Daria was fabulous. My procedure meant I needed to be at the hospital at 5:30am. Ugh. We left my home at 4:30am and Daria didn't bat an eye at the time. Afterward, Daria pulled the car up to the hospital door, helped me in and took me to Target to help me get the one lens from my glasses removed that corresponded with the eye that just had surgery. Unfortunately, I was in a tremendous amount of pain and Daria was there every step of the way. I have already requested her for my second cataract surgery. I cannot say enough praise for Comfort Keepers and especially for Daria.

I was referred to HomeWell Care Services in Lake Forest and spoke with the owner, Ines Eisner, MD, PhD, who immediately grasped our situation and offered a viable plan. I was impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and sensitivity and felt like I was speaking with a personal friend. Ines visited my husband at rehab, and then met me at our home to inspect the setting and offer suggestions to facilitate recovery. On the morning of my husband's discharge, Ines met us at the Whitehall and introduced us to our lovely new caregiver, Noreen, whom I soon referred to as our "Guardian Angel." Noreen moved into our home for two weeks, assisting my husband with all of his needs on the road to full recovery while simultaneously helping me around the house. Rehabilitation impacts not only the patient, but the entire family. Noreen was invaluable, maintaining a very positive and cheerful attitude -- she was tireless and couldn't do enough. We will be sad to see her leave, but plan to stay in touch. I highly recommend this agency.

We are in a much better place now, and I feel compelled to warn others. Right at Home was truly awful- no communication. I'm not sure how they even had clients. We had to call them to find out who was coming for my mom. I can't recall EVER receiving a phone call informing me, I always had to call them. Schedules that should have been known and planned for became unnecessary emergencies because of their poor communication. My mom very much liked one of their caregivers - she was wonderful - so we were tied to the agency. That it the only reason we stuck with them as long as we did. The caregiver was pregnant, and we had to tell them! They claimed they were unaware. Right at Home had zero communication with us regarding her replacement until WE asked them if they had a plan. Their staff made us feel like they were only concerned about the money. I truly felt like they would just throw whoever they could on the schedule and they did not have as many caregivers as they said they did when we signed up with them. Two of their caregivers abandoned my mom. I never heard an apology. When I contacted their owner, Matt, regarding an issue, I got no follow thru other than an email thanking me for my communication and a promise to be in touch. Never heard from the guy again. They simply placed whoever they could find with my mom, taking no consideration as to how she would react to the person. Just horrible service. If you are a caregiver - don't sign up with them. They will treat you like crap and lie to you. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Right at Home. We've since used a different agency - and I can confidently say that Right at Home does not deserve to be in business. Don't trust your loved one in their care.

My mom lives in the Northwest Suburbs and we finally decided that she could no longer "do it…read morealone". We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.
