I have been several different salons, this is the worst experience I have ever had. My shellac nails look fine, but the experience was awful. First, the television blared throughout my visit. Judge Judy, no less. The woman who did my nails had her two teenaged daughters sitting at the nail tech table right next to me. They were appropriate teenagers doing homework and talking, but not something one expects in a salon. The nail tech took two phone calls while doing my nails. Yes, she was giving me a french manicure with her iphone on her shoulder talking rapidly on the phone. She took two phone calls while continuing to work on my nails. If I hadn't been to the point of no return I would have walked out then. I love going to the nail salon as a treat. The prices are the same as other salons in the area, so it's not like you get a cut rate if you go there. I needed to get my nails done quickly, so I appreciated them taking me in as a walk-in, but it's the first and last time I will ever go there. Very unprofessional. They now accept credit/debit cards, however they charge a $1 if you use your card. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. If there was a zero star rating, I would have chosen that. I have had multiple negative experiences here, but have given them the benefit of the doubt each time since they can be quite busy. This time, I had enough. Firstly, if you ever make an appointment, know that it means nothing to them since I have made plenty, and still had to wait when I came in. Once waited more than an hour for a pedicure I made an appointment for. Secondly, regardless of if you came in first, you will still probably be served according to their convenience, ie. some employees are on their phone waiting for better customers. I had come in to do a simple brow wax, which typically takes ten minutes at most. Came in, two other people in the store getting their nails done with three people serving these two customers. Another employee was simply sitting on one of the pedicure chairs. I came in, asked for a brow wax and sat down. Gave it 10 minutes, still no word from any of the employees, including the one doing nothing. Another 5 minutes and a customer came in with her daughter for their nails, and were promptly seated and their services started. I walked to the counter and asked how long I had to wait, and was given the most arbitrary "I'll fit you in between, a few minutes". I asked "How long is a few minutes? 5 minutes, 10 minutes ?", and was replied with "How about you come back later" after having sat for 15 minutes with no info whatsoever as to wait time, incapable of even giving an estimate. I believe the owner's name is Jenny, whom I have dealt with many times. I'm sure many have experienced her condescending tone and general rudeness to her customers, specifically those that aren't her regulars. It would be one thing if the services were exceptional and the cost was reasonable, but the prices here have gone up almost every year, for the past three years, with absolutely zero increase in quality of services. There has been no change in customer service or anything of that such since all the comments here have been made from how many years ago. Overall, I will never visit this establishment again, and hope it will not remain for much longer. read more

This was the first time i got my nails done here and I didn't really have a great experience. I wanted my nails pretty long but when they were trying to measure out where i wanted them they already cut it before i actually said yes. I specifically asked for coffin nails from the first person who was helping me out, then they switched me to another person and they didn't bother to do the shape i wanted, just what they thought looked best. I enjoyed my manicure. I got a standard full set with tips and acrylic and I have to say, he ( the owner, not sure of his name) did the best job shaping them exactly like I told him. Anywhere else they don't do exactly like I want. He put a some sort of gel on top of the acrylic instead of clear nail polish, and I'm not sure I like it yet, it's not as shiny and feels a little rubbery. As someone who enjoys getting their nails done, I was desperate to find a place up in Pullman where I go to school. I've given this place a couple shots, but have been fairly disappointed, particularly the second time. I went in today and was seated quickly, which was nice. All I needed was a fill, which I paid $30 for last time (thought this was a little much compared to what I've paid at other salons, but given that there are limited salons in Pullman, I figured I could deal). The lady who did my nails was pretty cold with me, didn't talk to me whatsoever, and seemed irritated that I asked if I could look at their color selections because I wasn't sure what I wanted. She made my finger bleed on a couple of occasions and didn't seem very apologetic about it, or like she even noticed. Additionally, her station looked like she hadn't cleaned it up from her previous client, which put me on edge, since cleanliness should be top priority at places such as these. Finally, when I went to pay, she told me $32, which I was confused it was $2 more than last time (for the same service), but figured it wasn't a huge deal. She then told me $33 when I handed her my two twenty dollar bills, and only gave me a $5 in return, then said, "just kidding, I meant $35." She glanced at me and looked like she expected a tip, so I told her to just keep the change, since my nails didn't look bad. Perhaps I was under-charged the first time I visited, but nonetheless, the employees here need to charge their clients the same no matter what, and also need to realize sometimes it's not all about the profit you make, you need to treat your guests with respect to keep them coming back. Extremely, extremely disappointed. I went in at 10:15 am and asked if they had time for a pedicure. They said yes and had me sit in a pedicure chair. I waited 30 minutes, and then they put in warm water. After another 25 minutes, I asked how long it would be as I had to leave at 11:40 at the latest. They said I would be next. At this point, I was sitting in cold water. They then started at 11:20, so it was a quick, but decent pedicure. Definitely not worth an hour+ wait. hen I went to pay, I gave them a credit card and was told, "Please go take out money from the ATM" (which they have in their store). I asked why they had credit card symbols on their door if they don't take credit cards and was told they stopped taking them a month ago but didn't take down the signs. In addition to all of this, when another girl came in, they had her sit in the seat next to me and put in water for her to soak in. However, when I arrived, someone else had been sitting there, and it was not cleaned in between. Not going here again! read more

Trying very hard to find at least one good thing to say, but I cannot find any! I have never been to a worst nail salon and I have been to some bad ones believe me. Top word to use for this place is disgusting. Everything was so gross, from all the tools to the tables where they work on your nails. We started by being told to sit and pick a color and they would be right with us. After waiting over an hour and being told to move where we were sitting and sit somewhere else five times we finally were helped. The person who worked on mine and my friends nails was named Jenny. She was incredibly rude and seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. She rushed through my friends nails and missed a bunch so it looked like when my four year old niece does my nails. (Keep in mind this is after my friend pointed out missed spots and asked her if she could fix them) then she went on to mine and never asked me the size or shape I want for my acrylics and just did whatever not trimming them at all. When I asked if they could be a little shorter she got pissed and told me I should have said that before she started. After rushing and not letting the coats dry between steps I received my horrible nails that I will now fix at home scared to say anything else about them. Then finding out they are cash only and have to pull out money charging 8% at the atm they have in their store. Worst experience ever. DO NOT GO HERE!! I would NEVER recommend this salon! I too was there for WSU Mom's Weekend 2015 and was the victim of blatant price gouging. What should have been a relaxing mani-pedi hour with my daughter, ended up a 40 minute $110 rip off. What probably should be reported was the "manicurist" who pushed back my daughters cuticles with HER NAIL! I will do everything I can to dissuade anyone from going there. I think it all depends on who you get at Hollywood nails.... If you get the lady then great, have a nice day. If you get the guy, turn around and walk out the door. He was a total jerk to me, refused to help pick a color that matched the photo I showed of what I wanted, tried to up-sale to gel polish 5x even though I clearly said no, huffed and yelled at me to pay because he wanted money before applying polish (I have a hard time hearing people normally and then with music, a mask that muffled his already quiet voice and everything in the background made it impossible to hear). Then I questioned why he didn't add sparkles to a nail when the picture I showed clearly had a sparkle nail, he proceeded to yell at me in front of everyone that I should have picked out sparkle color earlier when he said to pick a polish. He then refused to listen to me in that I wanted subtle sparkle and kept picking out the same awful glitter polishes and continued yelling at me. Finally a lady (possibly the owner???) came over and made him help someone else while she helped find a glitter that fit what I was looking for. I just went with my two best friends for the European Spa pedicure. The clipping, painting and buffing all went fine. My gal was rushing and barely used the hot stones. She finished a good 10 mins ahead of my friends and ran off to start a manicure. I thought after doing the paraffin she would return to finish the massage as the sign states paraffin drip and extra massage for the high price. She never returned, I finally asked to get a pair of slippers from another attendant. I asked to speak to the owner and was pointed to a male. When I said none of us were massaged for the European, he said he didn't do it and he wasn't the owner, basically it wasn't his problem. My mother and I decided to get a pedicure for a treat during Mothers Weekend. We rarely get a pedicure and were horrified by the service provided. We had an appointment and were not seated for an hour and ten minutes after our time, and then watched walk-in's be seated before us. My mother had to ask to get her nails evened out and then filed to make them even. She also had to ask for a base coat and they said they didn't want to do a base coat, but you always do a base coat. Also they did not do anything to her feet, spent less that 15 minutes on her pedicure, and then messed up the nails and left polish all over her toes. She is someone who notices details and and had to ask for everything basic like to have the polish removed from her skin.They did a polish change on us and then proceeded to charge us for the full pedicure! I am beyond disappointed and horrified at how unprofessional they were, both at their pedicure and the way the business is run. I would defiantly not suggest anyone go there. read more

This was my first time here and I loved it! They got us in right away and I got a shellac manicure in about 20 minutes. My friend got acrylics in about 30 minutes. They were pretty busy but didn't rush the nails to get us out of here. The nail techs were really friendly and accommodating! Worst nail job ever! I just moved to pullman and has previously had acrylic nails with gel polish on top and they were beautiful, and I've had them for months. When I came here the workers were kinda rude, and didnt even come up to me when I walked in just yelled across the store. The TV was on the whole time playing a football game, and there were multiple ladies drinking and eating and screaming the whole time I was waiting/getting my nails done. The person that was doing my nails looked like she knew what she was doing, and when I left I was surprisingly okay with the job she did. Until the next day. My gel polish started chipping and peeling, and 3 days later, the acrylic started lifting and I just got frustrated and took all of my nails off. Now my nails look horrible, and I really need to get them done again, but would never consider going here again. read more

I usually go to Jenny who is great. But the last time I went in a new girl helped me. I was getting a shellac pedicure and still has shellac on. Usually they sand down the polish and use acetone to remove the gel. Instead they used a tool to rip off the polish, removing my nails in the process. My regular nail place was way too busy for a mani/pedi so I decided to give Hollywood Nails a shot, even with mainly negative reviews. When I got there I was told that the wait "wasn't that long." I waited for about 10 minutes before they told me which pedicure chair to sit it. I then waited another 45 minutes for them to start my pedicure. At least I got to sit in the massage chair for those 45 minutes. After explaining that I don't like to do gel, I kept being asked why I wasn't doing gel on my toes and my fingers. My pedicure was super quick and I still have rough spots on my heels that could easily been buffed away. They forgot that I wanted a manicure too. Once they remembered, my manicure was also very fast and very poorly done. I asked them not to cut my nails too much because the length is just were I like them, but they cut them anyway and now my nails are really short. Less than 18 hours later and my fingers are already chipping. I basically feel like I paid $50 for someone to paint my nails, which I am going to have to redo soon anyway. I just wish there was a quality, not overly priced nail salon somewhere on the Palouse, but after living here for three years, I still haven't found one. read more

I had a decent experience here getting my full set of acrylics, but when I went back for a fill, everything went wrong. My appointment was delayed 30 mins because they had taken a bunch of walk-ins. I asked to reschedule because I had another appointment to get to, but they insisted I wait and that they would do my fill very quickly. He did do a very quick fill, but refused to trim my tips because it would take too long, and I was "in a hurry" (yeah, because they were 30 mins late). The main point of me having the fill was because my nails were too long! However, he still refused to trim them, and did the fill without a trim (charging full price for a fill of course). Then he sent me to a different station to get my polish (I always get just a clear coat), and the lady at that station started doing gel nails on me, without asking! I hadn't asked for gels, and really didn't want them, but she had already done two nails before I could communicate this, so it was too late. They of course charged me for the unwanted gels. She also spent the whole gel nail process (which ended up making me late for my next appointment) insulting my eyebrows, trying to sell me their waxing services, which I repeatedly refused. I had already decided to never go back there after his initial refusal to trim my nails. Then I woke up 3 days later with a raging staph infection in the cuticle on my right ring finger. Sure enough, when I thought back on it, they hadn't done one thing to clean their instruments when they rushed to do my "quick fill" after finishing the walk-in that bumped my appointment. Appalling service, significant health & safety issues, adding on and charging for unwanted services without consent, this place is terrible! read more

Been in here twice, the first time I got awesome service. I told them I didn't have much time and I needed a fill. They got me in and finished within 40 minutes, a young guy did my nails. I loved it. I've been praising them ever since, and I work at the local Walmart and see hundreds of customers daily, and a good portion ask where I got them done. I went in earlier today, after calling and asking if they had time, and told them when I would be in. I arrived exactly when I said I was (12:20 pm), and ended up sitting in a chair for over 20 minutes waiting. They finally started my nails around 12:50, and at 1:27 the young man that had been doing my nails rushed out the door and left them unfinished. I had to wait for a lady who arrived about 10 minutes after I did initially to get her nails finished before I could go home. I was not told that I would be paying extra for this gel polish they put on my nails, and my original 20$ fill quickly turned into $30, and it's not even the color, nor the shape that I like. They lack consistency. The nails don't look bad, but its not what I wanted. Yes this is Pullman, and sometimes "beggars cant be choosers" but I don't mind driving to Spokane, Lewiston, Clarkston, or even Lee's over in Moscow (which I don't like going to anymore either..) to get my nails done. They need consistency. I'm all for supporting the locals, but they need to show me the same respect I show them. Paying in my opinion an outrageous amount for a fill that I could have gotten in the mid west (Texas/Illinois/etc) for less than $20 is a bit ridiculous, this is a college town! read more

I was not impressed with Hollywood Nails. A friend and I had previously booked an appointment for a pedicure. We arrived at the appointed time, was greeted, and was told which chair to sit in. That's were the ridiculously long wait began. While sitting in the chair we waited for a half an hour before they finally filled them with less than luke warm water and turned on the jets. Another half an hour went by, as the water ran cold, and our pedicures had not been started. Needless to say, we walked out. I was very dissatisfied and will never go back to them again. read more

Our family just moved to town, so I decided to find a good nail salon for a good pedicure. We moved from the Southeast region of the U.S., so I assumed the service in the Pacific NW would be about the same in terms of service and pricing. I read the reviews on yelp prior to visiting, but decided to try Hollywood Nails anyway so that I could personally experience, up-front whether this salon was worth my dollars. For starters, I set a 5:00pm appointment and was not seen until 6:15pm. I was told to sit at the salon spa/chair w/my feet soaking for 40 mins before I was seen. Not good. After waiting 40 mins, a young college student who had Downs Syndrome walked in with her mother and was immediately seen for her 5:30pm apt (she was even 10-min late for her apt). The nail tech immediately began working on the young lady, completely ignoring me sitting there 40 mins before the young lady walked in. No apologies, no explanation provided at all. Sorry about the young lady's condition, but its quite impolite to leave a NEW customer, with a set appt, waiting w/no explanation. Second, the hygiene provided was NOT good. A reviewer previously stated something about the nail tech not being clean when performing her nails. Well, . . . As soon as the Downs Syndrome client left, I was then serviced. However, about 15 mins into the pedicure, I realized something terribly wrong. . . . the nail teach who serviced the former Downs Syndrome client never cleaned her instruments! I realized that this nail tech put all the instruments on her cart when finished w/the Downs lady, then wheel the cart over to my spa chair and begin working my feet. SHE USED THE SAME INSTRUMENTS on both of us!! I looked carefully into her cart and saw NONE of the blue cleaning agent that all salons put their used instruments in after each use. In fact, I sat there thinking real hard about whether this nail tech even cleaned the instruments from the client she serviced BEFORE the Down Syndrome client, and I specifically recall only seeing the nail tech wheel that same cart from the former client, over to the Down Syndrome client, then wheel the same cart over to my chair!! Very, very bad. I was grossed out, but at that point there was nothing I could do. If anyone had anything to spread, then I was already exposed. Third, the pedicure performed by the tech was mediocre at best. You could tell that she was so tired from back-to-back people getting pedicures, that she rushed through my pedicure very rapidly. The leg massage was NOTHING to write home about, and she even forgot to put on a clear coat of polish after laying on the original color. When she completed brushing the color on, she stood up, said "thank you for coming today," then literally left me there on the spa chair w/the foam nail separators still in my toes w/feet still hanging on the spa foot rest. Oh, one last thing, the Owner does not like to take bank cards or credit cards. Very, very inconvenient for customers. I heard her explaining to another customer that they have to charge clients for the privilege of using cards. Very UNcustomer friendly. Two good things - the massage did include one highlight, which was the pumice stone foot rub. Felt really good. Never had that before. Also, the nail techs were very, very nice. In fact, all the workers were nice, which makes me feel a wee bit bad about writing this message. Honest review. Nothing more, nothing less. My family will not attend this salon again. They moved to Pullman from the west side and stay very up to date on current techniques and trends, meaning they do nails very well. I do however have a few complaints-- during my pedicure one of the woman's daughter, who was about 7 years old, wouldnt leave me alone. Then, when they moved me to do my nails I had to sit in front of the woman and wait while she ate and fed lunch to her kid, who was really messy and loud... it grossed me out. Super unprofessional. However, she gave me a french manicure using the shellac gel polish which turned out beautifully and has lasted a very long time. It ended up costing much more than I thought it would, so I would adivse anyone who goes there to double check prices of things before getting services or they could screw you with prices. I'll get straight to the point, this place is far overpriced for the quality of work they give you. I went in with a friend for a gell manicure and was highly disappointed with what I received, whilst my friend was completely satisfied with hers. I proceeded to explain my dissatisfaction with the manicurist and she brushed off my concern, explaining, "this is how we do it here". Another manicurist comes over to me to offer to help fix it. All he ends up doing is reshaping my nails when part of my concern was the inconsistency of the color. A third manicurist comes over, Jenny Lee, and says to me, "Don't worry, I'll fix it and make you happy." She then files my nails to the point that they hurt, and then fixes the color. Or attempts to. When I ask why she is doing something, she tells me repeatedly to be quiet, tells me that I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't work in the nail industry despite the fact that I get my nails done regularly, and then calls my nail beds shitty. When I finally get up to pay, I ask for $10 out of the $40 I gave her because I wasn't about to leave this place any sort of tip, she then gives me a dirty look. I then explain how places like nail salons, bars, etc. have to be consistent in terms of quality among their employees. You don't want to go to a bar with a friend, order the same drink, have two bartenders make them, and one be on point and the other be repulsive. The last thing Jenny said to me was that I needed to change my shitty attitude or I won't get anywhere in life. I truly wish I had walked out without paying because the customer service I was given was borderline abusive. I may have been a bit difficult with the employees, but if I hadn't, they surly would've taken even more advantage of me. They do a good job for gel manicures, but they always seemed to be rushed, even when they aren't busy. They don't take their time with the massage and everything else that comes with a full manicure or full pedicure for the amount they charge you. There is no zero for rating, so I had to choose one star. I called approximately 2 hours before making an early evening appointment for manicure and pedicure. I called and the gentleman taking the booking accepted my requested time, although he asked whether I can come earlier. Recognizing that they close at 8PM, I said to him that I will try, but it's unlikely because I planned on taking someone who will be newly arriving from out of town. About an hour after making the appointment I got word that the person I planned on taking was delayed. I called again to cancel, since I know they would have a hard time finishing both manicure and pedicure before their closing time. The woman who answered the call was not happy I canceled and said, "You have to cancel 24 hours before!" to which I replied, "I only made the appointment an hour ago and I can't make the appointment, because the person I'm taking will not be in town by then." Hearing me getting annoyed, the woman proceeded to say, "Ah okay, I can accept your explanation. I was just kidding." Unfortunately, there was no sense of joking around in her verbal delivery and I simply hung up. If Hollywood Nails customer service on the phone is any gauge of their in-store service, then I would go elsewhere for my mani and pedi's. I won't even bother to make a second try. read more

This is the worst nail experience that I have ever had. My daughter gets her nails done twice a month when she's at home so I figured since I was in town visiting I would take her to get them done. The people here are rude and mark up their prices as soon as they finish doing your nails. We are both appalled with our experience here and would not recommend Hollywood nails and spa to anyone!
