My partner and I recently adopted a miniature dachshund puppy and have been to Hollywood Feed on Union at least once a week since for potty training supplies (treats, puppy pads, etc), toys and puppy food. The potty training has been challenging to say the least, but on each visit we have received wonderful customer service and stellar advice from Hollywood Feed employee Mariah! I like most of the locations. I find the owner or manager of the Cordova store has the worst personality and has never been friendly towards me whenever I've gone to that location. I'll go out of my way just not to go to that location. They have a great selection of Orijen dog foods and Primal dog food. Very clean stores and large selection of toys and leashes, beds crates. I ordered my dog's food for same day and it is currently 9pm and I still haven't receive my order. My dog has gone all day without eating and upon calling customer service several times I keep getting different responses saying that the driver will be there shortly. This will be my last time ever using this service or company! I just called the store and customer service number again and it states that they are now closed. I love this location! They have an actual dog bakery . Today was my fur baby's birthday, and I didn't put in an order for a cake in advance. Have no fear, Kayla and Mae are here!!! Kayla provided exceptional customer service to ensure my baby's day was a hit! She was an absolute pleasure from the moment she said hello. She worked with me to get the best treat. Zeus and I love Hollywood Feed! I have to pick times when I let him go inside depending on his mood. I only shop at the Cordova, Germantown, Poplar/Yates & Union Ave. locations because of the excellent customer service I receive each visit. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. The location in Cordova generally knows what I'm coming in to get when they see me. That makes me feel real special. I usually buy Zeus the 100 ct. pig ears. When they started coming in new packaging and the staff wasn't sure if there was 100 in the box, one of the employees literally took them all out and counted them to make sure it was 100 in the box. I appreciated that. I also bought him a new treat to try. When he didn't like it, they allowed me to bring it back for a store credit or to try something. Their customer service can't be beat. Never again. I have had to deal with my dog having a flea infestation for weeks now. She had not had this problem until I brought her here. 1st they were understaffed and it looked more like a puppy mill rather than a grooming center. I am highly disappointed. I also feel that my dog was injured, im not sure of it but she has had this marking on her for a couple of months and it still hasnt healed. I asked for my little girl to be "shaped up" and thought I could trust a groomer with 28 years of experience. My fur baby was SHAVED DOWN to her BARE SKIN. I've always had my dogs in the breed standard of top knots... her hair looks like a short haired Chihuahua. Yorkie puppies have enough hair for a small top knot, my Dog doesn't have enough hair for that! THEY DID NOT CALL ME TO INFORM ME THEY WERE SHAVING HER DOWN TO HER SKIN! ... I just couldn't believe my eyes when I picked her up & her hair was GONE!! The groomer didn't even acknowledge me when I picked her up & was in the process of SHAVING someone else's poor fur baby! I usually find my way to Petco. The only reason is because it is super close to my house and it's on my way home. However, I was coming from the downtown area today and had to stop and pick up some dog food. A friend recommended a specific type of dog food for my specific breed of dog. You can only get the brand that I wanted at Hollywood feed. This place was so clean and we'll kept. Everything was where you could easily find it and most everything was eye level. We were greeted as soon as we walked into the store by Meredith and her co-worker. I did not grasp his name. I have a special needs puppy at home so I had a ton of questions and concerns. Meredith did not have one single problem addressing every question and concern that I had. My two puppies are extremely satisfied! I will definitely be back. Oh what a glorious place this is! I can't get over how wonderful and magical it is...especially when comparing it to Petco (bleck!! Never going there again). I bought a beautiful leather collar for $14 here...$14!!!! At any other shop it would have been $40. I know because I've been that sucker. The staff is unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable. Who knew adding goats milk to my pup's diet would have helped so much! And I love that they promote natural and holistic food. And it really isn't that much more expensive than the crap you buy at Kroger's. Plus I rest easy knowing my love bugs are getting stuff that is good for them. OK, so the deer antlers are more expensive than rawhide BUT they last way longer and are sooooo much better for your pups! Rawhide is bad, yo! (Don't feel bad, I didn't know until recently either.) I am not a huge fan of chains but they started in Memphis and I must admit it is quite nice to always have a Hollywood Feed near me anywhere I am in the city. It makes it that much easier to stick with them rather than go to Petco which is literally down the street from my house. We are here for a long weekend away and decided to take Rosie Marie shopping. She had a wonderful time and enjoyed visiting with the other pups, as well as the humans. Rosie found a new collar, a new harness, some treats and even a sweet potato cupcake! Yum!! I started to buy her a new toy and one of the employees showed us a toy she might like better -- a Holey Roller! When we got back from the spree, guess what Rosie Marie took straight to her bed? So I have a Basset Hound/Blue Tick mix. Anyone who has ever had a hound dog knows that their nails are...problematic. Especially when they have tiny legs and don't like to run, their nails just grow and grow into talons. This is a painful problem for humans and dogs. Mostly humans. Ouch. I took Petunia (yes, that's her name...) to another, national chain pet store. They were super rude, needed all kinds of paperwork for her rabies shot (and apparently the tag and paper from my vet in Arkansas weren't okay), and basically didn't act like they wanted anything to do with me, my dog, or my money. So I called Hollywood Feed to see if they do nail trimming and they do! Terri is there Tuesday-Saturday, 10ish to 4ish, and she's fantastic. Great with the dogs, really cares about them clearly, and cut Petunia's nails better than any other person ever had. She also talked to me about how to keep them from getting so long (walk on sidewalks more often, file them if she'll let me) so I don't have to go so often. Getting her nails cut was on $10, $3 less than at the big store, and I got her some treats that both dogs LOVED on the way out. The prices are a little higher, but it's just such a clean, pleasant store that I'll never go to another pet store in Memphis! read more

I have been to several Hollywood Feed locations around town but the one on Union is the closest to my home and the location I frequent the most. As with all Hollywood Feed stores the quality of service and merchandise is top notch. My first visit to Hollywood Feed was prompted by my need to find a solution for my dog's allergy problem. I was giving her multiple doses of Benadryl each day and she was still scratching herself raw. My vet recommended that I try several high quality foods to see if that would help. I tried every brand the vet suggested with little or no improvement. I was about to give up when a friend told me I visit Hollywood Feed. I'm so glad I listened to my friend because the staff at Hollywood Feed knew exactly what I needed. They suggested that I try a brand called Holistic Select. I saw an improvement in my dog's allergies within days and complete turnaround in a matter of a few short months. That was years ago and I continue to feed her Holistic Select to this day. As far as I know this small local chain is the only store in Memphis to carry the brand. Had it not been for knowledgeable staff and dedication to quality products we might still be scratching! read more

From the sweet furbabies behind the counter to the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff, it's always a pleasure to shop at Hollywood Feed. Normally I just pop in and get the pups their usual dog food without needing any assistance, but my most recent visit was different. I wanted to switch the boys' food and the HF staff person was very helpful. She listened to all my questions and concerns and gave me an option that she felt would work great for my boys and reminded me that Hollywood Feed promises that "If your pet doesn't love it or you don't love it, we will gladly replace or refund it." This review is only for the grooming. I like the store and the helpfulness of the people in the store. I took my miniature schnauzer there to be groomed. I thought I was getting a great deal, being only $35 for everything. Well, I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" applies to this. The morning I brought her in, the groomer was late, and very frazzled. She must not have been paying attention when I told her specifically what to cut, and what to not. She cut the beard on my schnauzer, and pretty much butchered it. I even told her not to cut the beard. It was extremely uneven and way shorter on one side than the other. The whole cut was uneven. This store is great for other things... but not grooming. read more

great local pet store in the memphis area! there are several locations around the city but this is the closest one to the western part of memphis. the staff are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about everything! I come here mostly for the special treats they have on display for my dog and the squeeky tennis balls that he loves so much ($1 if you buy 5 at a time). i also come here for the anti-itch supplies that they sell! especially zyvox (works miracles on my dog!) best thing ever: you can bring your doggie in! and they have adoption events from streetdog foundation one saturday a month for you to look at their adoptable pets! read more

Hollywood Feed has always been our go to place for all of our pet needs. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable during past experiences. However, our grooming experience here was horrible! DO NOT get your dog groomed at this location! This was our first time to visit the Union location. Our regular groomer at the East Memphis location was out of town, so we came here instead. We have a beautiful golden retriever who just needed a bath, his nails clipped, and a haircut. He is regularly cleaned, so he does not have matts other than the little bitty ones that occasionally occur behind the ears. When we arrived to pick him up, his entire body had been SHAVED! You can probably understand our shock. I was almost in tears. We asked the people up front why they shaved him (he had never been shaved before at the other locations) and they all looked confused and went to get the groomer. All the groomer could say was that we should have said a trim because a haircut means a full shave and that every groomers definition of a haircut is different. She didn't apologize for not asking us if shaving him would be alright. She just said she was sorry we misunderstood....Seriously??? Why in the world would anyone shave a golden retriever? If she would have bothered to look at his files from previous visits at other locations she would have known that we did not want him shaved. We have been taking him to Hollywood Feed to be groomed for years and have never had such a terrible experience. You would expect a groomer to know the typical coat standards for different dogs. She even had the nerve to charge $75 for the butchered haircut she gave our pup. That's really expensive for an indoor dog with no matts. Previously, we have only been charged $50 for our usual groom. Now we are left with a silly, half-naked looking pup, who can't seem to stop scratching himself after his bad haircut. We will never go to this location again. Extremely disappointed and so sad that our beautiful dog looks so ridiculous. read more

I love Hollywood feed and I would definitely give them 5 stars but I've found I try to avoid this location simply because they can be a bit overbearing. They totally mean well, but you walk in and can't even get to what you need before you are bombarded by EVERY single person that works there asking if they can help you.. I understand and appreciate good customer service and they have it! They just need to find a happy medium and tone it down a notch. Love this place, wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff is super helpful, and I love that they get the giant bag of dog food off the shelf for me and then carry it to my car for me. Their customer service really is top-notch and can't be beat. Plus, they carry a wide range of top of the line dog foods -- true, they're pricey, but you get what you pay for. My lab lived for 6 years with near constant ear infections; once I moved to Midtown, I started going to Hollywood Feed and buying a (pricey) grain-free food, and now he never gets ear infections. Apparently he was just allergic to grain -- I wish I had been buying this more expensive food the entire time! Plus, with the brand I buy (Fromm's), every 13th bag is free, which is awesome, considering it's $70. I also love their self-service baths -- it's well worth the $10 to keep my bathroom clean and my bathtub free of dog hair to use their baths. Hollywood Feed is the best: they're a local business and are super involved with local dog rescues, so I'm happy to spend my money there versus a nationwide chain that might be cheaper. read more

Hollywood Feed has been my store of choice for my puppy for 3 years. That all changed this weekend, whenI took my Pomeranian to be groomed here. I had gotten her grooomed here previously without issue, which is why I had no qualms about bringing her again. When I arrived, I specifically said, "Do not shave her." Much to my surprise when I picked her up, she had been shaved! The groomer, without offering explanation, said "We had to." I was in shock, as I had not anticipated this at all. I paid and left. I called back later and a manager explained that my dog was matted and the groomer didn't have an option. If that was the case, I would have appreciated and expected a phone call to ensure that it was okay to shave her, given that I had specifically said "Do not shave her." They refunded my money and I thought that was that. Until a rash broke out on her belly. I thought maybe it was dog version of razor burn, but when the rash didn't go away and she was continually itching and biting herself, I took her to the vet. Imagine my surprise to find out she has gotten Staph infection from the razor! So not only is my dog sick with a bad haircut, I am now out $135 for the shot and antibiotics for this ridiculous situation. Do not take your dog here for grooming purposes - it is unclean and unsafe for your animal. read more

The grooming here is terrible. I LOVE this store in general and buy pretty much everything for my dogs here. Our first dog didn't really need grooming services but when we recently got a long haired dachshund we knew he'd need regular grooming. He came to us with long, unkempt, matted fur so we wanted to get him taken care of quickly and weren't sure where to go but this Hollywood feed had an opening and I figured they'd be good at grooming. He's got long hair and it's adorable and I really wanted to keep it that way. We just wanted to get him trimmed up a bit to make sure his fur wasn't matted and wouldn't be so unkempt. We told them this when we dropped him off, and really emphasized this because we did NOT want him shaved. They said that was fine. Apparently it wasn't though because I was shocked when I went to pick him up and they had shaved him. Not only did they completely ignore our request, but they also did a terrible job shaving him. The cut was completely uneven and looks awful. I will never bring a dog here for grooming ever again. read more
