This review mainly encompasses the deli and soup/salad bar at the Shasta View location, which is why I give it 2 stars. The overall score would be 3.5. I've had recurring issues with both the wilted lettuce in the salad bar and the paltry remains of the soup. I rarely see anyone attending to the bar or refilling the soups. It seems to be set it and forget it. If soups are refilled-- like the chicken tortilla soup I bought last evening-- they are usually only warmish and not hot. I see no ownership or pride in managing the area. In fact it usually has a vacant look. After every complaint I've made, the performance reverted to the same sub standard service after a day or so. I contacted HQ on Sunday and am awaiting a call back from upper mgmt. I don't mind paying a little extra for good food... But not what they offer for the cost in the salad bar and soup bar. read more

Love this place been coming here since we have been planing on moving. But now I would skip this store to another. I brought my parents who are from out of town get some good sandwiches. But this employee Spencer was a total jerk he in his words said it respectfully. But he was loud about it and belittling my mother. And of course like a baby tells management the conversation he has es respectful. Just to let you know how loud this guy is the manager was in the back of the sandwich area. He's a total jerk I wanted to confront him but didn't wanna be a Ken because there was a long line. I would recommend to another holiday maker. read more

July 27,2024 This was my first time shoping at this store. I used to shop at "Tops" that no longer is. I am one of those disabled old veterans who can't ambulate well and use the stores electric cart and I use O2. Most people put distance from me and am lucky to get a "howdy" from store employees; it is just human nature. The people that work at this store are friendly and when I asked questions or needed help, they were more that happy to accommodate me. I bought a couple of NY steaks, large spinach raviolis and other items I like. Sometimes grocery stores re-date meat items and other stuff so they don't lose money. When you get home the smell gives it away. Everything that I bought here was fresh and delicious. This is my (go-to) store now. When I was through checking out a nice lady employee helped me get the groceries into my truck. Thank you read more

Didn't expect my local holiday market, who prizes themselves on local products and providing for the community, take advantage of its customers. During this time when items are harder to come by, they decide to gouge the price of its products. Deli sandwiches now come with a bottle of off brand water. No options of drink even though you pay for it. I hope holiday this holiday goes out of and gets replaced by a new local stores. The employees are trashy too, no respect. Only there for a paycheck. They should collect it from unemployment cause there customer service is garbage. The excuse for the health department stopping them from offering soda is ridiculous. I'll offer you 5 different solutions. 1. Discount the sandwich the cost of the soda 2. Offer bottled soda 3. Have a worker fill the soda up for the customer 4. Hand the cup to the customer and have them fill themselves (like every other restaurant in Redding) 5. I like it as a grocery store, despite the prices. They have a good organic and natural section. I used to love it as my go to sandwich place. A holiday sandwich was a weekly craving. If I could give zero stars I would for the TERRIBLE customer service I just received from whom I was informed is the store manager, Katy. The meat that I purchased turned brown the day after I purchased it and she processed to tell me she checked the batch that it came from as it did not appear to look like the meat that I had. I shop here frequently as I am a resident in the neighborhood close by but will not be returning after this incident. This was the old Shasta View Market, actually the new old Shasta View Market. The old Shasta View Market was at that empty lot east of the now Holiday Market and that lot will hopefully one day be the new Holiday Market, leaving this place vacant...or maybe turned into a Dollar General:) This is a neighborhood market with all the charm to be expected from such a title. It's a beautiful little store, busy, clean and the people are so friendly. They pack in so much in such a small space! Front right corner has hot food and deli, back right has a mock old fashioned butchers station and my favorite is front left beer cave that you can access from doors on the outside or walk into. Ok, the beer selection is excellent and this is a tip you might find interesting. Most craft beers (my favorites) seem to be priced better or less than other large scale liquor stores.Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more. PROS: Holiday has the best deli sandwiches in town. They sell most ingredients in store (best pickles ever), and there is only a dollar difference between a half/whole sandwich ($6/$7). You can order online, super convenient. CONS: No cons anymore. There was an online order for a sandwich with "pepper", not "peppers". I contacted management to make the online orders differentiate between black pepper and pepperoncinis. They contacted me, changed the online ordering, and offered free sandwiches (which I didn't ask for or need). They are so great with customer service, and I'm glad we have a store like this. I agree 100% with Cody C's recent July 2011 review. The remodel was so far overdue, that it literally left you wondering when the health department would close the store down. But I have to admit, they really have turned an old dilapidated building into a decent shopping experience. They now feature a walk-in beer cave, new flooring, restructured check-out lanes, customer bathrooms near the front of the store, and the grocery reset seems to make better sense. If you're shopping Holiday Markets, then you already know - you have to be conscious of items for sale via their Reward Card. If you pay regular price at any Holiday Market, you won't get much for your money. For those of you who read my scathing review of the deli service at Holiday #40 in Palo Cedro, you should know that you've got to be on your toes at this one as well. Service can go from great to horrid in seconds and most employees seem to have hot buttons for things like deli-slicing meats and cheeses that aren't prepackaged, and anything that involves moving more than 15 feet behind the deli counter. On the positive side though, when you get a good sandwich - it's great - and I tend to get far more good ones than bad. All Holiday Markets should take a lesson from nearby Safeway stores and their deli service. I've never once (amazingly) had an experience at a Safeway deli that paralleled a bad Holiday Market experience. There is one exception - Holiday #59 on the corner of Placer Street and Buenaventura Blvd. has an absolutely amazing deli and great service. No wonder though, it's also the newest and largest store in the area. Most customers don't go out of their way to shop at Holiday - most go simply because it's close to their home which makes everything more convenient. The high prices, occasionally out-dated products, and sometimes lackluster service all feel slightly more tolerable when you don't have to drive 15+ miles or battle huge crowds to shop. After years of outright piss-poor property management however, it's very nice to see the owners invest in some extremely needed upgrades. read more

Old, dirty and over priced because the nearest grocery store is Safeway on E. Cypress. I hope they tare this place down and rebuild somewhere else. Parking is small and in a really bad location. Be careful, you can easily get hit by traffic at that intersection. read more

Extremely annoying at the deli counter when they don't have enough help. And . . . to top it off, major let down when the staff that they do have waste their time chatting up employees that have just had a baby. Go visit them on their time off, on their breaks etc. Do not leave the rest of the people waiting in line during lunch time to play ga-ga with the company baby, do that on your own time. HOLIDAY MARKET (HARTNELL) SO with the spread of this virus and as of today the mayor of LA urged people to start wearing masks because it is spreading at such an alarming rate. I called my local Holiday Market manager and mentioned this idea as well as inforcing people to hand sanitize before entering the store. Here response was lax and casual in regards to this and said we cant make people do this. Can you kick people out of your store for no shoes or shirt? Yes you can. She further told me they have tape on the floor, in my opinion this is a small attempt. She went on to say they have plastic screens and clean keypads. Um no you don't clean keypads. I had to clean my own when no one stepped up to do it, or the belt. When the young girl was asked by me do you guys clean keypads, belts, and hand sanitize she told me the store leaves it up to them to do it if they feel like it, it is not put in place to do so yet? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You should be cleaning keypads with a quick wipe down after every customer, this would take only a matter of seconds. STORES wake up!! You are the main source of traffic right now. WITH SIMPLE tasks such as mandatory hand sanitizing before you walk in a store and sanitizing the grocery cart handle, then simply hand sanitizing the keypad at check out and oh throw in there wear a mask. MAYBE we can cut this way down. Come on people wake up and stop worrying if you are going to look silly or what people think. And to the store manager today I spoke with who got irritated at my suggestions you should be fired, you are not leadership quality. I called Target with the same concerns and the manager there was very helpful and eager to listen and loved the ideas. Thank you Target for acting like you care and for putting your ego aside, a true leader! Please help and spread the stores who are being lazy regarding this. If we all stick together and come up with simple ideas to cut down on this spread do so, and maybe stores will start listening. PART TWO. I did contact you and talked to someone about this with my concerns and they gave me a typical run around response without any resolution at the end. I did see a washing station out side the store the next day with people passing it up and people coming and going as they please. TRADER JOES is now making people line up outside their store and letting only a certain number in at a time. There is an employee at the front of the store sanitizing all carts before SHE hands them out to someone. Now that is a store that is taking it serious! Your store is making attempts but still WAY behind taking this serious. It seems like it is about the money and not driving people away with restrictions. PART THREE. Still no masks by employees. Did you know you can transmit the virus up to two weeks before you are even sick. Your employees are walking around the store without masks. Come on Holiday step it up. Are you worried that you might look silly, or thinking this is a conspiracy???? Not sure why you are not making sure your public is as safe as possible. TARGET IS NOW DOING THIS, you should follow suit below. Increased cleanliness and cleaning the store, cleaning belts after each guest. Cleaning keypads after each guest. Making sure cart handles are cleaned before each guest gets a cart. Horrible customer service boars head bacon regular cut had no price tag and the thick cut had a tag for 4.99, when the regular rang up a dollar more I was told that there 2 different kinds and refused to give it to me for the price and said do you want it or not! I am giving it four stars because: they are in a convenient location for me, they make awesome sandwiches, meatloaf, chicken, and broccoli salad, they also sell good pastries. If you are looking for cheaper prices go somewhere else--like winco. This is more like a convenience store and if thought of that way they deserve the four stars. About the broccoli salad. It tastes traditional (with bacon and mayonnaise) but with some twists: it has cashews and little slices of mandarin oranges. It's good and also more inexpensive than Safeway. read more

Fried chicken jerky? The last couple bags of fried chicken from the deli area and a rotisserie style chicken were soooooo dry. I also bought half and half that I didn't realize was due to expire in 2 days and curdled in my coffee. This is just the last two trips. It's all good in a pinch because I'm close by but maybe no more chicken, and date checking on the reg. but damn, isn't frying supposed to lock in moisture? It's so dry we can barely eat it. The cashier, Holly, wouldn't allow me to buy alcohol with a valid CA state ID showing that I'm clearly well over (and I mean WELL OVER) the age of 21 because my wife, who is the same age as me, was with me and she hadn't brought her ID with her. This is a ridiculous "store policy" considering it is not federal or state law to require all members of the present party to show ID to buy alcohol. It is clear that this store doesn't care as much about their customers as literally every other store I've ever been to that has sold alcohol to me without requiring my wife to also show ID. As such, I will not be shopping here again, which is a shame for this store because my family lives right down the street and they'll lose a considerable amount of business from us. read more

Holiday Market is the nearest store to my house,, but seriously they are way to expensive.. something that will cost you at any other store $5.00 at Holiday it cost you $7.00 if something is broken or ripped they don bother to remove it they just leave it there.. i saw today a lady take the last pellet bag and it was ripped.. last bag on the shelf.. she wasnt given a discount or offered to replace it for one that wasnt ripped.. but they sure did charge her the full $8.00.. and informed her they didnt have anymore bags of pellets.. wow.. .. i wont shop there anymore. ill take the drive to safeway.. read more

Holiday has friendly employees that stack local fresh produce, and shelves full of special customer requested items you cant find at other stores. Their sandwiches are delicious and they are a business we love to patronize. Customer service is A+ and we like to rent movies there rather than any red box. I am a mature black man ,that has been shopping at Holiday Market almost on a daily basis for years and was discriminated against the other day. After shopping I went to my truck and my battery was dead, I asked a few people for a jump when an employee came outside and asked if I was asking people for money it was degrading,and humiliating I was angry,but kept my composure ,I feel it was only because I as African American and may not shop there again . I went back to this location due to how close it is to my house. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and they charged for avocado and sprouts. I should have caught this at check out but oh well. They also forgot peppers on another sandwich. It's frustrating how consistently they mess up sandwich orders. I would recommend checking your sandwich and receipt before you walk out the door to make sure it has everything you ordered. This never happens at the other holiday locations. read more

Ok so I bought a box of pasta here and got it home and noticed these weird white things all over the inside of the box after I had started cooking the noodles. Put the box under the stove light and OMG those white things were worms!!!!! Ended up having to throw away the entire meal and wipe down the counters because of this. I haven't bought pasta here since but have bought safe foods like honey and soda. Everything is really overpriced, probably because the surrounding neighborhoods are upper middle class and there are no other food stores in the immediate area. 2 stars for convenience but that's it. read more

This used to be my neighborhood market and I recently moved. I'm willing to drive further to go to Holiday. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are good at showing that they remember you when you're a regular customer. The store is always clean and well maintained. The wood floors are a nice touch as well.
