You can always find what you need at a low price at the Ridge Rd Pet Supplies Plus store. Staff are super friendly and always helpful. They do offer curbside pickup and can have your order ready and waiting. Also, try their amazing dog wash and make and appointment with their Groomer while you're their. read more

I just wanted to give an update on this location and my experience here... My one dog seemed to be ok after 2 weeks but my other dog continued to be petrified of his name and random strangers for a good month. The people that work for this company contacted me once to hear about my situation and get an email from me so we could stay in contact and figure out what truly happened behind closed doors. And that was the last I've ever heard from them. When they first contacted me, I thought oh good they are willing to help me figure out what happened to my dogs! Boy was I wrong! These people seem to put up an act that they care about their customers and their furry friends or family but they don't. I'm not speaking for all Pet supplies locations but this one in particular only cares about making enough money to keep their location open. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you truly care about your pets then do yourself a favor and save them the trouble and hurt. I am just outraged by this place! read more

I was very hesitant to shop here for my two new rescue dogs as their Yelp review rating is very very low. Nevertheless that was not my experience. This is the best pet store experience I ever had. The Brooklyn ( Ridge Park) store has really stepped up their game in the past few years. They are very helpful. There is a young man named Kyle that has helped me probably 3-5 times in the past. He is so nice, knowledgeable, and professional. I would like to think all are like him but their not. I've been fortunate enough to be in when he's been working. Tried to order cat food online to be delivered, it rejected my card. Tried again with a different card, also rejected. (Have used both cards often in the past week with no problem.) Go to the website, the "contact us" page says to call the local store and lists the phone number. Called the number, the local store said we have nothing to do with online orders and can't help you. (Maybe the website shouldn't list the local store as the contact if that's true?) Guess I will be spending my money at Chewy instead. During a recent trip to this store, I was walking down the fish aisle when I slipped. Luckily, I caught myself before I was able to hit the ground completely but my neck, back, and ankle sure did pay for it later on. There was a huge flood of water by the fish tanks with absolutely no "wet floor" signs in sight. The guy, Jason, who was "cleaning" the tanks just stared at me as I fell. No apology or anything. In fact, he called me a "Karen" and a "bitch" for complaining to a manager about the puddle. I have never had a bad experience at this store until this new employee completely disregarded any concern for the customer's safety and went as far as to even blame the customer for something HE did. That man needs to learn what respect is and learn to put down a wet floor sign, better yet, do his job correctly- clearly, he is incompetent and should not be working with the public. read more

This store is always clean and pretty well stocked. I know there is an issue getting canned cat food in across all the stores, so cannot hold that against them. Team members are pleasant to deal with here, and there are plenty of sanitized carts and baskets. Keep it up! read more

This staff in this store is always friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make things right with coupons, returns, lost receipts, you name it I've had it. And they have never ever given me a hard time. So hard to find good customer service these days. Makes me look forward to shopping at a store like this and want to bring my pets. If you have a "biting fee" for dogs who don't like their nails cut, it might help if you had a written policy in-store on the window/door, on your website, and tell the customers before you take the dog into a back room (where we can't see our pet...for whatever reasons...what are you all hiding?) If you think a dog might act up, it'd also be wise to muzzle the dog first instead of getting bitten, then muzzling, and charging a fee. Our dog is NOT usually a biter. We did NOT see a bite mark on the employee and she didn't even show us where she was bitten, but were charged a "biting fee" after the fact. Try letting your customers know about this fee first instead of calling in the manager afterwards to explain this fee. They also called our puppy girl, "Crazy." "That one back there is crazy," said one employee who was not back cutting our pup's nails, but then went to help out. Our dog hates to be away from us. She's 1.5 years old, and still has separation anxiety issues...yet, she was taken into a back room, yelled at to "calm down," and then muzzled...all while we waited in the main grooming area. Our dog has a dry blood spot on one of her nails. She won't let me touch her paw (I wanted to get a photo of it to post as proof.) Maybe cutting the nail down too far caused her to act up and supposedly bite. We also told the employee that it was our dog's second time getting them cut there, and that she might cry and whine a bit. You'd think there'd be some common sense, like keeping her calm, or muzzling first if you have to. Maybe it's just a scam to charge more. $10 for a bite mark we had no proof of? -- and from a dog who is not a biter. We definitely won't be going back there. It's not the first time we've had issues there. I couldn't care less about being charged extra, but it helps to know about "hidden costs." My dog came home stressed out, laid down, wouldn't touch her treats (she never turns away treats,) or play out in the yard like she always wants to do. She kept moving away as if she was mad at me. Edit: However, there is ONE employee there who is really great with us and our dog. She's usually at the register. She talks to us, and our girl. The employee did some training commands, and fed her treats. My dog goes to her every time, and never has she bitten the employee or anyone else in the store. I'm not sure of the woman's name, but would like to thank her for being so nice and helpful/friendly. -- Everyone else? Not so much. read more

One certain employee has went above and beyond in customer service, her name is Tammy. My Jack Russell Terrier was injured and I was facing having to put her down which was utterly heartbreaking to me. She was my little girl. (I was told I couldn't have anymore children so I got her and she filled that void along with the fact that she was my first dog and I had her for 12 yrs..) The idea of her being in pain and the thought of having to let her go was far more than I could emotionally handle. I came in with her wrapped in a blanket looking for a good soft food to switch her to. Tammy seen that I was in a terrible state and she quickly came to my aid. Was very friendly and informative about different products. She also showed she had a genuine care for animals by asking to hold my baby girl. As she held my dog she spoke gently words of comfort, petting and soothing her. I was so touched that a stranger would show such care for my baby girl and be so comforting and empathetic to my situation. My little girl has went on to the rainbow bridge, but everytime I go to get food or supplies for my other dogs, Tammy is always upbeat and ready to help with anything that's needed. I always bring my dog here to be groomed. She has been groomed by Marissa, who is excellent - I've even asked for her. She called me to let me know she found fleas during the grooming and then helped me deal with them. She even remembers my dog's name and what length clipper to use. She's always smiling and warm with me and also the animals. And I will say this, too - Lola was groomed by a different groomer (not at the store) and the cut was not good and she had tons of clipper lines - showed me more that Marissa really knows what she's doing! read more

This review applies only to this store. I go out of my way to go to this one, and NOT to the one near my house. They are at opposite ends of the customer service spectrum. My review for the other store will be very brief - just assume it's the complete opposite. The manager I have gotten to know in this store is wonderful - she leads by example, and the employees have a great role model. The store in Brooklyn has well-trained staff who seem to enjoy what they are doing. I am always greeted when I walk in, offered help during my visit, it's extremely rare for them to be out of stock of many items, and they always load heavy things into my car. They thank me for shopping there and invite me to return. And I happily shop there frequently. read more

The GARBAGE they were eating from the bottom was in NO way beneficial to the fish, all it was was filth and debris that had not been cleaned up. I have owned fish for many years now and worked with them as well, so no, that is not correct. If it was truly "beneficial" you really think that ALL of those bettas would be on the brink of death? And why were the plants ROTTING? And please tell your employees to not use their hands to collect fish only to just drop them on the tile floor. After rescuing two Pit bulls about to be euthanized the rescue group and some of it's donors bought me some wonderful gifts for the dogs. Although most of the gifts were perfect a few of the harnesses and clothing did not fit my big bullies chests. One of the coats I brought into the store and asked to do an even exchange for the correct size( I even showed the manager the picture of my dog in the coat) and from the beginning she was not accommodating and rude (her name was Angel). I had other items that I wanted to do an even exchange for but a larger size and she informed me that did not come from her store but the coat did. I asked her if she could help me find a larger size in the coat and she said you're just going to have to look for yourself all the clothes are down there and pointed (full well knowing there was nothing but small sizes of all the clothes). The store was not busy at all there was not one other customer in it and she full well could have accompanied me to the clothing aisle. I came back to the register not knowing what to do and informed her there was not a larger size of the coat or any dog clothes for that matter. I asked her what can I do? She said very snappy "well if you don't have a rewards card I'm not giving you a credit" just about as rudely as she could say. At this point I was at the verge of tears, very embarrassed and also not feeling well as I'm a diabetic and I could feel my sugar getting low. She said I had to go and find something similar in price to switch out. Being that I make my own dog food and I have a dog that's allergic to grain I just picked up some dog treats and bones things that I really did not need and brought them to the register. As I was at the register I became a bit disoriented as I think my blood sugar became too low I started to sweat and just became a little confused, she then snapped at me and said you still have $5 credit I said to her "well ma'am I'm not feeling well I feel like I'm having a diabetic problem and I really don't care about the $5" she said that's fine and ended up putting that in a card. I never saw such a lack of respect towards a customer by someone who calls themself a supervisor and all of my life. She made me feel absolutely stupid for wanting to do an even return and never offered to even call or send me to another store to see if we could find the coat that I really wanted for my dog and just made me settle for some products I absolutely didn't want. The treats that I was forced to buy actually had grain in them and caused my dogs an allergic out break!! I called the corporate office to complain about the incident however I have not received a call back and it's been about 48 hours. I find it sad that store managers somehow forget these days that people are still given gifts and I don't think asking to exchange it for the same product that fits is asking her to go above and beyond anything that she would be capable of doing!! Her name was Angel and I would suggest if you're looking for a pet store that offers customer service in compassion this would not be the place for you to go. Although she was no way responsible for my blood sugar dropping the lack of humanity for her to even ask me if I was okay or would I like to sit down for a moment never even occurred to her. I shop for fish and supplies at this location. It seems I am speaking another language when I ask questions about their fish. Are not knowledgeable about compatibility or even the individual species. The extent of their fish education is matching pictures attached to the tanks with the actual fish What is more disturbing is the amount of dead fish floating in their tanks. A real turnoff when looking for fish. Makes me think these fish are not healthy and not something I would want to bring home to my tanks.
