This is an amazing place! They love the pets and dogs that come in, and they always give my dog a bag of treats every time she comes. They always have amazing deals on dog food and other items. And they have excellent customer service, me and my dog Luna always feel welcomed when we come in. One day I went in to look at different dog foods because my dog had an allergy and Maddi a worker there was such an amazing help, she knew everything!! I'm no stranger to pet stores, local or chain, boutique or not. To me, PetPeople is like a mixture of all those and here's why... * Boutique-y: They have tons of natural, organic, hard-to-find items you won't see at places like Petco or Petsmart. They have all kinds of natural proteins and animal parts for gnawing--some I never knew existed! They also carry a lot of lesser-known, boutique-like brands that come with a heftier price tag. You definitely feel like you're getting quality, healthier merchandise here. Just know that you'll pay for that feeling with your wallet. *Big Box-y: The layout, size and mass selection of the store definitely reminds me more of a pet mega-store rather than a local boutique. However, this is a regional chain. I just wish they have the deals of a big, old pet store. They do offer a rewards program--but I heard three people in line before me complain about it, which I found rather strange. *Local Brick-n-Mortar: I've been to plenty of these around the CLE+ area and PetPeople definitely has the helpful staff of a local shop, without the overly-hippie vibe. I mean, my dog likes meat. Is that a crime? Haha. Where they don't remind me of the local shops is again, in the price tag. I've been to at least 4 other local shops that have better prices on the same merch. Overall I just can't see myself going out of my way to shop for my pup here. The two times I have bought things have resulted in immediate self-kicks when I see the same things at other stores and shops for much cheaper. But that's not to say that I wouldn't stop by if I were around Rocky River--their selection definitely makes up for some short-comings. read more

From my own personal experience, Pet People staff provided great customer service and are very knowledgeable about their products that they sell and they give awesome recommendations that is best for my dog needs. My dog loves the staff here! Every time we bring her to the store, they make a big fuss over her (she loves the attention), and give her treats! We buy the Frohmm dog food, and we get every 13th bag for free. And, the staff is very knowledgeable about their products. :-) read more

Petpeople is part of a regional chain of pet stores that has more of the organic/natural slant to their inventory - at least with respect to the food section. Everything you need for your dog or cat is here, without any of that shiny floor WalMart feel that the other big chains have. Your pooch will likely get a treat from the extremely friendly and pet-loving staff. But they'll ask you if it's ok first, which although my Stanley has an iron gut and is really capable and allowed to eat anything at all, I appreciate the question. They've got a large selection of crates, beds, cat tower thingies and toys, as well as a very large section of natural treats and chews (deer/elk antlers, bully sticks, bones, rawhides, etc). Join their rewards program for periodic $5 coupons in the mail along with a free pound of biscuits from their bulk biscuit wall. Definitely recommend this friendly, well-stocked store for your everyday and spoiling-day pet needs. read more

Not a ton to say because I love this place. I always leave in a good mood because the staff is probably the friendliest bunch of retail employees on earth. They must give them hourly shots of B12 or something. Seriously. Their prices on guinea pig food and bedding is competitive enough -- I don't break the bank every time little Henry needs some hay. And speaking of timothy hay, they sell Oxbow brand (phenom!). AND, they consistently sell GREEN Oxbow brand timothy hay. I can't tell you how many other stores out there keep this hay on their shelf for so long it starts to get brown and rotten. Petpeople must really know how to manage their product orders. But it's not just great for guinea pigs. They have a lot of doggie playthings and accessories to choose from, too. And I assume kitty things as well. I don't pay as much attention to that stuff because I don't usually buy the food for the dog at my house. From what I have noticed, there seems to be a lot of organic/natural options, which tends to get more expensive. But don't discount this store because I don't pay attention. Even the service you get makes it worth a little extra money. And I like that they sell "Chewguard Technology" toys. Our dog loves those. They also have a rewards program, which truthfully hasn't gotten me as many discounts as some other stores like PetSmart -- but I did get a coupon in my email last week for a whole free pound of dog biscuits. No purchase necessary. Killer. But I'll pay more attention next time I go, I swear, and then I can update this review with all the positive dog/cat/bird things I find out. Wow, I guess I really did have a ton to say. Whoops. Anyway. Go to Petpeople! I'm there every week. read more

I really like this pet store-- although it's a bit on the pricey side. They carry top-tier dog food brands such as Orijen and Earthborn Holistic which you can't find at the other chain pet stores. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I had my dogs in the car once and I was picking out a few treats for a day trip we were taking from their bulk selection treats and the lady assisting me didn't even charge for them. The people who work here are the friendliest and most knowledgable you'll find in a pet food store. They'll love your dog and help you with anything you need.they helped us puck out new, healthy food for our dog, and fitted her for a new walking harness. They also told us that if the harness didn't work for us, we could bring it back and exchange it for one that better suited our needs. The food prices are comparable to what you pay at PetCo or Pet Supplies Plus, but the quality is a lot better. Plus they offer a discount on cases of cat food and have a rewards program. I recommend Pet People to everyone I know who has fuzzy babies. It's a great store read more

Great experience. I actually popped in looking for bird food and they didn't have any. I decided I needed some cat litter so I picked up a box. The guy working there was very pleasant. The store is extremely neat and clean. And the guy even offered to carry the box of cat litter out to my car. Loved that. I will go back. read more

Well, as promised, my dog food update: The Fromm Gold is amazing. My sweet girl is no longer scratching like a maniac, and her coat is even prettier than before. I've completely removed corn and grains from her diet. She does not eat as much, as the protein fills her up more. Compassionate, knowledgeable, and sincere customer service. Had to locate pumpkin for my beloved, frail, and frankly, failing, fourteen year old pup. Emily was extremely helpful and kind when providing answers to questions I had about the product. I also overheard another employee attending to a patron who also mentioned that his older dog was doing poorly. The employee explained what types of food would be easiest on the dog's system and also recommended probiotics. Meanwhile, a day after starting to integrate the pumpkin in to my dog's regular food, she was doing better than she'd been in the last month - practically her pre-illness self. Knowing that the store is close by is nice given our location, but knowing that knowledgeable, caring staff are available is priceless. Highly recommend. read more

I LOVE this store. I'm a first time cat mom and the employees here have been incredibly helpful every time i've gone in. What a great place! We had been shopping at the deplorable Lakewood location of Pet Supplies Plus, and finally couldn't stand it anymore, mainly due to the conditions the animals to be sold and adopted there are kept in. We drove a bit farther, and checked out Pet People across the bridge in Rocky River. THEY DON'T SELL ANIMALS THERE! That's a wonderful thing. Another great thing is that they have a wide selection of the foods our cats love at better prices, as well as litter, bedding, and toys and furnishings for cats and dogs. The people there actually care about animals and are helpful and knowledgeable, too. PetPeople will now be our regular store for pet supplies and food. Yeah, we have to go farther from home, but it's well worth it! read more

This is one of my favorite stores--not just my favorite pet store, favorite store of any kind. The staff knows what they are doing. They are very accommodating. I love going there--and so does my dog. The discovery of dog toys that squeak so that dogs hear them, but people do not hear them, was the find of the century. They always brighten my day. read more

I started shopping at this great store last year until they opened one closer to where I live on the east side. Now there is one close to work and home. The store in Rocky River is clean and small and the people working there are really friendly and know what they are talking about on pet food. read more
