This review is for their vetco pet clinic - They have provided the best pet care services I have ever received for my 14 year old puppy. I took her their for her shots and a well visit over the summer because they were having a special for a free well visit. My dog is extremely hyper for her age and I have received some rude comments in the past from other veterinary staff at other providers. The staff here at vetco was so welcoming and kind. They made us feel extremely welcome. I ended up, returning for dental care for my pup for the first time in her life (so I was nervous) and they took such great care of her and they followed up for the next few days to check on her. They also accept care credit which is extremely helpful. They do labs and procedures in office. I am extremely happy with the service I have received for my pup. read more

I've been to quite a few pet stores, and Petco is definitely one of the more reliable ones. The store is usually clean and well-organized, and they carry a wide variety of products for different pets, which I really appreciate. The staff is generally helpful, especially when I have questions about food or supplies. Sometimes it can be a little busy, and a few items are priced higher than expected, but overall it's a solid place to shop for pet essentials. I purchased a fish from this Petco just two days ago, and unfortunately, it passed away this morning. I had everything I needed--proper tank, food, and water treatment--to ensure the fish was well taken care of. I called the store to inquire about their policy for a fish that died so quickly, and I was told to bring the fish and my receipt and they would process a refund. When I arrived at the store, I went to find a replacement fish that I would've bought regardless until I spoke to who I'm pretty sure was the manager--a younger white male approached me and told me I needed to bring a water sample for testing to make sure the fish had a proper living situation something no one had mentioned when I called. He said he could not replace the fish since I didn't bring the water which no one told me to bring he was very rude. To clarify, I own a betta fish, which is still doing perfectly fine. I've had experience with proper tank maintenance and water conditions, so I'm confident the issue wasn't due to a lack of care on my part. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and refusal to assist in any meaningful way were extremely disappointing. I've trusted Petco in the past, but after this experience, I won't be returning. I hope they improve their policies and customer service in the future :) read more

Oh my goodness if I could give the vetco inside the petco at Westgate a ZERO I would! The tech entered the room and completely ignored my dog and began asking questions. My dog WALKED over to her and she yelled "Hold your dog back get him back" I was completely shocked that she wouldnt even acknowledge him and said he was just coming to greet you and she said "I dont want him to jump on me" I asked her how she could work with animals with an attitude like that. Not only that but the Vet that looked at him recoiled when my dog went to sniff his pantleg and he moved away from him. WHAT? I cannot fathom how the staff there can be so cold to pets that are brought to them for care. Not even a hi and a pat on the head to my dog. I will never go there again. I will go to a vet clinic that actually likes to be around dogs. read more

I took my dog here for the first time. I took my dog to a groomer that my friend recommended (Steve). My dog's cut was pretty uneven and be missed spots. But I took my dog back for them to correct it and they were great. The salon manager, Amber S, ended up fully grooming my dog. She was excellent and embarrassed the original cut was bad. Amber was kind and professional and even made it right by refunding my original grooming cost! She's a class act. read more

We have visited several groomers in the past for our golden doodle, but Petco groomers at Fairview Park went above and beyond. They were able to squeeze us in with extremely short notice for a full service groom. Steve and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly and extremely efficient. Our dog Spencer has NEVER looked so good! He smelled fantastic and his coat was SO soft. I am STILL impressed and he was groomed over two weeks ago. We will not be going anywhere else now that we have found the best at Petco. Thank you!! read more

Took my dog for a grooming appointment. The groomer was pretty rough with my small dog. I should have known it wasn't going to be ok.... Was ignored for 5 full minutes by 4 grooming staffers, two on their cell phones, two talking to each other. When I asked for help, three walked away, the fourth stayed on her phone. I was one of 3 waiting in line. Later saw two of them and the groomer (behind the glass)look my way, say something, and laugh. read more

The litter boxes for the kittens were absolutely disgusting. Standing 5' away you could smell them. Upon getting closer they were filled with poop. They are doing a reset and the aisles were impossible to go down, when I asked to go down an aisle I got a sigh. Pretty sure if I could see her face I got an eye roll too. The store itself was not so much the issue, although they did NOT have a plethora of options in most categories. My issue was with an employee. Specifically the only ONE sales associate that I was able to track down in order to actually find some assistance was extremely rude & unhelpful. I usually never mention employees by name, unless they go above & beyond, but in this case I was so dissatisfied with Mysha I felt compelled to share how rude & unhelpful she was. I will not be returning to this location & management should be made aware of her lack of support & overall attitude. Been a while, but this week brought grandkids to see rescue cats up for adoption. Store has been remodeled; sadly still the same old cages. And grooming entrance was moved to a couple feet away from the cages! Kittens looked afraid of the dogs coming in. We didn't stay, didn't want the grandkids caught between excited dogs & cat cages. read more

sooo we took our little, scratch, BIG white fur ball here for his first, butchering, er, i mean grooming appt. the girl who did the grooming was NOT overly friendly. in fact she was a little rude....to say the least. (i do not remember her name) .....however, she insinuated that mr. K had matted fur....which, i brush this dog religiously and take pride in how soft and well maintained his coat has been. however, when we picked him up about 4 hrs later, he looked like a ginormous shaved poodle. (he is a goldendoodle, but looks more retriever-ey)......i literally CRIED. yes, yelpsters. cried. like a baby. he looked like he was sooo embarrassed. i was embarrassed for the now defunct looking little man.....AND they automatically scheduled another hair cut without asking for about 6 weeks later. i received a call 'confirming' his grooming appt....whaaaa??? like really? the poor dog barely had time to grow out the coat that he once had, let alone get shaved AGAIN. we will not return to petco for grooming purposes. point taken. maybe we should leave the grooming services to those who actually know what they are doing, PETCO...... just an addendum on the pet food end. i see they stopped carrying the large bags of NUTRO natural food that i currently buy. when i asked the clerk for assistance she was like, uh, yeah, if its not back there, then we probably do not carry it anymore.......hhhmmm. now that's good customer service.....LAZY. i have since started ordering my food from a private distributor, nature select, and they deliver to the area for FREE. in this economy i like to support the independents and the cost is the same as what i am paying for NUTRO.... petco, get it together....you're losing good customers. woof. read more

My Murphy girl looks just gorgeous after a few hours with Jennie. Price is very reasonable for poodle grooming...$62. Murphy really hates all groomers. She hates this place the least so far. I've bought stuff here before, and they really do have some cute stuff. Maybe a tad pricier, but I've never really competitive shopped, or whatever the phrase is called. The reason why I'm giving this review is that I'm very ticked at the treatment towards the adoption kitties. Surely, PetCo can afford to give the cats some toys and blankets for every cat. In one instance, two cages were connected, so both cats could freely walk from one to the other, which is perfectly fine. One cage had two blankets, the other cat had to lay on the cold "floor" near the litter box. The ledge was empty. Seriously?? They couldn't place a blanket on there? I asked an employee (long brown hair in a ponytail with glasses) why there wasn't a blanket. She said because the cats go back and forth and the blanket would get dirty if it was in the litterbox side. Um....what about the blankets that are in the cages for a single cat? Couldn't those get dirty as well? Heck, why put blankets in there at all if the employees are worried about doing laundry? One word: Lazy. Another thing that ticked me off...lack of toys. One cat had 5. The others, zilch. Nada. Nil. It's not like the cat went and hoarded them all. Not all the cages are connected. I was going to buy some for all the cats, but I didn't because I will never shop here again. I'm not saying I will never shop at another PetCo. As I've said, their cat toys and such are pretty cute. I'm just never shopping at this location again. read more

I have been to this store a handful of times in the last couple of months and am very pleased with their customer service. Every time I have frequented the establishment, I am greeted by the same friendly male cashier. This gentleman is always friendly, helpful and pleasant to work with. I wish I knew his name so I could thank him personally. If it helps, I usually frequent the store during evening weeknight hours. The store also provides a very wide variety of specialty dog food (which I am in need of) as well as any other items I need for my pup. read more

Started coming here recently because their prices for Carefresh bedding are more reasonable than what's offered by the Pet Supplies Plus that is nearer to my house. The store is noticeably cleaner and much better organized. They sell Nature's Miracle cleaning supplies, too, which I appreciate -- although I've never seen the small animal cage wipes, which I'd appreciate even more. The staff is always friendly, if at times they are AWOL. I think they're currently understaffed, though. I usually get stuck browsing through all the fun dog toys, treats, and food; the place is ginormous. They have a groomer on site, which I think is helpful for a lot of pet owners (never used them, though, so not sure what they charge). I like that they have signs posted outside the small animal cages saying what vet they use to care for the animals. Basically, it's comparable to any PetSmart I've been to, and WAY better than any Pet Supplies Plus I've visited. For me, it's worth the extra gas mileage. If only they'd sell Oxbow brand timothy hay, I would bump this up to 4 stars. read more

The staff and customer service at Petco (Fairview Park) are all outstanding. They greet us and our pup by name when we walk through the door! We have participate s in the FREE puppy playtime classes held on Saturday and Sunday's and our puppy Ochi loved them! They are well supervised by their dog training staff too! We also have our pup enrolled in the dog training classes. The trainer Carolyn is very knowledgeable and helpful and our pup is doing very well. The grooming staff are also wonderful and do an excellent job! Their prices are very reasonable and offer appointments seven days a week and evenings too! Ochi looks and smells fantastic after his spa treatments! They also work with the Berra and,al rescue and offer feline pet adoptions. They have all current adoptees in nice separate enclosed spaces where they are waiting for their forever homes! I would highly recommend visiting Petco in Fairview Park for all your pet needs. And please bring your fur babies they love to shop and the staff loves their visits. read more

This review is for the Petco Grooming Dept. Steve came highly recommended by a friend and had some good reviews on the site, so I booked with him rather than going to a groomer outside Petco which was the gut instinct I probably should have listened to. When I made the appointment, Steve seemed great and stressed that the first grooming can often be difficult and he just wanted to do the minimum as not to upset my puppy, which sounded good to me. My Petco rewards had an old phone number on it, which I've updated with Petco about 5 times while shopping there. When I brought my puppy in for his appointment, Steve asked if that was the correct number and I said no, so he asked me to write down my current phone number which I did. I even crossed out the old phone number. He said he was hoping to have him done in about two hours and he'd call when he was ready. Two hours came and went so I called to check in and the girl who answered just said they'd call when he was done. Four total hours later, I was pretty concerned and decided to go in the store to check on the progress as I had heard nothing. Steve was at the front and asked if I had gotten his messages, which I had not. He said he called and there was no voicemail so he texted twice. I asked him what number he called and he read off my old phone number. I told him that was the wrong number and that I wrote down the right number like he had asked me to when we arrived. He sort of apologized and said he'd get it updated in the system now. I asked how long my puppy had been done for and he said about a half an hour but I have a feeling it was longer than that. Seeing as this was his first grooming appointment, I really didn't expect to have him there for four hours as I know he has some separation anxiety as he is not even four months old yet. Steve asked me if I wanted to pay first and then come back around and get my puppy and I said yes, but I wanted him to update my phone number first which he said he was going to do in the system, again. I stood at the counter for a minute waiting and the next thing I know he came out with my puppy. The whole interaction was just a little uncomfortable and peculiar. Overall, my puppy looks pretty good, although there's a big chunk out of his nose/eye area hair and it just doesn't look that great there which is unfortunately one of the first places you would obviously look at your puppy. I expected a better experience, especially for my puppies first time there. Maybe this was just a one off a random thing, but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

It feels weird to be reviewing a big chain, but I'm a frequent flyer at this location, so I thought I'd say a few kind words. We procure our cat and fish supplies here, and they usually have exactly what we're looking for. If it's not on the shelf, they are happy to scout in back for it. Service is usually very good, although it is a bit challenging to track someone down at times. We've had especially good luck with the gentleman who takes care of the fish; he's really knowledgeable and helpful. The other nice feature of this particular store is that they partner with a handful of local animal rescue organizations to adopt pets. read more

I took my dog to Petco Grooming for a full service groom a few weeks ago. He was recently rescued as a stray that was roaming the streets of Cleveland for what appeared to be a very long time and was in dire need of a cut, shampoo, full cleaning, nail clipping, ear cleaning, anal gland, the whole shebang. I paid for the FULL service and when I got the dog home his ears were just as filthy as before I took him there. His nails still clicked on the floor, my guess is that they were not trimmed. The cut was not worth what I paid, after closer inspection at home his hair was uneven and sloppy with some long hairs at various places on his body. He is a small dog at only 11 pounds, very docile and well behaved. I was very disappointed with the service provided, when checking out to pay for service the clerk behind the register insisted that I should leave a tip for the groomer, I wish I could get my money back. Initially walking into this store I noticed that it is one of the dirtier Petco's. I also felt as though I could cut the tension in the air between coworkers with a knife. I am again, very disappointed in PetCo. Their employees are consistently rude, and condescending. Went in to purchase a hamster, the sales person refused sale unless I purchased an aquarium tank instead of a hamster cage. I was not comfortable purchasing an aquarium, I would have rather bought a larger cage, but after her condescending tone and poor attitude I decided against the purchase altogether.
