We had to try to work & take meetings with a constant, loud bass in the background, as well as try to sleep through it. After several texts and complaints, on the third and last night, somebody finally turned it off at 7PM. Not worth the comfy bed & free juice.

Our king room was spacious, comfortable, and dog-friendly. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches for our pup, including food and water bowls in the room and a welcome treat upon arrival. One of the perks of staying overnight is access to the outdoor soaking pool, which is always a highlight. The property has plenty to enjoy, including several bars, a main restaurant, a spa, and even a movie theater. There's enough to keep you entertained without ever needing to leave the grounds. We're big fans of McMenamins in general and, as Tripsters, we're always happy to visit their unique properties. Grand Lodge continues to be one of our favorites. The staff is consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. At times they seem a bit understaffed and can get busy, but the employees always do their best to provide great service and make guests feel taken care of. Overall, it's a fun and relaxing place to stay, and we look forward to coming back again next year.

The reservation and check-in process was totally smooth. Jerry showed us the room and gave us the key to use to enter our room and the building later. The bed was very comfortable with all kinds of sheets and pillows that allowed my wife and me to pick one that was just right for each of us. The room also had plenty of space for all our stuff. The temperature was just right and was able to get more than warm enough with the fireplace and two forced air heaters (one for the bedroom and one for the bathroom). The bathroom was also very nice too. It had a large shower, two sinks and all the fixings a hotel room has. We also noticed some bathrobes, but didn't end up trying those on. In the morning, we came up to the dining area for breakfast and had an amazing breakfast made by Jerry. The amount of food was by no means too small and came with local coffee and orange juice. There was even bread that came from a local bakery. This breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere. We also enjoyed having conversations with Jerry about his passion for this B&B and other topics too. The location of this place is great for all kinds of activities. There are wineries, a number of nice restaurants in Newberg and all these random agricultural-themed attractions nearby. We stopped by a barn store and got a pie on the way home! It's also fairly close to Portland and family we stay with when we visit. All in all, we left this place with great memories and the pleasure of having been part of someone's lifelong passion of hospitality. Day 1- Trash was not removed from exterior of guest house. Upstairs patio and chairs at guest house stained with bird dropping and smashed cherries, as were the downstairs outside couches. Called ITrip operations who sent the groundskeeper to resolve issue. He never did wash down the patio. Same night, we wanted to enjoy our dinner to experience the beautiful weather. We were unable to remove the layers of dirt on the patio dining table at Manor and had to eat dinner inside. Day 2- We noticed outside chairs at Manor were dirty and did not sit on it, as were the chairs around fire pit. Called ITrip operations again to tell first tell them Day 1 patio cleaning was not properly done, and that my HUSBAND washed and scrubbed it himself. Then proceeded to tell them about newly noticed issues. Operations sent someone in a timely manner. He was the plumber, Victor who scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed...did an AMAZING job!!! Also told him our a/c was warm and not working properly. He tried to resolve, and advised if not cooled by Day 3 to call management._ Day 3- After sleeping 2 nights in warm stuffy condition, had to call management again to notify....they could not promise someone could come out. After waiting a few hours it was evident a/c was not working and sent text message that conditions warranted an emergency service call. An a/c expert arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed major issue with a/c system in guest house. He managed to get it cool enough for us to enjoy sleeping. Day 4- Finally all issues resolved the day before we were to check out. _ Check out day- Post wedding celebration, we requested a late check out but no response. We quickly packed up so as to not get charged. House cleaners arrived as the last of us were about ready to leave. We told her everything except a/c issue in guest house. She confirmed it ALL should have been completed prior to our arrival, and that we could have had a late check out since no one was scheduled to arrive in a couple of days. Moreover and probably the most concerning was an undisclosed RV above the property was being occupied by groundskeepers who had codes to access the homes. Terrifying if all females stayed at the property. Exterior night lighting around grounds insufficient, making it dangerous. The amount of money we paid to stay was overpriced for the non-privacy and condition it was delivered in. Above all else, interior of both homes were very clean, the beds were comfortable, bathroom amenities excellent, expansive outside space and private lake was enjoyable. Response time and maintenance resolution by ITrips operations was impressive, however, I'm still waiting for the property manager to call me, it's been 7 days Might recommend to others with but with caveats.

Shoutout to Daniel who was a fabulous adventure guide and so nice! We also enjoyed happy hour at the Meridian bar. Delicious small bites and cocktails, also want to call out Zak who made great drinks and provided us with nice conversation a few nights in a row. We decided to stay here because the rates were cheaper and the reviews were higher than a competitor in the area. Having stayed at another hotel the day prior that was not well maintained, the difference in our stay at the previous hotel vs HI&S was night and day. First of all, the room was clean and all appliances were in working order. I know that sounds like the bare minimum but at our previous hotel, there was noticeable dirt on the wall and the bathroom light went out in the morning. so happy to arrive to a clean room and a working bathroom light after ~6 hours of driving! There were plenty of outlets to charge our devices. Although I didn't take a shower there, my friend did and had no issues. They have a free breakfast with various hot and cold options. I love that they not only have a waffle bar but also different batter flavors and toppings. Speaking of toppings, I noticed that their syrup has no high fructose corn syrup. I remember a this exact waffle bar setup, albeit different batter flavors, at the HI&S near Elkins Park, PA in February. Glad to see that the waffle bar is a "regular" at Hampton hotels. They also have coffee in the lobby so guests can enjoy it at any time. Staff was friendly and the check in/out process was easy. Note that they charge you a $50 fee that they refund after your stay. Would absolutely recommend to my family and friends from out of town when they come to visit (I just moved here for grad school!).
