Having moved to the area recently, I reached out to this office, as it was located within LensCrafters, a custom I'm familiar with off-Cape. Since it was my primary visit with this practice, they took close a look at my retina and macula with an advanced Nikon mapping device, which avoided the need for eye dilation drops. They now have a history they can refer to during my next visit. The Dr. was patient with the process of optimizing my prescription. Although I haven't received my new glasses yet, I have confidence the prescription will be a welcome fine-tuning for these next few years. I would return to and recommend Dr. McQueen's practice for a very thorough exam and prescription.

Initially I went to him a few years ago because I needed a new glasses prescription and his office was convenient at the time. I continue to visit him because I like the very thorough exam I receive from his friendly technician and him, the up-to-date equipment in his office (no dilated eyes!) including a magic laser exam that shows everything going on in your eyes! His office is located within the Lenscrafters at the euphemistically named "Festival Mall" right on Iyannough Road in Hyannis. You won't see the (strip) Mall from the street, and the office is at the entrance next to the Pier One, so plenty of close parking most days. What keeps me from giving 5-stars is the check in procedure, where the staff person recited my name, phone and full address loudly enough for another waiting patient to sit up and take notice, only to greet me by name when I sat down to wait. I would expect that while HIPPA rules may not apply to an eye exam, simple common sense would, and the staff could minimize the privacy invasion. Otherwise, pretty simple and polite check in and out. My appt time was 9am however I work at the hospital and because of problems on getting out on time it's definitely my fault. But I did not deserve the punishment for the crime ! I walked in at 9:17am. Waited a few minutes for another customer at the desk. Gave my name and attendant screeched that I was a no show (hello I'm here)- and I could never. Ever go there again. Holly, at the front desk, was super friendly and helpful. She did a great job of making me feel comfortable and welcome -- explaining everything as we went. Dr. Waterbury was also very kind, knowledgeable, and funny. I've had glasses since I was in kindergarten...and am 30 now (so you can imagine the amount of doctors I've visited). Dr. Waterbury is the most thorough (and youngest, ha!) eye doctor I've been to -- he gave his professional opinions and had legitimate reasons backing them up...all the while cracking jokes in between. Just got in the Veterans's Administration and one of their benefits to veterans is eyeglasses. My first pair of glasses arrived by mail and needed some minor adjustments for fit. I'm not good at bending titanium so I went to Downing's for adjustments. They could not have been nIcer. Made the adjustments. Would not let me pay them for their time. I had been with the father for 40 years. He retired and the son took over. I got my glasses there…read moreand 3 months later the ear piece wasn't moving. I went in and barbara, the optician told me i would have to pay for a new ear piece. This, after not even trying to fix them. I was shocked as i thought i had a1 year warranty. She was quite nasty. A month later The dr sent me a letter saying i was no longer welcome there. he never even asked ME what transpired! I dro v e to his other location in harwich. The girl there took my glasses and ran them under hot water. Fixed!! The problem was hairspray!! Lucky me. i switched to OCB and it was the best thing i ever did. Dr Puzio was so wrong on so many things he did for me. Cataract surgery for example. he said i wasn't ready. OCB asked why i waited so long and did it immediately. And i could see well again!
