Instead she went snooping into rooms upstairs where she WASNT Supposed to be. She stole 3 pairs of my high end leggings and 3 pairs of my jeans along with 4 pairs of cami tank tops that were tucked away safely in a drawer. Mind you she's not our regular care giver for my grandma . She was just here for a day becasue our regular caregiver was out sick. Clarendale has greatly exceeded our family's expectations. After my mother passed in February of…read more2017, my 84 year old father needed an assisted living facility that met a variety of his needs - food preparation, housekeeping, personal assistance, 24 hour nursing and entertainment. Clarendale provides these services but goes WAY above and beyond what is normally expected. There is a bar with a daily happy hour, a theater room, health club, spa, salon, fine dining, cafe and even a house golden retriever. If you want to celebrate holidays at the facility, you can rent out a private dining room that has a capacity of 10-12. Clarendale feels more like a W Hotel than a retirement home. For years leading up to my father's move, i contacted a variety of assisted living facilities in the NW suburbs and routinely concluded the calls shaking my head. Aggressive sales pitches and evasive language were the norm (Friendship Village was the worst in this regard). While Clarendale does employ sales staff, it isn't so over-the-top. Moreover, staff are engaged and appear genuinely interested in providing a superior experience. In terms of the overall package (apartment finishing, staff, facilities, extra amenities), Clarendale is exceptional - better than Sunrise and Friendship Village. As this facility recently opened, everything is in pristine condition. In terms of superlative alternatives, the only option I found is Mather [of Evanston], which has few locations and, like a timeshare, can require over a million dollars upfront (literally over 1 million USD to buy in). That being said, Clarendale is great. There are a few corner apartments remaining as of April 2017, so if your loved one is seeking something posh with views of two separate directions, I would highly recommend grabbing one of these units before they are occupied.

I hope this is a warning for families that are thinking of putting their loved ones in Clarendale of Algonquin. We finally had enough of their in adequate facility and moved my mom out.

My mom lives in the Northwest Suburbs and we finally decided that she could no longer "do it…read morealone". We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

Right At Home was entirely unlike this. A Josh Steiner came to our house to evaluate our home and get an overall idea on what services we required and which employees would best fit. Following this a gentleman named Zach Steiner came by with an employee to introduce and get started with us. As far as communication about employees and poss schedule change i have mostly dealt with Stephanie in the office who has always had a pleasant attitude and speaks very professionally on matters at hand. Some employees we have had for a weekly schedule but when needed they sent a fill in that was polite and able to meet our needs fittingly. All the employees helped us in all ways even when we have to leave the site for shopping or go on an appointment. I needed cataract surgery and called Comfort Keepers in Grayslake for transportation to and from…read moreLoyola in Maywood from my home in Mundelein. I needed someone to stay at the hospital during the procedure and then take me home after. I met with Ryan who took all my information and matched me with one of their care givers, Daria. Daria was fabulous. My procedure meant I needed to be at the hospital at 5:30am. Ugh. We left my home at 4:30am and Daria didn't bat an eye at the time. Afterward, Daria pulled the car up to the hospital door, helped me in and took me to Target to help me get the one lens from my glasses removed that corresponded with the eye that just had surgery. Unfortunately, I was in a tremendous amount of pain and Daria was there every step of the way. I have already requested her for my second cataract surgery. I cannot say enough praise for Comfort Keepers and especially for Daria.

I was promised return phone calls and follow ups but was ghosted several times. Big waste of my time and my mother's. Wouldn't recommend.
