A bunch of us got into town about midnight on a Saturday morning. I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste. We needed water. They're open 24 hrs a day. They were 4 miles away. Then as I tell her I paid and kept going... she proved she could move quickly to "document" me on her clipboard. I asked what she was writing about me and she told me she wasn't saying. As we went towards customer service I was trying to explain and she started being rude so I gave her advice on what she could do with her clipboard and left. I will usually stop at a Walmart when traveling, just because. We were staying at a hotel and wanted a few snacks for the room. The store was clean. There was ample parking. The only employees I saw on the floor were restocking shelves and too focused to help or answer questions. The cashiers were super nice and super slow. The greeters said, "Hi" and "Bye" to us. The store worker thought I didn't scanned an item which it clearly showed the last item that came up on the screen I tried to explained it to him but he still input the item again. I ended up pulling everything out of my already bagged items and counted what I had and what it shows on the screen since he said that's what I'll have to do. I did that recounted everything and then he didn't even double check it! It took me to do all that for him to remove the double charged item. I told him I was not trying to be dishonest or difficult. Never in my life have I been to any store forgot one bag and then tried to call the store (numerous times) only to not get an answer (in the main store). Finally I called back again and pushed for the Deli where I did at least get an answer. The gentleman that answered the phone could not help me because there is no way for him to transfer my call to the main store ( so I was told). I got in my car, drove again 7 miles to that store. I get inside and I was pissed because the Assistant Manager was standing in front of the registers (talking to Associates); and when I approached the Associates moved on; so I informed her that I had been constantly calling but nobody answers the phone here. The Assistant Manager replied "oh honey I don't answer no phones". Long story short they sent me to Customer Service. I had to go get what I said I was missing. But what kind of Assistant Managers are no required to answer the phone. I'm sick of patronizing these people and I refuse and I mean I absolutely REFUSE to do self check out while people that are paid to do it stand and play security. I was going to check first and see how many negative reviews there would be but I see there's more than enough. Almost pointless to post this but, why not right. It's official. The door greeters have always been racist in their tactics. After paying for the few items I bought I proceeded to leave the store and the older white woman before me had a car full of items. There were several items that w weren't bagged namely 3 large containers of detergent. The door greeter clearly saw them but let her leave without checking her receipt. I was behind her with a few yogurts in a store provided bag and a 6-pack of soda which was sitting in the top of the shopping cart. Clearly visible. So she stops me to check my receipt. I asked her why didn't she check the woman before me. She admitted she saw the items in her cart but let her go. She gave no explanation of why she chose to stop me when I had less items and I was holding my receipt in my hand. This is racism at its finest. read more

This is easily the store most inept. The dairy department is always low or empty on milk products. This store never has enough registers in use to allow for a reasonably speedy exit. This store never has hand baskets. I will not use a shopping cart when a hand basket will suffice. If I have the extra time I'll make the drive to Middletown or Camden but when time is not available I'm forced to go to the Dover Walmart. It's a shame that a Walmart can be so poorly managed. There are some good employees there but there are those who have a bad attitude. I gave it two (2) stars only because there are those good employees. read more

Cheswald walmart grocery pick up is a joke. You get a time frame of 6-7 for puck up but it takes an hour yo get it. They deliver groceries to people who show up after others . Example tonight i get there at 555 and there was 6 card. 2 pulled out and due to rain they wouldn't come out. When enough complained oh yea couldn't they wont answer the phone. When you question it they get mouthy. When you confront them about why. You get one snotty kid het very nasty. Will management do anything no. They defended them. They are minors. Said i call them names but refused to tell you. Walmart needs to get people over 25-30 back there ir a supervisor be there at all times. This is not the first run In with nasty little minors. I hesitate to complain or leave bad reviews, but today's experience was pretty extraordinarily bad--even for a Walmart. I had two small pickup orders today, totaling three items. All three items were shopping, no substitutions were needed. I arrive at the time I'd reserved and check in on the app, which informs me I've successfully checked in and it should be a couple minutes. I wait 20 minutes, and try calling because nothing has happened. My calls were either hung up on or sent to voicemail. So I wait another 20 minutes; at this point everyone who has come after me has received their orders and left. At this 40 minute mark an associate comes and asks who the order is for, I give my name. I did calmly inform them of how long I'd waited. I waited even more time, at this point, I gave up on keeping track. Finally they come out, but sadly with only one of my orders. Before I could even ask about my second, they were gone. I didn't know how much longer I'd have to wait, so I too, left and cancelled that order. read more

This store has gone to pits. No matter what time or when you come in here you either cant find something or they dont have it. More times than ever they dont have it( ex: peanut butter no jelly). Dont go to the deli during afternoon or evening, especially on the weekend. Either the person dont wanna work there or just dont care. This is not a well ran Walmart. There has not ever been a time that you are not standing in a line at this location. I've been to quite a few Walmart's (as most people have) & this is the absolute worst. It's all about management style. In this case, management does not seem to allocate the resources properly in the store. You can go into the store at 8:00 am and the manager has pulled everyone to the middle of the store to have a meeting. They leave one person on the register to service the whole store. This is awful. This location also dims the lights.....here is a hint....if s store dims the lights, what are they hiding? It's usually dirt and poor care of the facility in general. There is a better Walmart and other stores in this area that I will go to moving forward. read more

This review is based mainly on the horrible customer service. The new Walmart is just a few minutes north of the old one. It's huge and has great deals. When we went to pay for our items, the cashier lady had a huge attitude, rolled her eyes, and told us to take our things from the basket. Are you f*cking kidding me? You're the cashier and you're supposed to just take the items, it's no big deal and it's in front of you. She seemed overworked and tired, and probably wanted to take her bad day out on us. They rarely answer the phone and when they do they hang up on you if they can't answer your question. I always have problems with my grocery orders being delivered. I pay for Walmart plus but rarely receive the order I place and have even had to pick them up from the store myself with no compensation. I called about a delivery order that I placed but didn't receive. As soon as I asked the person who answered the phone if my order would be delivered or if I needed to cancel it, they started speaking to another associate without responding or asking me to hold. As I'm waiting for his response the other associate he is talking to responds with "I don't know" and then my call was disconnected. Their staff is incompetent and even disrespectful whenever I call with an issue that needs to be resolved. This establishment is also very dirty every time I go in store and the shelves are always a disorganized mess. Most days it looks post apocalyptic in there. I am always polite and friendly to the associates behind the deli and bakery counters, but get nothing but rudeness in return. They act like you're being rude just for asking them to do their job and slice cheese, retrieve a cake order, etc. I avoid this place at all costs. read more

If I could give this a zero star I would. I just went to Walmart a few minutes ago and both doorways were blocked by buggies. I tried to get one of the workers attention to ask what was going on (they were outside smoking) and they just straight up ignored me and pretended I wasn't there. I called the store and it just kept ringing, ringing, ringing. It wasn't until another customer in the parking lot informed they now close at 11pm!!! What the hell???? We literally went there Friday night at 1am and went Saturday afternoon as well and there was not one word from any worker that they are no longer 24/7. They are only open 6am-11pm. The fact that another customer told me this is just sad. The fact there was no announcement on any of the doors or relayed by anyone who works there is ridiculous. read more

Every time we go in to Walmart dover de. store. It is never well stocked. We live just down the street and go there often. We went there to buy groceries, ON A Friday the 22nd of June, the shelves were so empty, it looked as those they were getting ready to close up the store. Its never well stocked, but this day it was totally out of everything. It was bad. We go to the Camden every so often and there is no comparison. I am not a Walmart fan as far as customer service is concerned. A good example is I had a Walmart gift card. I wasn't able to get it to work. I went to customer service and they couldn't get it to work, either. Instead of calling the phone number on the reverse side as a service, they told me I had to do it and then bring the card back. As someone who has to pay a sitter to stay with her invalid husband, this was a grave inconvenience. On Tuesday, January 23, I checked out through terminal SC011204. It was just shy of 2:00 pm. I had the nicest, kindest most patient young woman check me out. I never hesitate to complain when I believe it's warranted. I therefore wanted to compliment this wonderful person. Improved layout and location. However, the encounter with one cashier has tainted the experience. Okay, so during our checkout process my family member asked for it to be charged to the debit but, the pin was entered in wrong. I immediately noticed the cashier's attitude became unpleasant (strike one, you need to calm down). The pin was reentered, however it was asking for signature. We became confused since, debit requires you to enter pin then there is approval and resulting in your receipt while signature means credit. The cashier was a flat out idiot standing there saying "it says requires signature", my family member repeats to her "i would like it debit as i said before, you do know that only credit requires signature, so why is it coming out as credit?", the dummy says "i know that" and keep says she has never seen the receipt come out like that it just says sign it; her co worker is actually explaining it to her and she does not listen she refuses to fix the issue only pressing to sign the receipt she begins flinging her arms over and comes back to the register saying "i don't know whats the big deal". I immediately became irate, because who the hell is this old dumb ass cashier to say what's the big deal, it's our money and we want it transacted a certain way,your dumb ass may not seem to understand that it was entered into a credit and you need to fix it,she refused to fix it ( we had the same issue at the TJMaxx and it wasn't anyone's fault but the machine, the cashier corrected it without a problem). The cashier went as far as to slam her hand on the counter and say " you know what" and was going to put the receipt away without a signature, her co worker says "no it has to be signed, you cannot do that!". My family member asked for a pen, she stands there saying "i don't have a pen"! My family member repeats to her " i need a pen!!" Her coworker tells her to ask so and so for a pen, we get the pen sign it and then we just toss it back to her (rightfully so!)This situation maybe occurred because my family and I are ppl of color,her vibe at the register from the first time seemed as if she did not wish to be bothered. My family started to tell her off about herself (rightfully so!) some nosey ass customer who is of the same color as the cashier asks her if she was okay, my family member stated he needed to mind his business! (again rightfully so), while his departure he says to the cashier "oh don't worry about it" ( you don't know what's going on again because we are ppl of color you feel you need to jump in save an ignoramus of the same shade as you) the moral of the story is the woman has a problem when it comes to serving ppl of color and couldn't comprehend a simple procedure if it put on a f***** power point ! her ignorance is blinding her!! My family and I complained to her supervisor (also a person of color who had an incident with her just a few days ago WTF) we felt fulfilled after that and I feel even more fulfilled that someone else has reviewed this Walmart's customer service as poor!! much misfortune to you cashier woman and nosey ass customer! Agree with other reviewers that this store does not keep the dairy cases well-stocked. Produce selection is rather limited. I was super excited about online ordering and pick up, but over the last few months the speed of the service has declined. Initially, they were out with your items within a few minutes. Today I waited for 15 minutes. Plan for at least a few items not in stock. read more

This Walmart may be bigger but the service is still lacking and the customer service is null and unavailable . I like a particular great value brand of soda drink and they never seem to have any, so I asked customer service what can they do for me, NOTHINGI asked if they could special order _ NO, I asked if they could increase there stock _NO, I would have to come in when the shipment arrives and after the drink is placed on the shelves. I did that and still not soda. On one day I was there and saw the drink on a pallet sitting on the store floor and I ask a worker if I could have them, He said the pallet would have to be unloaded and the person to do that job was not there until the night, NO HELP FOR THE CUSTOMER AGAIN. I have often notice lots of items not being available for the customer weeks on end. I end up driving a 20 mile round trip sometimes just to get the "great Value" soda I like. Since when are they well stocked? They are always running out of bottled water even when no storm is coming. And they will rip you off if you are not careful. On many of their items for example a 8oz container will cost $1.00 but if you buy a 16oz container of the same item it can be $2.50 so buyer beware. Everyone expects the bigger you buy the cheaper or better deal you get but that is not the case with Walmart. And so many times you go into to Walmart and the lines are 30 people long with only 3 cashiers so why do they have 25 to 30 registers if they never use them all? And they have the worst shopping carts I ever seen, don't let them tell you it is the customers who abuse them because Target's carts always seem to be in tip top shape, I think they buy the cheapest carts but in the long run they are paying more money, I guess they can't figure that out. read more

Not my favorite Walmart location but have had to visit out of necessity and because I was in the area. Every time I have been to this Walmart has been late at night (after work). This is probably the most unsafe time to shop and when you will see some unsavory characters for sure. The store is huge and offers groceries and home decor. The shelves are usually well stocked and I've always been able to eventually find what I'm looking for which is a good thing considering that the customer service at this location is non-existent. My cashier was very nice and friendly but the rest of the staff makes you feel like you are bothering them, even when you ask a simple question. On one of my most recent visit, I waited in the electronics department standing at the checkout counter for nearly 20 minutes before someone finally acknowledged me. The young man working the department had seen me waiting, but took his time letting me know "he'd be with me in a moment"......20 minutes later and I still wasn't waited on. Normally I would not have waited that long before snapping but I kept myself busy browsing through a nearby bin of DVD's. I think I'm done with this Walmart for good. Do they care?
