Be wary of using Home Appliance for range‑hood installations. Just over a year after our renovation, the hood ripped straight out of the wall during normal cleaning -- because the installer didn't hit a single stud. Not one. They also drilled two screws into the flex duct, blocking a vent flap and potentially voiding the hood's warranty. That's not a small oversight; that's basic workmanship missing entirely. When we reached out, instead of standing behind their work, they wanted $138 to "diagnose" the problem they created. If I'd cleaned the hood a month earlier, it would've magically counted as "under warranty." Convenient timing. After 14 years of buying exclusively from them, it's clear the quality and accountability have dropped sharply since Mike Polk left. Family‑owned doesn't automatically mean quality -- sometimes it just means no one steps up when they mess up. In the end, I fixed the install myself, which I should've done the first time. I paid $250 for their install, and now I get to pay in time and frustration to correct it. That streak of loyalty ends today. read more

I purchased a washer and dryer 3 years ago - first it was installed improperly, second they outsourced the service contract - when I needed repair on the dryer the service person did not speak a word of English and has his phone to translate - I felt very unsafe and would never recommend Home Appliance to anyone - it is impossible to get any help once you purchase the product. We purchased our washer and dryer under the guarantee that they service all appliances in house. In the fall of 2024 I bought all new appliances (washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave) from Home Appliance in Brunswick, Ohio. I had done business with them before and had no issues. The appliances in the home I bought were older and I didn't want to worry about them breaking. I bought extended warranties on the kitchen appliances. This past Christmas, the freezer in my refrigerator stopped working. I was able to move the food into an auxiliary freezer. I called Home Appliance to report the issue. I was informed that they do not service my area. There was no mention of this when I purchased the products! They contacted the extended warranty company for me. That company said they didn't have technicians in my area and that I would have to get it fixed myself and submit a bill for reimbursement! I called Home Appliance and explained what I was told. I also asked to be reimbursed for the warranties I had paid for as they were worthless. I was told I would hear from them. Nothing to this day! We'd been looking for a new refrigerator for a while. Ours was running, so it wasn't urgent but we were starting to get antsy. Every fridge we liked was either poorly reviewed, unavailable, or wouldn't fit through the tiny doorway of our old home. On advice from my in-laws we took a ride out to the Brunswick showroom and were promptly greeted by a nice young lady who sent us in the right direction. Moments later, we were approached by Mike P. he asked us what we were looking for and what was important to us - instead of being a typical sales man and telling us what we want! He checked on availability, printed spec sheets, gave us his honest, professional advice and guided us through the process. He was so polite and friendly and HELPFUL- it was so refreshing! He was not pushy in any way, encouraged us to ask questions, and gave us plenty of time to speak privately. When we made a decision, it was a very easy process to get the order written up and delivery scheduled. What I liked about buying from Home Appliance was if we have any issues with our fridge, we call THEM instead of GE. This kind of customer service isn't as common anymore and I know we will be well taken care of. Even before we got our delivery I'm comfortable giving them this review. Delivery and installation went great. The guys who showed up were on time, polite, tidy, and efficient. They were friendly to my puppy too, eventhough she barked THE WHOLE TIME. They offer to haul away the old fridge, which we didn't need, but was very nice. We've had the fridge a little over a month now and we could not be happier with it. Great suggestion from Mr Polk. Their show room was beautiful- lots of appliances to choose from, but not too many to feel overwhelmed. They only sell what they can service and stand behind. This is the second purchase we made at Home Appliance. The first one was for a dishwasher and installation. The Thermador dishwasher we bought is fine, however their installation was not. This time we purchased an ice maker, warming drawer and beverage cooler, approximately $6K. After the fiasco of the dishwasher installation, we chose to have a plumbing company install them. We had some issues with the ice maker and called the manufacturer, and they referred us to Home Appliance for service. We had to wait over a week to have someone come out and examine the ice maker. The technician they sent out told me he does not normally work on these ice makers which begs the question why would you send out a technician who doesn't work on something that needs to be worked on?? After examining it he said the drain hose was kinked and too small. I asked him what size drain hose would be correct so I could have the plumbing company come back out and install it. The technician reiterated to me that he does not work on ice makers and did not know. I then asked him if there was someone at Home Appliance who would be able to tell me, his answer was yes. He didn't offer to put me in contact with them or or tell me how I could contact them so I asked him how I would find them and his answer was he didn't know. At this point I became completely annoyed and told him to get out of my home. As a small business owner myself, I try to support other small businesses, however when they deliver service like Home Appliance it doesn't make sense. My guess is that Home Appliance will have somebody from their marketing department respond to this review and act as though it is a one off and it's very important that they address it and make it right. However, they never made the dishwasher installation right and I'm sure they won't make this right nor do I want them to. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice never again. Just go with the large corporate retailers instead. read more

Very nice knowledgeable sales people that are helpful and not pushy. The salesperson we had helped us and stepped away to give us space. We also found out that they do consider prices from other competitors. The sales person before he gave me a price he looked at all the competitors and told me that his price was lower. Yes they do have prices clearly listed on all of their appliances. I just happen to like an appliance that the price tag just ran away. Could you believe they make full size ovens with air fryer technology?! Who knew!! Well I found out about this at this particular store. It's really big and they have tons of appliances to choose from. Although I'm not ready to make a decision I'm glad I received help. They also offer extended warranties as well as do a lot of their own repairs from what I gather. It seems that there main go to is the General Electric product. After taking our sales lady's advice we purchased a new GE washer & dryer. We are only in our Ohio home June - October and Thanksgiving thru Christmas. Our washer & dryer was delivered days before we left for the winter, meaning it was only used a few times. Upon returning home and using the appliances I instantly knew the dryer was not working properly. I called for service to come repair it. The first time they were here was in August 2025 and they tried four different methods to repair it but couldn't. At that point they recommended we contact GE, which we did. After four attempts with no success the repairman GE sent advised us to contact GE directly and complain. We went back to Home Appliance to let them know we felt this wasn't our problem and it wasn't fair that we had to call GE. We were told that was our only option. We called GE, they sent ANOTHER tech. That tech told us that had we called GE the very first time they might have replaced the dryer by now. I 100% feel our sales lady should have known this and saved us a lot of hassle and saved us from having nine separate attempts at fixing it. As of today, December 17, 2025, the dryer is still not working and guess what... it's now past warranty!! For these reasons I will never purchase from Home Appliance and I will never recommend them!! read more

Quick diagnosis and part replacement for Kitchenaid dishwasher Daniel came to our house and diagnosed our Kitchenaid dishwasher with a bad control board for ~$90 (standard visit/diagnostic fee; most appliance companies have this). (You could see burn marks on it when he took it out of the door!) Daniel was knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful--I wanted to learn what I could and he was happy to show me as he diagnosed our problem. It turned out I needed a $200 part, and we talked through options including self-repair, third-party control boards, and what his company could order. He ordered the parts before he left, saying they return stuff all the time in case I decided not to get it. I made phone calls and ultimately decided to just get the part from Home Appliance Sales & Service. (It had arrived within hours, and the next cheaper option was to send our control board to a third party for repair/replacement, which could take a week or more!) I picked up the part the same day from the Home Appliance storefront in Brunswick (pictured) after speaking with Jeff in parts and David at the front desk (both helpful a d friendly). And I had a working dishwasher that night! (Note: Daniel said a technician could come back the next day to install the part, but it looked simple enough I just did it.) If I could give less stars I would. Honestly their true review would just be an emoji of a burning dumpster. By far the WORST experience I have ever had buying appliances. We went to them to buy all of the appliances we needed for our new home we were building and once they had our money we had nothing but problems. It took me over a week to get delivery scheduled because nobody would call me back. Once I finally got ahold of them and got delivery and installation scheduled they changed the instillation day at the last minute and then still showed up much later then they told me they would so I was not able to be at the house during the install. I went the next day and found our microwave still sitting in it's box on the floor. Nobody got in touch with me to tell me it was not installed or explain why. I had to call them to ask and the install guy I talked to was just a surprised as I was and had no answers. He told me he would call me back and here we are a week later with still no communication from them. I ended up paying one of our contractors to install the microwave and he did it in 10 minutes so it was clearly not a difficult task. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Go literally anywhere else to get your home appliances. read more

Home Appliance is great when you're walking in to buy an appliance. They are helpful and willing to answer all questions....but after the sale their customer service is terrible. We bought a GE Profile Refrigerator that was delivered with a large dent in the left door, next to the ice maker. The refrigerator was delivered Dec 26th. We are expecting the change of the left door for a new door on Jan 19th. So far so good. We'll see how that goes.....our bigger issue comes with buying a new GE Profile Washer and Dryer . After a week of having our washer and dryer the washer broke. We called on a Thursday and a technician came out the following Tuesday. The washer worked for 1 day and broke again. The store told us they were going to have to order parts. My husband said it was completely unacceptable for a brand new washer to already need parts and that we want it replaced. They told us they would have to contact GE for authorization of issuing us a new washer and they would get back to us the next day. It's been 2 days and no call back....even after my husband left two voicemails. Now it's Friday and I'm sure we will not hear from anybody until after the weekend . We realize things cannot be fixed overnight but at least keep your customer informed. I am furious. There are four people living in our house. We should not be left going to our families homes or laundromats doing our laundry with a new and broken washer sitting in our home. My husband left a final message he wants the washer picked up and our money back. Go somewhere and buy your appliances where you're treated with more respect than this. read more

I called Home Appliance to repair my dishwasher because my glasses and dishes were all coming out of the dishwasher with a white film on them. I tried vinegar rinsing and it would seem to clean the dishwasher but the next wash, the glasses still came out with a film on them. The 2 technicians who came out from Home Appliance spent approximately 10 minutes at my house and diagnosed the problem : the white film was actually SMOKE and that my heating element was shorting out. They told me to NEVER run the dishwasher again it was dangerous!!! They told me I needed a new dishwasher and gave me a card to get a 10% discount at Home Alliance and to call if I had any questions I called them the next day because it didn't make sense once I thought about it that the SMOKE didn't appear if I ran it thru with vinegar. I didn't get a return call. Tried again. No return call. So. I called another appliance repair place. That technician spent about 45 minutes at my house. Ran error codes and came to the conclusion I needed a rinse aid. Then I told him about the bad heating element. He said he saw no signs of that. I bought the rinse aid. Worked perfectly. Now 3 months later my dishwasher is running just fine. I called and emailed Home Appliance customer service. Not once. Multiple times. The girl I talked to said she informed the manager and I believe her. No call back. No apology. No refund for the service call. DO NOT USE this company read more

Pricing of the house call was imo too high to just install (2) refrigerator seals that I purchased. To drive to my location (18) miles, with their tools and talent, was over $120 to just get to my location and then to install was another $200! Yikes, I guess the professional I needed was me all along!!! Anyway turns out we didn't need anyone to do a job that didn't require a diagnosis with an expensive machine or experienced prof. opinion, I did the work and saved over $300.! Certainly in the automotive field to diagnose an electrical problem or computer issue will require expert analysis, high priced equipment and time, I wasn't asking for any of that , just wanted an oil change and rotate the tires...just wanted the seals put on in half the time it took me! I believe that a separate cost should be considered if the work required is just that simple. Home appliance hid behind the policies they had set up to eliminate any discount pricing that would affect their bottom line. Can't work with that kind of structure unfortunately, which is fine, it worked out,just took longer than they would have. Last summer, I bought a whole GE kitchen package (from awesome salesman, Mike) and he assured me that the biggest advantage to buying from Home Appliance, instead of a big box store, was not just the comparable prices, but the service. And he was right. When I had an unexpected "warming" problem come up with the refrigerator/freezer, I called. Service tech, Chad, came out within a few days (not bad in this COVID-19 time). He arrived with Purell, gloves, footies, his own footstool and we both wore masks at a safe distance. After checking everything out thoroughly, he discovered that I had somehow put the system into "Demo Mode" - which is not even listed as an option in the GE Handbook. Apparently, if you press the wrong buttons in the wrong order (involving "Lock") you can warm the fridge and freezer up, while lights still work! A simple fix: pull out and unplug for a bit to reset. Something I wish could have been put in the Handbook and online by GE! Thankfully, Chad knew this! He stayed to monitor cooling long enough to be happy, leveled the appliance, checked the dishwasher level and was friendly, informative and positive - all from about 10 ft away! Chad cleaned up carefully and left with more than a job well-done. He left me smiling with satisfaction. Too bad you couldn't see it because of the mask! read more

I bought a fridge from the Home Appliance in Lodi in April of 2021. I try and support local businesses but in this case it was a mistake. I had to wait on it due to Covid. I had no problem with that. The day finally came, I was finally getting my fridge! The delivery guys took the protective film off the doors before they brought it inside. They scratched both the top and bottom doors. Big scratches all the way down. Plus, there was a small ding on the side. I called the shop and they referred me to the Home Appliance in Brunswick. They offered me a discount of $100 for the ding on the side and they would replace the doors. I took their offer. Now it's Dec of 2022 and I'm STILL waiting on doors. Their excuse, "we ordered the doors but they keep coming in damaged". Same excuse several times. I finally just told them I would be glad to take doors off an existing fridge they had on the floor. Haven't heard back from them. Take your money to a reputable place. Home appliance isn't it. I believe at this point, a BBB complaint is in order and then attorney general. Not to mention spreading the word on social media. I have been more than patient. I paid $1100 on a brand new fridge. I'm entitled to get what I paid for. One star is one too many. read more

Matt, at Advantage Washer/Dryer Repair, was three weeks out and referred me to Home Appliance - thank you Matt! I was scheduled within the week. Brian arrived on time, balanced my washer (which had never worked right since it was installed) and rescued a couple pounds of coins from my dryer. He explained to me how the high efficiency machines I had purchased operate differently than the old-fashioned agitator style washers, so I now have realistic expectations of my machines' capabilities. I had purchased a refrigerator and dishwasher from Home Appliance. My experience with both transactions was bad. First, as everyone knows when you order appliances they are not readily available. My salesperson came out to make sure that the dishwasher I had purchased would fit the opening. I was assured that it would, after waiting for months to find out no it didn't when they tried to install. Had to purchase another dishwasher and another day waiting for installers. The refrigerator was a total disaster. I had to wait six months for the refrigerator only to find out it was a lemon. The ice maker quit working after three months. The refrigerator would freeze my fruits and cheeses. The service person came out to fix my ice maker and to test my refrigerator for temperature fluctuation. Told me that he had fixed the ice maker only to find out that he didn't. Also, left a temperature gauge in an apple. Who does this, this day an age take a temperature in an apple, doesn't tell the owner and they find out by finding it later. Cross contamination, evidently they haven 't heard of this!!!! I was told I would need another part for the refrigerator. Obviously, this company thinks you have all the time in the world. Thank goodness I don't work. I can't imagine taking time off from work. I told them that I wanted my my money back. Nothing is easy with this company. Got my money back, but all on their schedule!! Had to schedule for pick up in order to get your money back. Even the person to pick up refrigerator gave me hard time. No thanks Home Appliance I will never do business with you ever again. Good selection and competitive prices. We ordered a fridge that arrived damaged with a hole on the inside. We rejected the delivery and notified our salesman of the issue. He was to get back to us with when another could be delivered. 5 days go by without contact as there was no call or return of our calls. Finally we went into the store to get an update and learned no replacement had even been ordered yet. At this time we canceled our order. This again took several calls and days of back and forth as they weren't able to even cancel our order on the spot in the store. When our order was refunded it was the incorrect amount resulting in more back and forth. I will not be recommending this place as they are terrible with returning phone calls and resolving any issues out of the ordinary. read more

After spending over $20,000 in appliances, they overlooked ordering one of our appliances with no plan to follow up and order that appliance. In addition, we paid them to install the appliances, which 2 of the appliances were installed incorrectly resulting appliances not working. When we notified them of the issues, they advised it would be 2 weeks before a service member could attempt to resolve the issues. I escalated this to management 3 times before getting a call back and the manager who did call me back did not following through on the things they said they would do. After the 1 of the appliances was addressed, which that service member was helpful, the service member advised a person from their installation team would have to resolve the issue with our fridge and I receive a follow up call. After no follow up for over a day, I called them back again to be sent to the installation coordinator's voicemail. Overall, top to bottom this company provides very poor service and I encourage you to take you business to another company. read more
