My husband and I have sailed with Holoholo Charters twice now. We took the all day snorkeling tour during the summer and the shorter snorkeling tour this winter. I encourage everyone to bring a rash guard for a little warmth during the winter. The service is awesome. The deli lunch is good and the crew is very knowledgeable about fish/birds/topography, etc. The boat is nice and the tours have never felt crowded. Having done both tours, I think I'll stick with the longer tour in the future bc snorkeling for only 1 hour is really short. It goes by too quickly. I felt like we saw many more fish in the summer, but we were luck to see a turtle this November. We also saw whales this winter. We saw tons of dolphins both times. Very nice trip! read more

Holo Holo Charters was a fun experience. We started off the morning early for our 7 hour cruise. Be sure to get there by 6:45 or they may leave without you. Our charter was full, about 45 people, but the boat was definitely large enough. Our captain, Captain Wendall, was friendly and knowledgeable about the coast (see pictures), while we sailed to our snorkeling location. The ride itself was fairly rough - multiple people were getting sick - but this wasn't due to the speed we were going but simply the rough ocean. 90% of people were fine, but if you have a weaker stomach, make sure you take some sort of sea sickness medicine at least an hour before you arrive. Expect to get wet unless you stay inside the boat. When we arrived at the snorkeling location, the crew set out different sets of gear that accommodated kids and adults of varying sizes. They also provided optional flotation devices, so don't worry if you're not the strongest swimmer. After snorkeling, we had a catered lunch which was pretty good, and the boat definitely brought enough food to accommodate all of the guests. The rest of the crew - Rich, Emily, and Shaked, were personable and constantly running around to serve guests. There was also unlimited beer available after snorkeling which was fun! Again, some people with weaker stomachs had to be careful. Overall I recommend Holo Holo Charters as a good experience to see the coast and some snorkeling. It's definitely an experience that you could do again if you visit Kauai (and two people in our party were doing just that)! I did the sunset cruise and it was amazing. First off, the crew was amazing. Ian was our captain and we also had Ahren and Jess. Ian was friendly and knowledgable. He did a great job narrating the trip and keeping us all safe. Jess and Ahren were super friendly and helpful... taking pictures, serving up drinks, assisting the older guests around the boat and just making sure everyone had a great time. The trip itself is a bucket list item for sure. The coast is stunning and one you will never forget. I'd go a thousand times over. Jess is a marine biologist, so she pointed out various animals we saw during the trip, including wild goats, sea turtles, dolphins and lots of beautiful birds. The food they served started with meat and cheese tray, accompanied by a veggie platter. Next was a pork and fish taco bar with makings to make tacos, burritos, salad, or nachos. There was also fresh cut pineapple, which went great in the mai tais. They served complimentary Mai tais, wine, beer and margaritas. At sunset, the boat stopped just outside the harbor and a champagne toast was served. The crew was great about making sure everyone got photos before heading back in. P.S. You are pretty much guaranteed to get wet at some point in the trip. The only dry spot is under the cabin. If you're wanting to get wet, definitely sit on the front or stand along the sides. So, bring a towel and a dry change of clothing! Also, if you get nauseous easily, or even if you don't , take some Dramamine before departing the port. read more

Besides for the killer sunburn I received from our amazing day with Holo Holo Charters everything was better than I ever imagined! When we were walked from the storefront to the docks I overheard comments from other passengers about the size of the boat and how many people they were about to cram on it. I became a bit concerned but once we were on the boat it did not feel too tight at all. We had space to keep our dry stuff dry and they provided snorkel gear as well. We took our own since we thought it would be easier and we were right. We were the first to hop off the boat at the beautiful cove where they took us to snorkel since we had brought our own gear. We found a sea turtle quickly and looked at all the amazing coral underneath us. Once we got back on the boat they started serving alcohol and they were always quick to replace a warm or empty beer. While we were on the boat they served breakfast and lunch and there was always enough for everyone. The captain said they usually sail back but there was not enough wind. It was a beautiful day and a lovely charter. I would definitely return to Holo Holo again or at least highly recommend them! So much fun! read more

BEST CREW! Captain Wendall, Rich, Kama & Kevin were exceptional! We were on the 7 hour super tour! At all times the crew was paying attention to all of the guest! They were quick to lend a steady hand, carry a plate or drink, provide a "fire" bucket discreetly and quickly to the couple of guests who needed it! The bathrooms were spotless, as was the deck and all areas of the boat. Not once were any of them off chatting among themselves! They happily took photos for everyone! Safety was paramount! And they took us to a wonderful Snorkel spot where we were the ONLY boat!! Then there were the 100+ majestic dolphins who approached our boat!! Captain Wendall had mad skills approaching the sea caves, soaked those of us who wanted to have a waterfall soak!! The office was professional, courteous and kind! Many mahalos to all of them! I'd give more than five stars if I could!! oh and the lunch was quite good too! And I can't forget that this boat was clearly built on and for these waters! A few tips: -You WILL get wet. -Bring sunscreen -Park in the parking lot where all the dirt/gravel are. The parking lot against the building across the street from Holo Holo Chatters is for another establishment -BRING TIP MONEY -If you have long hair like myself, tie it up! IM SPEECHLESS. (My tour was Sunday August 28th and we did the sunset tour.) On my tour they had Ian as the captain and deckhands/crew members Drew & Jess. The three of them really added to the whole experience. They engaged with all of us on the tour, they made the whole experience personal and much enjoyable. If I was rich enough and I had a boat of my own-- I'd totally poach the team for myself!! This crew was AMAZING!! They're knowledgable about how to care for their patrons and they're so accommodating. Jess was our curator. Drew was my Instagram photographer taking lots of pics and knowing all the angles a girl could want and need! Ian was the captain and was easy on the eyes! Being on a boat since I was a keiki, I know a good boat ride when I have a great captain! Ian knew just when to speed up, slow down and when/where the great photo ops were. There was even a few times that we stopped/slowed the boat to give fair warnings to those who weren't being smart and making safe decisions. Upon take off, LISTEN to your captain. We had Ian and he gave very good disclaimers && insight about safety and a rundown of what to expect on our tour. Once we took off on we were on the water Drew and Jess walked around offering water and drinks to us. I opened with a margarita and had a few beers throughout the ride. At one point Jess even tested me on my birthday, Lol. (I'm in my late 20's but still get flattered when carded or asked about my age.) The whole tour was a memory for the books. Try not to be on your phone people!! Take a moment to just SOAK in what is in front of you. Appreciate the scenic view and take mental notes. Your pictures, no matter the quality, will not do your memory justice. Please note if this is your first time on a boat take precaution. Bring some Dramamine as back up, always better to have it than not. Make your experience as enjoyable for yourself and the ones around you. Something to note? Bring cash to tip your crew. This was my first time to Hawaii and after a recommendation from a friend, decided to book a trip on holo holo since snorkeling in Hawaii is definitely on my bucket list. I researched a few other charters but this one seemed like the best bang for your buck. I called to book and the girl who I spoke with was so sweet and gave me a discount which was fantastic! The boat was great, the crew was amazing and the over all experience was more than perfect! It's an environmental where you feel at ease and comfortable. We all bonded, talked, laughter and even sang together. You literally come as strangers and leave as friends! We also saw so much! Several pods of dolphins, sea turtles, various fish, seals and the most breathe taking views I've ever seen. Ill definitely be back but in the mean time I'll send as many of my friends as possible! Also: the waves can be very choppy, it's like riding splash mountain for 20min. Be prepared to get wet for 80%+ of the trip and if you get sea/motion sick then don't forget your anti-nausea meds. Booked the activities through a third party for NaPali and Nihau plus snorkeling. Checked in the place at 6, and captain met us around 630. However, due to the weather condition, Nhau is not gonna be possible. 3 alternatives were given. We could either take the trip with a 25% discount, reschedule for another day or get a full refund. Given we will only be on the island for one more day, we took the first option. And it didn't disappoint at all. The ride to NaPali was a little rough, or "exciting" in the sailing world. Some people got sea sick and the threw up, but the crew members were very patient and friendly, didn't complain at all. We also saw a bunch of dolphins and a glimpse of whale during the ride. Captain stopped the boat for everyone to see in each situation. On the way back, the weather got much nicer. We made a stop near Port Allen where we started for snorkeling. This was about an hour long. Once that's done, food was already waiting for us on the boat. After lunch, we headed back and 25% refund was ready for us to pick up. Overall, it was an awesome ride and honestly I couldn't ask for more. They offer both breakfast and lunch to accommodate its early schedule. My husband and I were on the early morning super tour yesterday 10/20 and had an incredible time. First and foremost I have to thank Captain Wendell and his crew (Jake, Rich, Drew) for the best and most exciting boat ride up the Napali Coast. This trip is once in a life time, priceless experience and these guys make it even more fun, comfortable and amazing. They are professional, knowledgeable and gave great advice on where to hike and eat during our stay in Kauai. The conditions of the seas were not the most ideal and the captain was honest about it from the start. On days like this with winds and choppy seas you must be up for an adventure or sign up for a different day. They were very open to passengers changing their plans if this ride seemed to much for them due to the weather. From the moment I booked the trip, till the very end everyone I spoke with at Holo Holo were kind and accommodating. I'm impressed by their kindness, honesty and courtesy. Book with them and you will not be disappointed. I'll be honest I was a bit worried about this tour because of the cost for both my husband and I. I tell you it was worth every penny! 100% satisfied and we can't wait to return to Kauai and enjoy another adventure with these guys. We did the Niihau + Napali Super Tour. The tour said arrive by 6, so we arrive by 5:45. Once the rest of the tour showed up, around 6:20, Captain Glen showed up and gave us the lay of the land. Offering a refund / reschedule if we didn't like the conditions. He mentioned that we may not be able to see Na Pali that day but he'll know better once we got on the water. No one backed out. Once we got on the water, it was clear from the boat that the water was rough and it was raining on the north side (we hiked near Na Pali the day before and saw the huge swells there, so I don't blame him). So, unfortunately, we didn't make it to Na Pali or Niihau / Lehua Crater. Our tour went counter clockwise around the island, along the coast, from Port Allen to Ninini Point Lighthouse. Along the way, we saw whales within 15min of leaving the port, as well as several times throughout the day. At Kawai Point, dolphins swam right up against the boat! From Ninini Lighthouse, we saw several whales breaching from a distance. Once the first once breached, Glen informed the entire boat where to look and was headed that way. Eventually, the whales surprised us and swam nearby our boat! The rest of the tour consisted of snorkeling at Kipu Kai beach, which had the most fish I've ever seen + the first sea turtle I've seen in Hawaii!! After snorkeling, it was lunch time & open bar In terms of the staff: Jess had so many fun facts to share and knew a lot about the nature / wildlife / history of the island. James was also very informative and he was really interested in hearing the stories from all of the passengers + gave great advice about snorkeling. Heather was a mix of both, handy, knowledgeable, and also a drink ninja (idk how but she always knew when I needed another and always knew what I liked). But, Glen is a gem. I appreciated his care for the group and ensured that we would always have a fun time, even though conditions were less than ideal. He also ensured that we all got a discount off of the tour because we didn't see the Na Pali coast. read more

We were added to a waitlist for a sunset Nāpali coast charter. We called multiple times the day of to ask if there had been a cancellation to see if we should move on or still try to plan to be available for the charter. We were told there would always be a chance so we came to the harbor in case a spot opened up. We sat in their waiting room for over half an hour before we ourselves had to ask if everyone had checked in. There was no communication from the staff after knowing that everyone had checked in, I had to confront them myself to get a response on if we would be joining the charter or not. We literally watched the group walk away with the captain and still nothing from the front desk. No one even tried to get us on an available tour another day or speak to us about their other offerings. They would have left us sitting there all day. Horrible customer service. We did the super tour to see the Napoli Coast. What a great trip! Really neat way to see that side of the island. The crew was fantastic and was so helpful. The were pleased to serve lunch and breakfast and beer. They basically wanted to wait on us. The boat is large and comfortable. But here's a few tips. MANY people got seasick. It is NOT a smooth ride back. And they warn you of such. BUT the crew is professional and quick to help anyone who is getting sick. We actually took dramamine to be on the safe side and none of us got sick. TIPS: Take a rain jacket. You get SOAKED up front, and it gets chilly. And the snorkeling wasn't for the weak. The current was pretty strong and my 11 year old, who is a strong swimmer, had a harder time at the first snorkel stop. We purchased gift cards for holo holo off the costco website for a discount. AND TIP YOUR CREW. They work hard for you, so take cash. read more

We had a fantastic experience on our trip to Kauai in July. We booked their Napali/Niihau snorkeling trip. The water to Niihau was calm going over, and relatively so going back, which is rare. On the snorkeling portion we got to see 2 sharks, 2 monk seals, and a spotted eagle ray- as well as enough fish in the water that it looked like confetti. The Napali part was great too- awesome to see that side of the island up close. The crew was professional, friendly, and fun. We enjoyed our trip very much and would recommend this company to others who wish to see the waters of Niihau. read more

We saw lots of whales and dolphins and they were of course magical. That was wonderful! But this review is about the company, not magical Kauai. I feel bad to leave such a review but I really feel this tour was not handled right. I was looking forward to a trip to Ni'ihau and it was close to 300usd cost. Napali Coast boat tour is half of that. I arrived in the morning for a briefing and the captain said we can't go to Ni'ihau because of the weather and that we will stay on the coast of Kauai and get a partial refund. I was only refunded c. $40 had I known that I would have canceled and gotten the same boat trip for half the price. I really expected it to be Napali coast tour price. If we have an hour extra that was just spent by the harbor. There was no water, sodas, or snacks available between meals and the information said "Free beverages all day -- with beer and wine served after we snorkel". We snorkeled by the harbor about an hour before coming back so there was no time for beer or wine. To be fair, the crew was friendly but I just didn't feel like this change of schedule was handled right. And the coast of Kauai was very calm that day but I trust they had a legitimate reason for canceling Ni'ihau. I will try that another time to get to Ni'ihau and will choose another company. read more

My tour was scheduled for the Napali Coast but it was redirected to another area due to high winds. I didn't receive any notification in advance about this redirection and the Captain. Dave, just announced the change flippantly. We arrived at the tour expecting to go to the Napali Coast without any warning that it might cancelled. He gave us about 10 seconds to make a decision to cancel or stay on the tour without giving any information about the new tour location. I booked this tour specifically to see the Napali Coast, not to see another part of Kauai that I already visited. He was rude and unprofessional. Also if the tour had given us a discount, we might have remained on the tour. They showed poor business sense and practice since many people left the tour and they lost a lot of money. If you want to go on this tour make sure you ask in advance the likelihood of a cancellation. It was unfortunate that we planned our entire day around this tour and the tour showed no concern about how inconvenienced we were. read more

I had never been seasick before and got nauseous on the sailboat tour. The crew was so kind and empathetic- giving me ginger candies, water, etc. and making sure I still got to see the beautiful waterfalls and caves along the way. We saw spinner dolphins playing in the wake of the boat and the most beautiful sunset ever. This trip was worth every penny, even after feeling seasick for so much of the tour. We had an awesome experience with its morning snorkeling trip to Na Pali. We were sailing with Captain Kelly, Wade, and Max. We have costco membership so we were able to get its gift cards with 20% percent off and use those gifts cards to pay for our expense. It saved us 60 dollars which is not bad at all. if u don't have a costco membership book it online they had 15 dollar off per person via online booking. the whole crew really knew when the ride is getting rough they gave us warning of when we want to sit inside unless we want to get super wet. Captain Kelly was awesome and definitely very skillful in maneuvering the boat/ catamaran. she was able to drive near the cave so we were able to get a splash of the water fall. literally the catamaran was right below a water fall. and we were able to see so many dolphins!! during our sail, the Captain would look out for dolphins and stop and have us have real Dolphins encounters! it was truly amazing to see so many dolphins all at once and the dolphins were swimming around the boat! the crew members really did take care of us. Max consistently asked us and other riders if we wanted drinks and got it for us. truly great customer services! and they also took time to explain the type of dolphins that we are seeing and explained the landscape of Na Pali. Overall, truly a five star tour. definitely felt safe even though we had some rough waves coming at us. they provided breakfast and lunch for our five hour snorkeling tour. the good part is that we were snorkeling at the very beginning of the trip so we spent the rest of our time enjoying the ride, alcoholic beverages and view. read more

During our first trip to Kauai, we toured the Napali Coast from on a charter that went into the caves and stopped for snorkeling. We thought that would be hard to beat. However, the Sunset Cruise was fantastic and our hosts, Emily and Bronson, made it even more special. The views were the best, especially with seeing the sunset behind the Forbidden Island. I surprised myself by standing on the deck while going through a waterfall, but it was one of the most exhilarating experiences you can have. We took a cruise for my birthday last week and what a pleasant experience it was! The crew really made you feel like you were one of the family, just embarking on an evening adventure to chase the sunset. I never felt like I was just some paying customer being schlepped out to some tourist trap. Drew was our captain and communicated with us well- letting us know when he was going to speed up, slow down, or when the water was going to be rough. He shared great knowledge of the coast and got us up close and personal with the sea caves. I cannot remember the name of both of our deck hands, Emily and another gentleman whom I believe was a fireman as well- but they were amazing!!! They made us feel at home, took AMAZING photos of us, and made sure we were safe! Thanks for a great adventure! Our group of four adults had an exceptionally enjoyable time on the Holo Holo charter boat trip from Pt. Allen to the Na Pali coast. The boat was in immaculate condition, and the captain and crew were excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff, and the narration of the sites along the water and coast line really enhanced the trip. We even saw whales breaching, and that was amazing. We were surprised how filling and tasty the dinner was, and the sunset champagne toast was a very nice touch. Please be advised that the trip from Pt. Allen to the coast is a bit of an "adventure ride", and was very fun. Prepare to get wet! The ride back is much calmer and slower. Jay, Jacob and Captain Glen were an amazing crew!!! From roll call to taking us back to the parking lot, their service was amazing! They were always all around the boat serving us, talking stories and giving us inside tips on where to eat if you've never been to Kauai. Captain Glen is very knowledgeable about the water and how it will affect the way the boat moves and they all give you good tips on how to prevent seasickness and how to help keep your balance when your standing. I just returned from Kauai and had to write a review for Holo Holo Charters. We had a blast on our snorkeling trip and with several other companies to choose from in Port Allen, I'm glad we went with them. We went on the 5 hour pm trip, which included a beautiful sunset on our trip home. The Na Pali coast is beautiful, and the crew was very friendly, accommodating, professional and knowledgeable. I never write Yelp reviews and this tour made me want to start. We originally booked the tour a few days ago during a storm. Originally we cancelled but decided to extend our trip one day to reschedule. Needless to say this is the #1 activity to book in kauai. Captain + Jake and Aaron totally make the trip an over the top experience. The captain was incredibly skilled and maneuvered us into some tight and breathtaking caves. Before you go: 1. Wear comfortable clothing. Don't worry about shoes. This is a barefoot cruise, trust them it's better that way. Very comfortable 2. Bring sunscreen and a hat. We chose captains hats. 3. Take double bonine. One an hour before. One when you get there. The ship is made on the island by the owner of the tour company. This is a perk because there is ample seating in every area. We were also the fastest ship on the water. Be aware Dolphin charters has deals with every hotel. Holo Holo is the way to go! The staff is amazing the food was a full on dinner and we never were thirsty. Beer, wine, Mai tais. Get ready for great views of napali, hump back wales, spinner dolphins, and a great staff. read more

Awesome cruise, crew and overall experience! We went on the Kauai Sunset Dinner Cruise @ 2 pm today with Captain Ian and his crew Ahren and Jason. My sister forgot to book another adult in our party but when we checked in, front desk added another person - good start. There were six of us in total and I had trepidation before this trip because I get seasick. But I prepared by taking Dramamine 1 hour before, having my sea bands and chewing ginger gum during the trip. In addition, I had ginger ale to drink on board (only had a little champagne on the way back) and followed the Captain's instructions! We did not expect to see whales or dolphins just the Na Pali coast and sunset but seeing almost 10 whales on the way and a school of Dolphins on the way back were indeed a plus! The cruise was very well-organized from their drinks, super - clean bathrooms, appetizers, tuna and kahlua pork sliders for early dinner and chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The sunset was breathtaking towards the end. The Captain narrated some Hawaiian history and info about the whales. Ahren and Jason were very attentive with all the guests serving them food, checking on those who might not be feeling well - there were a couple who experienced seasickness and offering to take your pictures, etc. The trip met 100% of my expectations and best of all, I did not get sick despite the big swells. Best boat trip ever - thanks to Captain Ian and his experienced crew for a wonderful and memorable cruise. This cruise is highly recommended when you visit Kauai!!! read more

We had an amazing Sunset cruise with Holo Holo. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the food was surprisingly good. It helped that we lucked out with a picture perfect day on the Napali coast, but it would have been great either way. read more

We went on the sunset cruise of the Napali coast and wow it was amazing. It was a large catamaran but be warned it gets pretty rocky. Definitely saw a few people getting sick. The staff on this trip was amazing. They would deliver you drinks and food so you wouldn't loose your seat! They also attended to the people who got sea sick! The views were incredible which alone makes it worth the money but add unlimited drinks and dinner and it's well worth it. read more
