My father's ophthalmologist was in Hyannis. He spoke highly of the doctor so I called his office and asked for an appointment to get an eye exam. The doctor was not taking any new patients, because he was retiring. He told me to see Dr. Bodrie in Sagamore, closer to where I was staying. Dr. Bodrie is great. I have gone to him for several years and have only the best to say about him. My eyes have had some concerns, not every day problems. He has diagnosed the issues I have had over the years and we got them fixed. Today, my sight is fine, and in so many ways it is due to Dr. Bodrie.

He is always diligent in answering any questions you may have and making sure all of your concerns are addressed before moving forward. Scheduling is generally pretty easy and he is hardly ever running behind so wait time is minimal. While my experience with the Dr. has been extremely pleasant, I struggle to say the same for the interactions with his office staff. Each time I call or visit the office, I always leave feeling argumentative and defensive after conversing with the office. I called prior to an appointment explaining I was 10 minutes behind schedule as a meeting with a client ran late. I was rudely informed that "young people have no respect for anyone" and that I was rude to waste her time and keep her waiting. I was prepared to reschedule my appointment if needed, and was attempting to politely explain an unavoidable issue and was offended she would say I was wasting HER time. It was the Dr's schedule I had inconvenienced! When my dog chewed the arm of my new frames, I visited the office to see about sending them out for repair. I was rudely told that I should keep my dog away from my glasses and that they couldn't be repaired, I would have to purchase new ones. End of discussion. I looked up the manufacturer online, sent them out, and they repaired them at no charge aside from shipping and handling. Lastly, I ordered a new pair of frames online and called to verify my prescription. I was told that I didn't need to get it over the phone, and it would be sent to me because I would need a paper prescription anyway before I could order. False. I confirmed I did not need the prescript, could just enter online - and she laughed as she read it off to me. She said it was a waste of her time as it wasn't going to process. Weird. Wearing the new frames as we speak. While I love the doctor, I find his office support to be exhausting. There is no need for the misery around simple office procedure. Get it together, ladies.

Took my client for cataract surgery today & the wait room for the ppl needing surgery was standing…read morerm only! Very small area & def not enough chairs! I stood while my client naturally sat. Intake at desk was pleasant enough & done in timely manner. But once you're in there, your time means little to them. I was told it would be about 2 1/4 hrs, which gave me time to get to my clients spouse to be of use there. Things went south from there, as I rushed to get back by the 2 1/4 mark, despite not getting a call. It was about a 40 min drive, so the 15 min ahead of time call, would not have helped someone that far away. I get back there after my rush, only to be told she's not ready & they'll call. I waited a while, back to the desk & asked if I had time to go to get coffee. No prob. Gone around 1/2 hr. Told again she's fine, just not ready yet. It's now well over the 2 1/4 hrs I was told it would be. By the time she was finally out, it was 4 hrs 40 min! HELLO? I was told, it's surgery....nothing is guaranteed to be on schedule. Even my client felt rushed to get out, once she was in recovery. We both had questions, but were told there was a sheet we could read on the post op at home. The nurse just kept moving her OUT. She said it was like a cattle ranch w/all the commotion & being rushed away & out, once they were done w/her. So, it's OK for them to tie you up all day long & have you miss another appt, b/c you were under the impression you'd be out in plenty of time...But it's not OK for you to question anything. Follow up is tomorrow. Supposed to be a quicky in another office location for the Dr. I'm not counting on anything quick, or timely w/them. Oh, they have a sign warning ppl not to verbally abuse their staff in any way...It will be a costly mistake. Apparently they've had unhappy patients who voiced their displeasure in the past. If the follow up is anything like this colossal time guzzler today, I'll be back. ;)

In the interests of full disclosure, I've had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Paul Botelho personally,…read moreso when it came time for cataract surgery last year, he was the natural choice. Lest you think it's only due to personal relationship, Paul is also an instructor at Brown. Who better to perform eye surgery? That said, the overall experience was very positive, from scheduling to the exam process, then surgery, then billing question follow up. The actual surgery is done in batches, almost assembly-line styler. That may sound negative, but the staff was very attentive to all patients' personal needs and kept the process extremely organized so my mind was at ease knowing I was in good hands. Kudos to all the staff for a job well done! This office is highly recommended.

I have been looking for a good eye doctor for some time now. After visiting a few (and regretting…read moreit) I decided to give Advanced Eye Centers a call. I used to see one of the founding doctors years ago when I was young, as I've had eye issues all of my life. It was easy to schedule my appointment as I was still in their system after what had to be 8 or 12 years! They went over my insurance with me and explained what I'd be expected to pay at my first visit. I was able to get an appointment scheduled about two weeks out, but that was partly because my own work schedule is busy! I arrived about 10 minutes early and completed some simple paperwork. I was the only one in the waiting room and right on time was greeted by Dr. Michaud, an OD at the practice. My exam was thorough but quick, which was really great as I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I was able to get a pair of contacts in my new prescription to wear home and ordered a few months worth to be delivered to my house - super convenient. Check out was simple and easy. They do have an optical shop on premises which is convenient, but I chose to keep my old frames and they do charge a fee on top of the lense replacement charge if you aren't purchasing new ones through them. I elected to shop around for prices, so I didn't spend too much time in the shop. The doctor and staff were friendly and helpful and the practice was very clean. I had a great experience and will continue to visit them in the future.
