The breakfast here is either buffet style or order your options. Pretty generic breakfast food, like eggs, potatoes, sausage and waffles and breakfast burritos. Drinks are orange/apple juice and there's cereal and yogurt. Now the room itself was spacious, which we appreciate. Nothing stinks more than feeling crammed. The room was clean upon arrival, I did see a yellow stains/puddle and someone's hair left over in the tub, we just rinsed it down and the front desk know and they were more than happy to send someone to clean it again. There is a decent sized fridge and a microwave! Bed wasn't the comfiest but was better than some I've tried. The pillows were horrible, I must say, they would literally go flat within 2 seconds on laying on it, so I had to request a couple extra to prop my head up. Other than that, this hotel was great for what we needed. It is just west of Portland so it was a good home base to have because we went East, South, and West of this location. The town itself also has plenty of shopping and eateries, with Costco being 3 min away so we could go fill up our gas tank. We would stay again.

We have been staying here 24 days so far as our house burned down, and I almost don't want to move into a rental house as it is so nice here. The breakfasts are always different during the week and weekend, which provides a very nice change of pace. Excitingly, there are always some Asian options as well to ensure that the folks from far away also feel at home. Our room had a stale, fast food-eque smell that would not leave no matter how many windows were opened and fans were on. The bathroom tub was stained and there was mold on the shower-head and bathtub seal. The surfaces had not been wiped down, the furniture was clearly dated and worn down, and the bedsheets were tired and pilling. The AC is old and therefore extremely loud every time it turns on. The fan made a clicking noise with every rotation and at every speed. I was so uncomfortable that I felt more at ease sitting in their plastic courtyard chairs than my own room's couch. First of all, we have been to many hotels over the years for our anniversaries, but I have never been treated like this in the past. They did some special things for us at this hotel that we have never had done for us before! We were amazed at the way they went above and beyond for us! Then besides everyone being very nice and welcoming, the hotel was so clean and just smelled fresh. The view from our window was beautiful as well! To top it all off their free breakfast was amazing! That is where we met Dominique! She was like icing on the cake. She worked nonstop in the kitchen and dining area to make the breakfast perfect for everyone! She met me the first day and called me by name every day after that! She kept all the food fresh and all the tables clean, like I said, she never stopped! She was cheerful the whole time and just brightened up the breakfast area for us all! She was a great addition to an already beautiful experience! We decided to stay here because the rates were cheaper and the reviews were higher than a competitor in the area. Having stayed at another hotel the day prior that was not well maintained, the difference in our stay at the previous hotel vs HI&S was night and day. First of all, the room was clean and all appliances were in working order. I know that sounds like the bare minimum but at our previous hotel, there was noticeable dirt on the wall and the bathroom light went out in the morning. so happy to arrive to a clean room and a working bathroom light after ~6 hours of driving! There were plenty of outlets to charge our devices. Although I didn't take a shower there, my friend did and had no issues. They have a free breakfast with various hot and cold options. I love that they not only have a waffle bar but also different batter flavors and toppings. Speaking of toppings, I noticed that their syrup has no high fructose corn syrup. I remember a this exact waffle bar setup, albeit different batter flavors, at the HI&S near Elkins Park, PA in February. Glad to see that the waffle bar is a "regular" at Hampton hotels. They also have coffee in the lobby so guests can enjoy it at any time. Staff was friendly and the check in/out process was easy. Note that they charge you a $50 fee that they refund after your stay. Would absolutely recommend to my family and friends from out of town when they come to visit (I just moved here for grad school!).
