The option of live seafood or frozen in a seafood restaurant is off-putting since "live" incurs an additional $2. Especially when you have fresh seafood prices. Melted butter is an additional $1. Came here with the family. The food took a very long time to come out and the portions were very small for the price. All the food we received was very salty, including the gumbo that we ordered, so it wasn't just the seafood. It was not worth the price we were paying so after one order of seafood and one order of soup, we left and went somewhere else. I would give three stars, but the service needs a lot of improvement.When my friend and I walked in, there were about 5 people standing at the other end of the restaurant, and one just yells to sit wherever. That immediately set me off, as there was not one other person in the place. If you have no customers, and two hungry ones walk in, maybe try being more helpful. I got the mussels and my friend got the shrimp and mussels combo. Mediocre at best. The shrimp still had veins in it, despite being "boiled to perfection". The "mild" sauce was bland no flavor. Food is great here. Definitely my favorite chicken in town. We always get half and half. Both flavors are great but garlic soy is my personal fav. I love Seafood, so i was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this place. The Pros is The food was AMAZING!! I got the fried shrimp combo and the fried Catfish combo one with Cajun fries, the other with regular fries and i loved them both. My friend wanted the lobster boil with holly sauce and spicy but was told that option was not Available. He settled for the Shrimp boil and enjoyed it, but wanted the Lobster. I was expecting more shrimp for the price on my fried dish but it was tasty. It was a nice casual atmosphere to me, i wish online ordering was available as i would order more often. I also was disappointed that i have a 10% off yelp coupon code i tried showing and was told "its not accepted " so that put me off a bit. Shitty ass service. The food was okay and prices are decent but the customer service was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. The girl that was our server rushed us to order and pay, didn't check to see if we needed anything-such as refills. I'm not sure what her name is but shes Hispanic and I believe the only server there because I come here once in a while and she's always my server. The food we ordered was spicy and we wanted refills but she didn't come to check up on us like she's supposed to. I used to work as a server myself so I know how it works. Plus, me and my friend were the only ones there. The first time I was there she accidentally spilled a cup of ice all over my table. Holly Crab was great , no complaints. I took my girlfriend there for some seafood, and she loved it. I got the Snow crab & Crawfish, and she got the Snow crab & Clams. She loved hers , and kept insisting we have to go back soon. I got the "Holly Crab" sauce, and although I won't say it was bad, it could've been better, but that's just my personal opinion. Definitely would not go there for anything but seafood boil, even that is pushing it, would NEVER order the mussels again. They were over cooked and very chewy. None of the fried dishes that were ordered at the table looked to be anything that did not come from a frezer. $10.95 for chicken fingers and $6.45 for cheesy noodles, that probably cost $.75 to make. One of the orders of cheesy noodles was for someone that likes spice, and the heat was to much for her. Their idea of mild would be hot for some. The prices are steep, they charge you right down to the last drop of butter, literally, and the service was well below standard. None of our food even came out at the same time. They also couldn't handle putting part of our check through as cash, and the rest on a card. With all of that said, our daughter did enjoy her snow crab (even though we had to order the corn and potato separate, seems silly to me). She had wanted Dungeness crab, which they only had 2.5lbs and wanted $28.95/lb, $72 for one meal that would have included no sides, just the crab! Which we can get locally for much less and cook at home. I may consider trying again in several months, just for the boil, if they survive. No apologies from management or any effort to make the experience better. I literally threw away a pound of mussels, they were that bad. If you go, don't go with high expectations. read more

Part deux of 2016's Best of Boston does not disappoint! Its not very often that I get to dine party of one so when I do, I like to try out new restaurants. Per usual, I enlisted the help of Yelp. I called in a takeout order of 1lb of clams and another lb of shrimp. Unfortunately, their website menu didn't describe the sauces so I had to inquiry. The very nice person on the phone couldnt quite provide a description that helped. So I just ended up picking the butter and garlic sauce thinking, as you would assume, it would just be melted butter and sauteed garlic. I finished placing the order and she said it'll be ready in 5 mins, I said back to her, did you say 25 mins?? No, she really did say 5 mins. Well please delay the order by 15 mins so it doesnt get cold I said to her. I get there and the order is ready but its only luke warm. Fail! So I get home with my expectations already in a downward spiral. Well.........I was pleasantly surprised that the broth they used was fantastic!! The littleneck clams (??) and shrimp were a pretty decent size. I'm more than happy to report that any negatives were blown away of how awesome the sauce taste! btw, Holly Crab also provided everything I needed to enjoy my meal (e.g. bib, wipes, small tray to hold the shells and etc.). Amazing seafood. I almost eat here everyday, literally. I dont think i would ever get sick of it. I've recently tried loui loui, and let me say, their sauce wasnt thaaaaaat lovely. Besides the bomb.com food, i have to say the service there is great. Their all so friendly. I love how sometimes they play kpop because its very rare for restaurants to play thay type of music. It was our first time trying out Holly crab and will be our LAST, there were 4 of us including a toddler! First of all, we were there on a Monday night probably about 4 tables occupied, that's it. We waited about 50 minutes for our food! My toddler was agitated, I was very annoyed! Especially when the 3 tables that came after us got their food first. When we finally got our food, I asked for a plastic knife, they don't even have it. SMH. Corn was tiny! A 2 pound combo looks like a 1/2 pound. Very little! We didn't even get our bibs and tray until food came. Only pros are the waitress was nice and food wasn't salty. I wouldn't go back though. I'll stick to Loui Loui. read more

We were seated immediately since they werent busy on a Saturday night. Service wasnt all that great, waiter seemed annoyed and done for the night, understable I guess after a long day. We ordered shrimp and live crawfish. It came after about 30 minutes on a relatively slow night. It tasted great and we got 16oz soda bottles :D The spicy holly crab sauce was delicious,but Im Asain and that spicy was really spicy for me!
