While other similar stores haven't survived until today this one was a great visit when we wandered Whyte Avenue with some visitors from out of the country and they picked up some unique souvenirs. The store is so filled with items that there's always something new to spot when visiting. It is perhaps hard to find what you're looking for if you only want to find something very specific but if you're open to finding new things this is a great option! The floor creaks when you walk in some spots and the decor and store itself is old but this adds to the charm. It can be overwhelming to visit (but sometimes this saves me some money).

The lady who owned the store was chatting away showing off new items in the clothing boutique at the back of the room. She was lovely and very approachable. I needed up buying a top and necklace for my mother in law. The fashion is really nice and aimed at ladies in their 40s+ I would say. I was into plenty of it, as they have a really nice on trend rack. The home wares are fun interior decor items inc paintings, ornaments, furniture, vases and mirrors. I have my eye on a cactus cookie jar. They were in the middle of taking down all their Christmas stuff so can't wait to see what stock they put in it's place.

I really like their line of moon necklaces/bracelets where you pick the phase of the moon on a special date (birth, death, wedding, etc.) and can wear it as jewellery. I also like their sparkly Swarovski crystal bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Some stuff here for sure can be found elsewhere or online for less but that's not the point of a boutique store. But at the Prettiest Present they really have a great variety of really useful gifts! From presents for those pooch peeps, to culinary and kitchen gadgets - as well as neat necessities. Then there are the baby gifts, the seasonal decor for your own abode, a wall of tempting teas and some really unique jewelry. And then the pies de resistance... they have the most fabulous collection of gift bags, gift boxes and paper so that when you find that perfect present you can also wrap it up without having to go to another store! Love it!! Although, I do not remember seeing ribbon or cards, I could be wrong, or maybe that's just asking for the moon. Pro Tip: Make sure to go into the basement! They specialize in handcrafted glass home decor which they create themselves in the workshop at the back of the store. Everything is truly a work of art here and deserves to be admired at every angle -- and yes, it's all pure glass, so tread through the shop slowly and carefully (hey, if I made it through okay, so can you)! My favorites were the martini glasses and flutes, with beautiful streaks of colored glass. This is a great place to check out if you're looking for a unique gift. It's a bit pricey, but then again, all their stuff is handmade. The Cat's Glass is more than a gift shop however, because they specialize in customized windows as well. Glass is their thing here, so if it's glass you want, this is where you need to be.

There's unique furniture, from upholstered chairs with Indonesian wood to impressive boudoirs, coffee tables and bureaus. There's lots of decor, from $600 original blown-glass decorative bowls and plates to silk and brocade pillows, jewelry, chandeliers, and throws. It's impossible to do this place justice in words. The impressive collection must be seen and appreciated. If you're looking for original items for your home, include this on your treasure hunt.

I could immediately tell we would not be able to afford anything in the store, but we browsed anyways. The woman who worked here showed us around and showed us the wine glasses she had available. They were not my style (and I could not have afforded them if I wanted them) because they were very formal, and I was looking for something a little more fun. They did have a selection of wine glasses and other things for 25% off, but even with the discount, these items were not in our range. Despite the lack of money that we had available we walked slowly through this store and browsed the beautiful things. Everything was very formal and fancy. If I had enough money to splurge, I would go here and buy one of their beautiful tables. This store is dripping in glamour and it needs to be seen to believed.
