Branded Bargains is if you like, your large version of Home Bargains as it is very similar in layout and style so don't be fooled for seeing double; this place is like Home Bargains big brother and you will find allsorts of extra items to buy at low prices in addition to the usual Home Bargains products. I like this place so much, that I'm now a regular shopper at this store; its truly a hidden treasure chest (well, not exactly but you know what I mean)! It is out of the way from the main road and situated behind TJ Hughes so not often noticeable. If I had to use a map to find this place, I would say its definitely worth it.

If you've never read my reviews before, well, shame on you! I mean, sorry, let me correct myself and say that you might not have HEARD of Home Bargains. Well, Liverpool, you are lucky. Not only do you have the behemoth of good value that is TJ Hughes on your doorstep, you also have the student and freelance writer (not that I'm talking about myself, noooo) Mecca of shopping wonderment that is Branded Bargains. They're Bargains. And they're Branded. Meaning they're cheap, and they're things you've heard of. Johnson & Johnson moisturisers, for instance. L'Oreal shampoos. Heinz beans. Pot Noodles. Jordan's cereals. Not stolen personally from the muesli arsenal of Katie 'Jordan' Price, but rather the ones that Bill Oddie's voice waxes lyrical about when he's narrating the adverts. You name it, at some point (somewhat rotationally, we have to remember, as with Home Bargains) they'll have it. It's a great place to pick up quirky gifts and offers plenty of homeware as well as edibles and toiletries, and if you're even slightly strapped for cash you'll save a bundle here. Put it on your list of shops to visit.

From what I have observed, they have a generous selection of garden related items; this is what hit me most when I first entered. I mean, I've definitely seen cheaper discount shops on the Wirral and in Liverpool, let alone the much cheaper shops I've seen back home in the US, and certainly those I've visited in a third world country. So, claim you're cheap if you want, but as the mad Hatter says, "don't let's be stupid." Here you'll find pretty much the usual discount hodgepodge such as tea towels, rolls of tape, dog treats, recycled paper notebooks, baby socks, etc. And yeah it's cheap, but no it's definitely, definitely not the cheapest shop on earth. You will probably find comparable prices nearby at Home Bargains, and the quality will be better to boot.

As you can see from my pictures the low price doesn't mean a scrimp on quality, and you can find everything from beds to sofas, chests of drawers to mirrors and a great deal more, including some very snazzy wall prints. I'm a huge fan of this shop, and it's ever so handy for any students or young urban things moving fresh into the area. The staff are really friendly and there's even a fridge where you can buy cold drinks if trudging around the store has taken it out of you. Brilliant stuff!

Anything from mugs, 'The Beatles' picture frames and football memorabilia, they have here. The shop is quite spacious with several welcoming staff that greet you with a smile each time you enter. All prices in general are cheap with all funds going towards a good cause for helping local families and children. This shop offers more variety than most of the smaller charity shops as they fit in items such as ornaments, clothes and crockery. As well as that, they have the usual suspects like children's books and videos. The shop generates a good browse whenever passing by, because there is always something new in the window display. And sometimes, these items can be quite unique.

The place can feel a little crammed at times especially when there are customers trying to brush past you. It probably has all your bare essentials in terms of basic products for the home such as stationery, cleaning products and cheap gifts and ornaments. It is also adequate for children's toys but as simple as you can get. If you want something simple but don't really have much of a target what to buy, you won't spend a lot in here.

The store mainly attracts those who own businesses as items are usually sold in bulks, hence you have to become a member which requires certain eligibility. Prices do not include VAT until you reach the checkout so this is something to be wary of. However, it is a great store that you could probably spend a good few hours browsing. Prices in general are affordable and not overly expensive. The location in Liverpool is rather in an isolated position with it being in an industrial estate and away from the main road. Most people have to have a car to use this store which makes sense when you're buying products in bulk form!

The whole indoor/outdoor environment feels dull, dated and unappetising. As for the type of stuff on offer, the previous review accurately sums it up. If you visit on a winter's day, it just adds to the gloominess. So whatever you do, make sure you visit on a pleasant summer's day (if you have to); it'll help brighten up the aspect!

It's just minutes away from the shiny new Liverpool One shopping centre, on Commercial Road, which runs all the way through north Liverpool. Prior to Thatcher's rule, this was a thriving and bustling area employing thousands of people, the lifeblood of this great city. Now it's ramshackle with most of the docks deserted, but still incredibly interesting to see. I can run riot with my Canon. It may be billed as the Camden of the north but lacks the international flavour of its London 'counterpart'. There is a small food court but unless you fancy burger, chips, or a kebab you're struggling for choice. It's more greasy spoon than full-flavoured market, something you could never say about Camden. The stalls rarely change, from brick-a-brack to household goods to clothes. Once you've been there's no need to go back for a month or so, but it's worth a visit every now and again.

They have a good range of sizes and styles available here, suitable for all sizes and purses. Along with the clothing they also sell shoes, bags and jewellery which are also excellent and reasonably priced. The staff here are very friendly and will help you find the perfect item, but they are also happy to let you browse for as long as you like if that's what you prefer.
