When I decided to remodel my home, I didn't know where to start, so I began asking friends and…read moreneighbors for referrals. In my experience, referrals are incredibly valuable. As it turned out, CAP Angeles had completed a major remodel for a friend's neighbor. I was invited to meet Cornelio at that project, and the homeowner graciously allowed me to tour the house, ask questions, and see the quality of the work firsthand. Interestingly, that homeowner had also found CAP Angeles through a referral.
The short version of this review is simple: I highly recommend CAP Angeles. I would be completely comfortable hiring them for a small project, a major whole-home renovation, or even a new construction build. Cornelio and his entire team are honest, hardworking, professional, friendly, and fair. Their pricing was more than reasonable, and throughout the project I consistently felt that I received more value than I paid for.
For some additional background, my project originally started as a down-to-the-studs kitchen remodel and the renovation of two upstairs bathrooms. As is often the case with major remodeling projects, the scope evolved as we uncovered issues and opportunities that made sense to address while the walls were open. What began as a kitchen and bathroom remodel eventually grew into a much larger whole-home project. We added insulation throughout the house, replaced the HVAC system with dedicated upstairs and downstairs units, did a less extensive remodeled to a third bathroom, repainted the entire interior, re-coated and recolored the exterior stucco, replaced flooring throughout the entire home, and replaced all interior doors, casing, baseboard and crown molding.
Despite the significantly expanded scope, Cornelio and his team consistently stayed ahead of schedule whenever factors were within their control. Any delays we experienced were typically caused by third-party vendors, or supply chain issues rather than the construction team itself.
I also appreciated how fair Cornelio was when it came to change orders. When a change required additional labor, materials, or time, the cost was explained and priced fairly. On the other hand, when modifications did not create meaningful additional costs and I simply changed my mind about a detail, he often worked with me without automatically issuing a change order. That level of fairness is not something all contractors provide.
Most of the work was performed by Cornelio's in-house team, many of whom have been with him for years and clearly operate like family. For specialized trades and third-party vendors such as HVAC, cabinetry, stone countertops, and other specialty work, Cornelio coordinated meetings to ensure everyone understood the objectives, design vision, and expectations before work began. That level of communication helped avoid misunderstandings and contributed significantly to the quality of the finished project.
Communication throughout the project was outstanding. Cornelio was accessible by phone and text, responded promptly, and kept us informed every step of the way. Work progressed consistently, and the project never sat idle for days or weeks without explanation. When issues arose, communication was clear, proactive, and honest. Unfortunately, that is not always the case with contractors, based on experiences friends and family have had.
Perhaps the thing I appreciated most was Cornelio's attitude toward customer satisfaction. He frequently said, "I need my clients to be happy with the work. If you're not happy, let's figure out how to make it right." And he genuinely meant it. On the rare occasions when something did not meet my expectations, he made sure it was corrected, whether the work had been performed by his own team or by a subcontractor. The key to avoiding problems was the significant amount of communication and planning that occurred before the work started and throughout the project.
No remodeling project is perfect. In my opinion, every project experiences some combination of changes, surprises, delays, or unforeseen issues. What matters is how those situations are handled. CAP Angeles handled them professionally, fairly, transparently, and with integrity.
I am happy to recommend CAP Angeles and have already referred them to friends and colleagues. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
