They weren't dishonest, really, just excessive. Especially with cost (...pretty obviously constrained by dinosaur policy -- what felt geared towards getting a fleeced customer to buy a new appliance from Sears). The Sears guys estimated a four-figure two-man project, including for two off-the-shelf generic machine screws, $37 each, parts only. (Still had to pay them for coming out.)
