He joined the Air Force and wanted it shipped to Germany, where he is base. One of the requirements is no tinted windows in the front driver and passenger windows. I had to remove the tint. It took me 15 minutes to remove the passenger side. When I went to the driver's side. Guess what? No tint to remove. They never install the tint I paid for. This is how they treat US service members. Felix at the front desk greeted me immediately and fielded all of my questions and gave me several quotes to best fit my budget as well as my end goal (which was to obtain a high level of clarity and detail by installing aftermarket speakers and amplifiers along with having two 12" subwoofers installed to fulfill my inner basshead). After settling on the right price and components (which were explained to me thoroughly despite my lack of knowledge), we arranged to have my system installed the very next day. Before getting into my car the next day after the installation, I had the chance to meet with Felix again as well as the owner, Tony. Both of them took the time to explain exactly what they installed and why, but more importantly - they explained the level of investment that their technicians put into their work on my car by adjusting each detail to fine-tune the sound to perfection. I had a laundry list of problems when I went to High End Vine, including being quoted amounts way over what they themselves set as prices when I called their NJ location (basically only lowering stuff from 150-200% to their normal price if I questioned it), having them lie about why this was with nonsensical answers that weren't even well though-out. High End's customer service was terrible, a bunch of games (it's absurd how shady these got) to lock me in there and then keep charging more, not to mention how many things they messed up or dropped the ball on. It was a circus and incredibly stressful. At Philly Car Toyz, who I went to after pulling work from High End, I felt like I could finally relax. They're all AMAZING people. Genuine, decent, fair and the most important part: incredibly knowledgable. I can't stress that last part enough, though all of it was beyond what I've ever experienced, even at the best businesses I've patronized...I mean they bought me lunch while I was waiting ffs. But even though the lunch thing was consistent with how they treated me with everything else, and customer regard is very important, lunch is not why someone is reading this review. The big question is price and expertise. They charged me less than HALF of what High End was going to (and I know High End's charges would've undoubtedly gone up as the job progressed). Everything about the sincerity and decency of Philly Car Toyz would have been enough for me, even if they had average technicians. However, their main technician Mike is insanely knowledgable, practical and has the customer's satisfaction front and center. He puts everyone else's knowledge that I've met in car audio to shame (though his expertise spans so many areas other than audio, and that's what you want). I found him here on Yelp and hired him for a PPI to look at a 2003 Tiburon. A family member is an enthusiast for these old cars which they wanted to make into a "hot hatch". I met Lee at the dealer, which was a long drive to the dealer for both of us. And of course the car was in a back lot 3 or 4 rows deep. So while waiting for the dealer to find the car and bring it to the front, Lee noticed some teenagers who were there to look at a Civic SI. One of them was checking for rust by knocking his knuckles on the car body. Lee smiled at this and went over to chat with them and before you know it, he was reviewing the car with them, explaining how you really check for rust, opened the hood and began digging into how to tell if this Civic was running well or not. He looks underneath the car by getting on the ground and actually looking. I noticed all the other guys, both the dealer guys and the buyers, were hesitant to do this. I think they were intimidated because he obviously knew much more about engines than they did. I was impressed that Lee has the instincts of an educator. He really wants to not just evaluate the car but to teach others how to examine a car. Eventually the Tiburon appears and then Lee quickly went through his process. He focuses on the engine and doesn't move on from that until all issues are covered. In this case, he zeroed in immediately on the coolant system. It wasn't holding pressure. I watched as he carefully tested and retested and showed the dealer technician that the system was bad and that it was leaking. We had already been there for an hour and a half so it was decided that the dealer would pull a hose from another car ( the dealer was close to a salvage yard) and repair it and then Lee would return to test it again. In the end, even the dealer gave up on this car, he didn't complete any repair and we moved on. But I will have Lee examine any car we are considering. He is an excellent mechanic, fair and honest.

Less than 24 hours later, the car broke down in a dangerous way. AAA confirmed the repair was unsafe and improperly done, and another certified mechanic verified this. The axle came out and nearly caused a serious accident. When I contacted him, instead of refunding the payment, he admitted in text messages that "the axle came out" but refused to return the money. He also tried to deflect responsibility by making inappropriate comments about race and insisted on "fixing" it again -- despite my clear statements that I no longer trusted him after such unsafe work. I have full documentation: receipt, CashApp payment, AAA confirmation, mechanic statement, and text messages from his phone. This needs to be on record to prevent him from scamming and endangering others. He is also not listed with the BBB as a registered business -- but I have filed a complaint so there will now be a record. If he scammed you too, REPORT HIM. Businesses that operate this way do not last. Add On: It's not harassment to ask for my money back after a repair failed in less than 24 hours and almost caused an accident.
