can beat the lines and shop at 7a.m. instead of at 10a.m. when everyone else from the MD & DE area descend upon the place ;-) Happy Shopping! read more
