From the beginning of the project through the end, Darwin worked with us to ensure that we got everything we wanted and that the final product was exactly what we hoped for in terms of design and finish. He gave us a clear and accurate estimate of the costs, accompanied us to building supply retailers to choose materials and our town hall for permitting, and walked us through what to expect from the job before he started. He did all ordering and received all the deliveries. He was very thorough in ensuring that any rotted wood or damage behind our previous siding was repaired. He ensured that Tyvek covered all exposed areas as he worked to prevent further damage and protect the repair work he finished before the new siding could go up. Darwin kept us informed of any and all extra costs above the estimate, and got our approval before moving forward, whether those costs resulted from unforeseen damage behind the old siding or extra requests we put in, such as wiring and installation of outdoor lighting. He put up with annoyances such as (more than one!) yellow jacket nests behind walls and our dogs' obsession with following him around and demanding attention and pets while he worked. He even occasionally let our dogs out when we weren't home to do so! Darwin worked with our electrician to ensure that some faulty wiring/electrical boxes were properly repaired as needed as he proceeded with his work. The final result of his work was excellent and we were very happy to have chosen his company to complete the job. Our house looks great! Darwin worked within our budget and allowed us to pay as we went along, always making us aware of exactly what we were paying for and how much we still owed. He left the property neat and clean, and even went above and beyond at times, for example, leaf blowing our deck after he finished the siding on it. He was careful to fix any little touch ups and repairs we requested along the way and at the end of the job's completion. Furthermore, Darwin was an absolute pleasure to work with---completely trustworthy and always cheerful and agreeable, even when I was being indecisive or nit-picky. We trusted Darwin with the key to our home throughout the project, and felt very safe and secure knowing that we could completely trust him in our home even when we were not there. Darwin is hardworking and reliable, and his company were an excellent choice for us. We definitely plan to hire them again as needed for other repair jobs. Attached, please find pictures of their work. Please excuse the dirty garage doors--that was not work we hired him to do anything with and we have not yet had them repainted.

Yuriy had also done other homes in our area and the reviews were excellent. The project happened exactly as he said it would and the execution was flawless. The men arrived on time and it was a total team effort. We were very impressed. There were no hidden charges. The team also left our property clean and our new roof looks great. I would highly recommend this company.

Our primary residence was in need of a new roof and so we got several estimates. We decided to use Riga not only because of their professionalism and fair price, but also they took the time to go over and explain the work. We were very pleased with our new roof. A couple months later, during a nor'easter, a tree came down on a rental property we own and did extensive damage to the roof and a gutter. We immediately called Yuriy at Riga who made our repair a priority and worked with us to get us pictures and an estimate to send off to our insurance company. Riga made the necessary repairs timely and efficiently. Riga goes above and beyond and keeps in constant communication during the course of the project. Kris and Frank J

A Plus Exterior - Before and after

I recently had my roof replaced by A Plus Exteriors LLC in Milford, CT.. This is my review and…read moreexperience using A Plus Exteriors. First off, I have a High Ranch style home in a development of virtually identical High Ranch homes. All homes were built in the 70's and used gable vents in order to vent the roofs. The gable vents are literally like having 2 louvered open windows on each end of the roof. In the summer, the attic was so hot it would take the air out of my lungs if I stayed up there for more than 3 minutes. The roof was in need of replacement, so I called a few roofing contractors. They were all in the same ballpark with their prices using the same materials. They all recommended using a ridge vent that would "theoretically" allow the hot air trapped in my attic to escape out the top of the roof. Next, I called A Plus Exteriors LLC, and Alex Montero arrived at my home. Alex proceeded to my attic which was hot and it wasn't even summer yet. He tells me that gable vents are a cheap and inefficient way to vent a roof used by contractors, which is why all of the houses in your development have gable vents. He went on to inform me that the neighbors who had their roofs redone with ridge vents but leaving the gables now have worse ventilation problems because the air that comes into the attic through the gable vent goes right out the ridge vent when it enters, thereby leaving the middle of the roof hot. The two venting systems are fighting each other. Since I had insulation in my eaves, Alex suggested closing up the Gable Vents and installing an intake vent the length of the house on both sides about 2' up from the eaves to clear the insulation to allow cool air to flow in the bottom and hot air to flow out the top by the ridge vent. I looked at every house in my neighborhood and EVERY house had a ridge vent along with Gable Vents. That made me go online and Google informed me that everything Alex suggested was absolutely correct. It also explained why my central air system was inefficient on extremely hot days. The lesson I learned is that there are a lot of people out there who know how to nail on a shingle calling themselves "Roofing contractors." But there aren't a lot of Roofing Contractors that know Roofing. A Plus Exteriors knows roofing better than all that I've seen and is recognized by the manufacturer as a "Platinum Contractor" which allowed A Plus Exteriors to offer me an astounding 50 year 100% Guarantee on both Materials & Labor that is transferable if I sell the house.

He stayed in touch and was available throughout the entire process--great communication and customer service. Danny, the construction manager, made sure everything was done to code and as promised. He was hands-on and attentive, ensuring the job stayed on track. They pulled the necessary permit, were properly licensed and insured, and used GAF roofing materials, which gave me added confidence in the quality. Like many contractors I've worked with over the past 30 years, there's always room for improvement in safety protocols--but overall, they did a solid job keeping their crew safe. Cleanup could have been a little better, which is pretty common with roofing projects. That said, Danny came back the next day with a magnet to double-check for nails in my gray gravel driveway (which is tough to search), and sure enough, he found and removed a few. That kind of follow-through matters. And here's a major plus: the job came in at a good price with long-term interest-free financing--a rare and excellent bonus. Would I recommend Gunner Roofing or use them again? Absolutely.

Gunner replaced the roof and siding on our house and garage in February; ultimately they look fine…read more I might say that they look nice (great, even!) if our experience with Gunner hadn't been so appalling. The workers were extremely inconsiderate. They arrived at 7:30 AM and sat in their vehicles eating breakfast and blocking the driveway, requiring morning and afternoon car Tetris. There was a decent amount of snow on the ground when they began working but rather than shoveling or blowing snow out of the yard space next to the driveway, they piled the materials in the driveway, putting the game in Expert mode. They blew snow off the roof to begin working on it, and we had to repeatedly ask to have the paths to the front/back/side doors re-cleared. We also had to repeatedly ask project manager Dan to direct them that they should not begin work until 9:00 AM as a courtesy to our neighbors. On a number of occasions they didn't show up until much later in the day, including on one day at 1:30 PM when Dan very specifically said they would arrive at 9:00 AM. Sometimes they didn't show up at all, and only communicated why after we reached out (van broke down, it was too windy, etc.) They left a tremendous mess every day, including nails and bits of sharp metal where our dogs enter and exit the house. We were very clear that the yard gates needed to be fully closed so that our dogs wouldn't get out, and they repeatedly disregarded that, even using a large rock to keep a gate open and leaving it there when they left. We gave them access to a separate area of the house with a bathroom and full kitchen (and garbage can). They appropriated our large metal recycling can for smaller project debris (even though there was also a dumpster). They plugged in a microwave outside and left it sitting on the stairs to our deck, and left their food garbage everywhere. Piles of project debris were also left all around the property for days. Because of this, the property appeared as though it was still underway for weeks after it was "finished". They also piled leftover and scrap materials next to the dumpster which we later learned they sold for their own profit. At some point, they broke a very old window, original to the house. We discovered this on a Wednesday. Dan indicated that someone would come the following Tuesday to measure the glass and get a replacement installed. No one appeared on the agreed-upon Tuesday until late in the day, and we asked them to come back on Wednesday to avoid an overnight hole in the wall. Dan indicated that they would arrive at 9 AM. They did not arrive until 1:30 PM, equipped with the wrong tools, and then left to get the correct tools. By the time they got back, it was well into the afternoon. When they removed the window, they broke it further. There was a trail of glass left behind, and we were still picking up pieces months later because it was cleaned up so poorly. Again, we have pets (none of whom wear shoes in the house). It was at that point too late for them to get the glass replaced and the whole window reinstalled, so they loosely covered the hole left by the window with a piece of synthetic roofing felt on the interior. Neither of us were able to be home the following day, so we lived with this until Friday. When a worker showed up mid-morning, my husband asked if he needed anything, he said no and went about his work. He left (along with a hand towel from our bathroom!) not long after. The repair and resulting install were so poorly done it was almost unbelievable (see photos). Besides all of the cosmetic issues, the window's counterweight mechanism was not reattached, so it was no longer a functional window. Besides taking off with my hand towel, the worker left caulk smeared all over the bathroom and debris all over the floor and counter (and bizarrely, left the toilet seat up). After a great deal of back and forth, the window was ultimately replaced, with a cheap smaller window. In the weeks following the completion of the project, we repeatedly reached out to get someone to clean up the property. There have also been at least three occasions since February that siding has come loose, and each time we have waited weeks for a response and follow up. We are currently going on over a month waiting for the most recent repair to be completed, with absolutely no response from Gunner. It's disheartening to read (and have trusted) the many glowing reviews that came before ours. Like I said at the beginning of this godforsaken tome, the siding and the roof both look fine. There was some nice attention to detail paid to things like trim around exterior outlets. However, like the hand towel from my bathroom, I'm not sure where that attention to detail went when it came to the rest of the project. We are very disappointed in our overall experience with Gunner. The quality of service has not at all met our expectations for this (not inexpensive) undertaking.
