I don't think my husband and I could've chosen a better place to celebrate our wedding anniversary…read moreweekend. South Haven is such a cute town and the beach (it's clean and sandy) wasn't even 3 minutes walk away. We loved the Concord Room. Being on the second floor, it offered us the privacy we were looking for, and we love being able to watch TV directly from the hot tub that's actually in the room (as opposed to a small jet tub in the bathroom that can usually only fit 1 person). It gave us the view of the parking lot and we didn't have a private balcony, but honestly, how much time are you actually going to spend on your private balcony when the view is infinitely better from the wrap around balcony/porch on the main floor where the food/coffee is served and when there's so much to do? I did a lot of research on the restaurants in town before we went, and honestly, I didn't see any particular restaurants that are very impressive in terms of breakfast food offerings. Also, since the price is already rolled into the cost of the room, we may as well take advantage of what's offered. I was very pleasantly surprised at how fancy it was and how good the food was.Not that you need to come down to breakfast dressed to the nines, but we're talking individual settings with charger plates, white linen table cloth, napkin rings, and delicious plated breakfasts of items like bread pudding, scone with clotted cream, breakfast potatoes, fruit served in a martini glass, etc. The attention to details was impeccable. Everyday around 3pm, there's a table full of popcorn and cookies and a vat of mint/cucumber infused water waiting to quench your thirst after some time in the sun. The staff was so friendly, and the housekeeping staff was totally on top of things. Our towels were changed by the time we got back to our room after being downstairs for breakfast for only half an hour. Since we didn't have a private balcony, my husband and I shared a bottle of champagne while we admired the view right around sunset. Between the room (which we decided we wouldn't trade it for any other), the food, and service, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, other than when we come back to South Haven with our kids (who are not welcomed, and understandably so). My one and only complaint which isn't enough to remove a star for is that the door on the Concord Room isn't hung correctly and you have to adjust door a certain way just to close it.

The reviews, both on Yelp and from my parents, don't lie. I was so happy that I ended up here and not at one of the other neighboring B&Bs. My favorite part was legit the afternoon popcorn and cookies. SO YUMMY! Breakfast was great too with an amazing view. I only wish that we were there longer so we could take advantage of the proprietor's knowledge of the area and get some recommendations of things to do. We were so tired from new parent life that we basically just napped the weekend away, but it was still a lovely place to do that.

Previous poster did not even go in this place?? what TF? Is that allowed?…read more Anyway, Linda is the woman there who hooks it up. She had no idea she had one star so I enlightened her about my yelp dog. It was labor day weekend. I was with me lady and there was no vacancy anywhere, even at the 8 across the street. Or, there was one bed there but it was $160. So I went to Ray's Motel. I threw $69 fo a two bedroom apartment! OMG! With Neon! Vinyl Tiled floor! a stove from the 50's (needed parts), a working fridge, free wifi and A/C! Boom! The TV had like 69 channels and you could hear humping in the room next door. That was awesome. At night the neon lights came on outside and someone lit a fire outside. I asked linda if the sign that says "check out at 10am is true?" She said no way dude. 11am is all good. I said...."maybe noon could be ok?" She said cool. I told her thanks, super 8 would never say cool. She told me Rays is THE LAST FAMILY RUN and OWNED HOTEL IN BERRIEN COUNTY. KEEPIN it LOCAL Ray's Motel Vibe!

It's an endearing little place, with a few quirks and probably predictable drawbacks. Service, as people have said, was absolutely fantastic and incredibly accommodating, so I would recommend it IF you know what to expect going in, which is what you'd imagine from the price but with great service and a well-loved family business atmosphere.

The conference area had lots of breakout spaces, little nooks to get a little work done, have a snack, or chat with colleagues. Bathrooms were very clean and orderly. The food was pretty impressive for conference hotel food. They were a little heavy on the spices, but I'll take that over lack of flavor. There was a Starbucks, a cocktail bar, breakfast place and a restaurant all within the hotel that I didn't eat at but the convenience is always nice at a conference facility. The rooms themselves were spotless, modern, nice amenities, large tvs with streaming, and rainfall showers. My only issue was that the desk area didn't have any plugs to plug in my laptop. The closest plug was on a different wall since the desk was up against the window with no power strip under it to plug-in phone charger, and laptop charger. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially when I got locked in the parking garage because I left my room key in the room when I left at checkout, forgetting that I needed it to exit the parking garage. Unfortunately, the help button on the exit kiosk was malfunctioning, and the remote troubleshooting person couldn't be heard so was not helpful. I ended up having to go in to get assistance. But staff walked back with me and manually unlocked the gate for me to exit.

This was my first stay here in about 10 years and I was so happy to be back. It keeps getting better and better! I love the decor. Everything feels warm, welcoming, and so nice! It has everything I could need and want. Inside the hotel, there is access to fantastic bars and restaurants, coffee, convenience store for essentials, and so much more. Burdick's is a great sports bar. Lobby Bar serves tasty cocktails and small bites, such a charcuterie. Brick & Brine is amazing and serves elevated and innovative dishes. There is a Starbucks in the lobby too, as well as a convenience store where you can pick up snacks, toiletries, and more. I was very grateful because I had forgotten my allergy meds and they had some there. The rooms are excellent. Modern and pristine. Very comfortable and spacious. I appreciate having a large TV, safe, fridge, desk, and a separate seating area with a chair and table. I really like the walk-in shower with the rainfall shower head. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided are really nice quality. I also really appreciated the makeup remover pads that were provided too. Worked so well! The lobby is beautiful and very spacious too, with plenty of comfy seating areas. Great location in downtown Kalamazoo. An easy walk from the train station. I found it was quite walkable to many things. Friendly and wonderful staff. Everyone is very kind and helpful. A special thank you to Richie at the front desk. Excellent communication during my stay. I received text messages and people checked in to make sure I had everything I needed. This is definitely my favorite hotel in Kalamazoo. I can't wait to stay here again!
