The family barn, much loved but mostly unused needed repair. We found
Holmes on the web. We wanted a contractor with liability insurance and
he gave me documentation regarding his insurance. We had paid over $4300 which he cashed immediate . Waiting for him to begin work we were very disturbed when he sent via email not only the contract but a letter sent to him from a District Attorney in Wisconsin. When one receives a document by email one reads it all and this one made us go back and check the insurance . It was a quote not a policy and he never took out that policy. It was also an altered quote over two years old. That alone prompted us to cancel the contract and as no work had been done, no materials delivered , no special materials ordered we expected a refund. It is very easy now to run a check on individuals and get a heads up but we had not. We feel very stupid but I am not the first as the court access information proves. The work on the barn did get done by another contractor for substantially less money.
Pretty prose and good intentions are fine on the web but they don't fix a barn and the old adage paper doesn't refuse ink applies to his site. read more
